That's a really bad trade for the Lakers if this happens. :turrible:

Salary cap and maybe even go after 2013 free agents. Harrington's $7 million contract is unguaranteed next year while Gasol has to be paid $19 million until 2014.

Some 2013 free agents:
Josh Smith
Taj Gibson
Elton Brand
Austin Daye
David West
Lamar Odom
Chris Paul
Serge Ibaka
Al Jefferson
Paul Millsap
Emeka Okafor

Despite concern about Bynum's health I like the trade for the Sixers. It gives the chance for Bynum to reunite with his mentor Kwame Brown and finish teaching Bynum valuable basketball knowledge.

Hmm, they have done a good job building for the future, just think it's a waste of a year for Bryant, but let's see what the future holds. Can't say they aren't trying to get better.

Kobe, Howard and Nash would still make for a formidable trio and they'd be a team that's at least got to be in the conversation when it comes to legitimate contenders. The question is whether Howard would still bolt for Dallas if they didn't end up winning it all the first time around.

The deal being submitted is now a deal without Pau Gasol. That has to change the entire dynamic of the trade, doesn't it?

If the Lakers were able to keep Gasol and "just" have to give away Bynum for now, that deal would be awesome...

I hate it, I hate this so much I can't bear it. Why they are so awesome in trading and signing FA. They make it so good now there's almost nothing else to do and that is not funny.

It's looking like they'll have a great starting five. Well, Metta World Peace hasn't played his best basketball the last couple of seasons, but with the other four in the lineup they don't need him to be a star...just decent.

Your freaking GM just essentially swapped Bynum for Howard. I'm not even sure if my boy Pat Riley could pull that off -_-"

CAN'T WAIT FOR LAKERS-HEAT GAMES!
Best of luck to you guys :D

Dwight Howard has been traded to the Lakers following the completion of an official trade call with the NBA league office.

The reported deal will send Howard, Chris Duhon and Earl Clark to the Lakers, Andre Iguodala going to the Nuggets, Andrew Bynum and Jason Richardson to the Sixers, while the Magic would receive at least Arron Afflalo, Nikola Vucevic, Moe Harkless, Christian Eyenga, Josh McRoberts and a first round pick from each of the other teams along with the Warriors' second round pick in 2013 via Denver.

werewolf914, Are you the one who said before that Dwight will go to Brooklyn?

A lot of people said that. Instead, he ends up being a Lakers. :shake: I'm afraid this team is a real deal. Not only on paper but seriously will be contending in upcoming season. The Nets fans will stop protecting his ass but it'll be the Lakers fans instead. This also will be scary.

This is great, I'm quite confident Howard will resign with LA once the season is over, they can offer him the most amount of money, right?

I think Kobe retires in two some years, that way you can just build around Howard. I'm pretty excited to see the Lakers newest additions, A+ for this offseason Kupchak.

G: Nash/Blake/Duhon
G: Bryant/Meeks/Goudelock
F: Artest/Ebanks
F: Gasol/Jamison/Clark
C: Howard/Hill

That isn't a too shabby team right there. :)

Edit: And Jodie Meeks to LA seems to be happening too.

Mike Bresnahan: Lakers agree to terms w/ reserve SG Jodie Meeks on a 2-year deal for about $3 mill. 2nd yr is team option. Meeks is 37% career 3-pt shooter.

Meeks added to our team, this is the best offseason ever. lol

hiring Eddie Jordan was a big plus. they'll get a few more easy buckets through the Princeton offense

Re: Lakers Thread

Mon Aug 13, 2012 9:35 am

The thing I'm happiest about is that Howard will show up to play every game, he doesn't take games off, he prides himself on defending the paint. No crazy three's either hopefully.

Re: Lakers Thread

The only downside for the Lakers is that he won't be available immediately, as he recovers from back surgery. That and the possibility that he'll leave at the end of the year if things don't go exactly the way he'd like, though I'd agree they've got a very good chance of keeping him.

lol not with Kobe around.
The only time the Wizards ran the offense was when Arenas didn't have the ball.
It was just a clusterfuck by Jordan with Sixers.

I hope Jamison would provide the bench with some identity. not Like last year's bench === sucker.

He's on the downside of his career, but solid. He's a good pickup for them.
