NBA Live 2005 needs a real NBA Draft in their game

Postby keithpetty on Fri Jun 18, 2004 2:51 pm

It needs to be like real life. Like in the first round of the draft they need to have David Stern calling out the people name when they get drafted. Then the people getting drafted will come out and shake david stern hands or do something different. Like they can do 50 different things you want them to do by choosing them when a rookie here his name called out. At the beginning of the NBA Draft all the rookies will be sitting in a table or standing up or the rookies will be doing other things. then they should have charles barkley, kenny smith, and ernie johnson do the commentators of the NBA Draft. Like when David Stern Call Out the First Pick and he comes out and do whatever he wants to do to David Stern. Then the 3 commentators will say something positive and negative about the number 1 pick. occurse all of this will take place in Dynasty Mode.

Yeah but then how are they going to have David Stern's voice recorded for a bunch of generated names? They could take them all from a pool of recorded names, but that would be a lot of work, and they still have bugs to fix..

This is not a good idea... I wouldn't want the draft to last for 2 hours... And commenting on all the second round picks would just take up time. And Stern and all would just be wasted on the game.

Draft should have some more options on it though... This is all glitz and glamour and the game certainly does not need more of that. The game needs more beef, the draft needs more beef. The rookie scouting reports need new beef and something like an error here or there would be of the most welcomed quality.

Also the second round steals should be there...

Just adding all that keithpetty suggested would make the draft go on for ages and it wouldn't really make any sort of an impact into the overall game. It would have very little entertainment value too cause you'd just be skipping them after a draft or at most two...

They had in Live 04 a thing where the rookie gets up in the audience and celebrates his selection. I think that's about all the glitz and glamour needed.

I would like to see something that you could do to prepare for the draft. People have flung around some ideas that would really be better than this.

But knowing EA, this would probably be implemented first rather than depth added to this whole rookie thing.

That'd be pretty cool. Just depends on how realistic they could make it because personally I hated the training camp they have for NBA Live 2004.

I think the rookie being happy when you draft him and pumping his fist is great. Maybe if the cutscene lasted another 10 seconds and he shook David Stern's hand. I personally love that David Stern is in the game. I would only want that for my drafted players though, not see it for everyone.

That would certainly be excellent presentation, but all we really need is a couple of cutscenes, at most. Like most people, I'd prefer to see improvements to the generated rookies and the ability to make other transactions on draft day before enhancing the superficial elements.
