Talk about NBA 2K13 here.

True, all things considered their inclusion of MJ and use of him on the cover, along with all the other historical content probably still stands as a bigger deal (and certainly more significant from a basketball standpoint). As far as mainstream exposure goes, Jay Z's involvement is definitely big news. Not necessarily the news we wanted to hear, but big news all the same, I'll give them that.

I'm a huge Jay-Z fan hence the Blueprint (favorite album) in my username, so this is big for me. To get to my point it's all about Marketing your product to sell. I mean if Jay does an interview saying how hot NBA2k13 people are going to be lined up at stores trying to get a copy. Alot of you dudes knock Jay because your into country, rock or what not, but this is a good business move for 2K. Combine a big name like Jay-Z with anything and it's going to sell like hot cakes...Man didn't have 11 number one albums and successful business for no reason.

I just love how the marketing they use is utilized primarily by hardcore players....
Opinions are my own.

I don't think it's just a difference of musical tastes, though that probably is a factor for some people. I think it's more about most people hoping that the announcement was something more substantial about gameplay/game mode content or the online experience, rather than the soundtrack, front end presentation and cultural aspects of the game.

Yeah, I am very well aware of how the association with Jay Z helps their cause. You talk as if you are going to be receiving a big share of those profits yourself that Jay Z is going to bring in. What most of us fans were hoping for was something that relates directly to our game-play experience. Not just some hand picked music by a dude and Presentation tweaks.

If NBA2K13's presentation sucked would you complain about it because you only care about gameplay?? (most likely) I want to see or read about gameplay improvements just like the next man. Just seems like some people are never happy no matter what 2K does. And no i don't get a share of profits, but i do get a great soundtrack on my favorite game from my favorite artist.

I don't think there was ever a "biggest announcement". All just to build hype & keep people discussing 2k13....which is happening :D

I hope not. If so...NBA2k is going hollywood, meaning less focus on important issues like the out of date player models, gameplay bugs, inaccurate courts/colors, terrible create a player/generated player graphics, horrible online servers, etc.

But I guess we're buying the game for the soundtrack?

(honestly, with all this stupid hype over the cover and the soundtrack. i would prefer the cover be a black piece of paper with nothing on it and have no music in the game, and have all the game issues addressed.)

Adding more hip hop culture to the game is a bad thing.

Yes, apparently so.

It was previously said to represent Michael Jordan (who was born in Brooklyn while his father was stationed there), though that could've been a red herring. It certainly fits better as a hint at Jay Z.

Am I the only one that's hyped to have HOV as executive producer. Havin' Roc Nation & G.O.O.D music with NBA 2k combined is a dream come true. I do understand that people where expecting bigger then that as an annoucement but for me, it's pretty big.

When a major gaming company says they'll release a very big announcement(THE BIGGEST to be exact) your going to be pretty bummed out to find that this so called "BIGGEST ANNOUNCEMENT IN 2K SPORTS HISTORY" is about the fucking soundtrack!

Yeah, the soundtrack is dope is must admit but... C'mon son. Really?

It's "supposedly" not just about the soundtrack. It's about Jay-Z executive producing 2K13 (which means he's also put quite some money into it), which got him access to the game's "soundtrack, presentation and cultural elements".

Whatever that means, we'll find out in the following weeks.

I was super hyped up when they said it's gonna be the biggest announcement in 2k sports' history,
expected something like the FIBA mode, or something like a historic season mode

but then it turned out to be some crap about its soundtrack... 2k is pissing off many of its fans.

For me personally, I don't really care about soundtrack. I just consider it background noise in the menus. Only song that really sticks in my head from any NBA game was Fort Minor's "Remember The Game" from NBA Live '06. That was a good song.

And you attach it to that crappy video from some loser dope who thinks people care about his low resolution bore fests.

Plus everyone knows his lyrics were so offensive that no one should own Live 2000.
