your game is patched, i downloaded the patch but i don't think its patched because the controllers are going wonky again

Basically the only way the see if your game has been successfully updated is if the problems you were having have been resolved eg the low frame rate under Win 98 with USB devices. Either the update was not installed correctly, or there are issues with your controller that the patch did not fix.
