2K vows "Biggest Announcement in 2K Sports history" coming

This is kind of starting to remind me of what happens with the PC patch every year.

Ronnie put out a Facebook thing showing MJ with a Mic in front of him, saying the announcement is coming this week. Then Jay Z's social sites started saying he's the executive producer - http://www.nba-live.com/nba-2k13s-execu ... -is-jay-z/

5 hours ago 2K posted on FB with a picture of MJ in the studio, and they mentioned a big announcement coming this week.

Presumably the big announcement is MJ related then. Seems he's recording voiceover, so perhaps there's another MJ career mode or something else that involves a virtual MJ speaking.

I think MJ will be our mentour in My Player mod just like 2kInsider man in NBA 2k11 and 2k10...

LD2k has said repeatedly in that OS thread that the things the production by Jay-Z offered was more than the soundtrack, but the latter was all they were willing to announce at this time, and that there's more to come in the coming weeks.

Wow 2K has really low self-esteem. Jay Z decides to act like he is involved in the production of the game and they proclaim it to be the biggest thing that has ever happened to them? How about some fucking standards 2K? Yeah you got a high name celebrity to sponsor you and make a few non-gameplay related additions to your game, but anything he has done to your game hasn't automatically made your product supreme.

It could still be argued that it's the biggest announcement they've made, having a high profile celebrity involved in the production and marketing of the game. Whether it ultimately does anything for the game and in appeases the hardcore fan in particular is another matter entirely.

Well, it was a cheap marketing tactic and I understand that. But the addition of Jordan in previous installments is definitely the biggest thing to ever happen to their game. Both in terms of marketing value and gameplay value.
