Is editing gameplay files possible? Details inside

Postby bfrombleacher on Sat Apr 28, 2012 3:54 pm

I've seen some amazing shazams done with cyberfaces and lighting and textures and whatnot. I've even seen a mod for player movement in 2k11. The modding community is amazing...

So...even though I know it's kind of far fetched, I was wondering if there is a way to edit gameplay files, mainly:

- Injuries (in association) - increase frequency of injuries
- CPU generated drafts - change the range of OVRs and potentials
- Player improvement and regression - like increase/decrease the sensitivity of improvement since player progression is apparently a function of playing time and height/weight of the player

What I want to do is just increase the sensitivity of all of that. Kind of like messing with sliders that sadly 2k did not put in and I barely have any programming skills. I was thinking since you can edit iff files which are basically gameplay files, and since someone has actually edited gameplay files for 2k11, that my request might be possible.

I hope there's a solution but either way, thanks for your time in advance.

for those things you want to increase or decrease the appropriate injury sliders for both the user and CPU, it affects simulations iirc too.
draft classes can be created yourself, so you can make those edits as you please
and doing a global edit on players' potential ratings in the REDitor will help with the improvement thing.
Opinions are my own.

I did not know that the sliders affect simulations too. Thanks for that.

As for the other things, I've actually tried what you suggested before but the results were kind of unsatisfactory for me. The "random" factor just isn't there for player improvement (it's always very linear) which is a giant letdown for my association game. Since player improvement is based on playing time and height/weight, I was thinking changing the sensitivity and tweaking what's available should help.

I'm still pretty hopeful since someone actually edited the players speed in 2k11, which has to be a gameplay file edit I think.

Thanks, though, for replying.

Thanks. I PM'd him about it. He probably has a LOT of requests.

Ah well.

One last bump. Hopefully someone else knows how to otherwise I'll just let the thread die.
