I can't block the game's access to the web. You can grab a freeware firewall with outgoing rules (Windows 7 has that already in Control Panel, a good one for XP is Comodo) and disable 2K12's access to the web.

February 27 - Online Data Update #4 - All-Star Court

As you can see, big Online Data Update. New files for the all-star court and floors, both for the All-Star Game and the Rookie Challenge. Also 4 new shoes, All-Star editions.

Roster has updated teams, floor and court looks correct, no jerseys in the download, and the stadium is still referred to as Staples Center in the overlays. Still, should provide somewhat of an All-Star experience, I guess. Make note that the roster STILL has the players of the Rising Stars Challenge broken into Rookies and Sophomores, not Team Shaq and Team Chuck. So if you want to reenact the Rising Stars Challenge you'll need custom rosters.

Servers are intermittently up. However, you'll have to wait quite some time before it's done downloading. Online Data is now up from 24MB to 46MB, and that'll take some time to download from 2K's servers that have download speeds of anywhere between 50KB/s and 100KB/s.

As you can see, nearly all files were updated, there's no _lo files anymore, and plus, what the hell is the dlc_catalog.iff update? Are we getting DLC on the PC after the patch? Is another DLC coming for console users? Mind-boggling update.

We got the PS3 Online Data Update ladies and gentlemen. I have no idea what the reason is. Do the PS3 files even work for us?

EDIT 2: Nope, they don't.

Try playing at the Pistons home court or the Raptors home court after getting the update. Floor's a black texture.

Floors don't work, shoes don't work, commentary doesn't work anymore.

I can't even make Keep My Mod fix the game for me, because now the game treats Online Data differently and locks its handles on the files so I can't move them, the tool just crashes. GREAT! WE CAN'T PLAY 2K12 AT ALL!

bryllesia, that's a big conspiracy theory you've got going there.

In any case, I know Keep My Mod is crashing. NBA 2K12 is keeping the file handles open on the Online Data files which means I can't replace them, move them or anything without violently releasing the handles which could make the game crash. That's a new behavior that wasn't happening before, I have no idea why it's happening now. Most probably because the game can't actually process the PS3 files correctly.

Don't use Keep My Mod for now. Use the workaround that's posted in NLSC's front page to play for now, and once we get the PC Online Data back, you'll be able to use Keep My Mod.

Still, i don't see why you'd still use it, seeing as how I've realized that using it makes you lose all other Online Data updates. I tried to make Keep My Mod work, but the way 2K has programmed the game, there's no way I can circumvent some updates while still keeping the rest.

1. Can't make Keep My Mod work right now. 2K screwed up the Online Data. I reported about this just a few posts above yours. viewtopic.php?p=1486252#p1486252
2. If you want to play the game until 2K fixes this, you need to use the workaround that's posted on the Main Page. Just go to the top of this webpage and click Main Page on the menu. It's the post that mentions the Online Data issue.
3. Don't know if the servers are down.
4. I won't be fixing Keep My Mod, since even before this Online Data problem, it didn't work properly. You could keep your mods, but you'd lose all other online data updates, and that's not how it was supposed to work. Until I find some other way for users to keep their mods AND the rest of the Online Data updates, Keep My Mod is discontinued.

Leftos, your idea of deleting the Online Data works! And it feels that the gameplay is better too now... I wonder if the Online Stuff messed up the gameplay since I remember that the Game played great out of the box but it started to change once 2K released their Rosters and updates thru online...

Nope, that sounds more like a "placebo" effect than anything. Nothing in the Online Data is gameplay related except the roster, so I don't think there are any changes there.

v0.3 released!

The tool now edits the downloads.mnf file in the Online Data folder, so that the game's fooled into thinking your mods are part of 2K's update; that way you can keep both your mods and the rest of 2K's updates, something that wasn't previously possible!

Quick note though, to avoid having the game resync its updates when you quit a game and return to the Main Menu (which takes about 10-15 minutes during which you don't have the Online Data updates, such as the new shoes), remember this:
- When you're about to enter a game, Alt-Tab into the tool and click on Force Keep My Mods.
- When you're about to quit a game and return to the Main Menu, Alt-Tab into the tool, and click on Restore Online Data Backup.
If you remember to do these two things, you'll always have both your mods and the rest of 2K's updates, without having to wait through the lengthy update.
