OS are historically anti-Live and pro-2K, so there is some bias to take into account.

Don't you mean objective? If they're subjective, then bias would be an issue.
Anyway, what we've seen from both Live and 2K so far have been described as very early builds, presumably not indicative of what's currently being worked on right now in the studios. I'm prepared to take that at face value and see what comes along over the next couple of months, from more complete builds. First impressions are important but when they're of a work in progress, I'm willing to give them both the benefit of the doubt for the moment.

While some might find the implementation trivial, or a souped-up Quicktime event, bear in mind just how freaking hard the Blacktop Dunk Contest is with the analog stick. I can barely get the gather correct. People who get to All-Star Weekend in their careers or invite friends over to fool around with it aren't going to want to spend forever on tutorials. Some might feel it's a little simple, but I buy the logic behind the design choice.
any work being done to isomotion? it was kinda clunky..im hoping for more fluid, fast and explosive crossovers
I've personally hated isomotion for years. Fixing it has been my primary objective for 13.
The up and unders (aka flick flicks) are now interruptible. So if you read it properly you can force the "under" into contact.
