I'd suggest the consistency of players like Boozer, Noah, Brewer and Hamilton is more a factor than Rose's scoring average or the implications of historical comparisons.

another good game for Boozer. of course it comes against a shitty team...

Hamilton should be back for the next Bulls game (Y)

Still a good way to enter the All-Star break. First career triple double for Noah, too. (Y)

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

As good as Derrick Rose is, he's a shoot-first point guard. Look at how Carlos Boozer excelled in Utah with Deron Williams. Their pick-and-pop combination was a nightmare for defenses. After a pick, Boozer would either drive to the hoop or swish a 10-15 foot jumper. You never see Derrick Rose do that with Boozer. Chicago Bulls ask Boozer to create his own shot, which he's not very good at. It should be Derrick Rose's job to make Boozer better.

it should be Boozer's job to make Boozer better.

I've seen the Bulls run "utah" style Pick n roll where the screen comes below 3pt line/on either side of the key. Boozer just can't finish like around the rim like he used to. sometimes you'll see vintage Boozer where he's finishing with his left but you only see that against weak defenders or teams with poor defensive rotations.

Boozer has feasted against the weaker competition but when the big dog teams are in the building he disappears. look at his season splits against teams that are over .500. if he's not making that jumpshot, he's rendered useless. nevermind his defense LOL. i think only against the Celtics has he turned in good games.

I love it how Bulls fans fire on Boozer. he certainly deserves it. 5yr/$75mil contract for a no defense playing jumpshooting big man who doesn't disappears in big games.

What was it that MJ used to say about eating red meat and a pepper? Perhaps that needs to be Boozer's approach before those big games.

Derrick Rose has got enough on his plate without having to defer to Boozer's fading offensive game. Boozer needs to work harder to find his spots.

Not sure if serious. Rose creates a lot of shots/ space for his teammates. And btw how could he make that guy play (better) defense?

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Fri Feb 24, 2012 5:14 pm

Well, no duh he can't make Boozer play any defense. I'm talking about offensively. Boozer used to average 20 a game in Utah. I don't know if it's the system, Rose, him declining but Boozer is capable of contributing more.

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Fri Feb 24, 2012 6:56 pm

What more do you actually want from this team though? They've been one of the three best teams in the league despite their two best players being out for stretches, and their next two best players being extremely inconsistent. There is no reason at all to fuck with that, just to get Boozer more scoring opportunities.

CheddahCheese wrote:I don't know if it's the system, Rose, him declining but Boozer is capable of contributing more.

If it is him declining, then he isn't capable of contributing more. That's all there is to it.

I'd say that pretty much sums Boozer up. I think he's still got a fair bit left in the tank, but he's got to bring it in the big games as well as he does against weaker opponents.

"What more do you actually want from this team though?"

They can't beat Miami in a 7 game series with the current roster. Shit, I won't be surprised if they get upset by the Knicks if they meet.

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Fri Feb 24, 2012 7:30 pm

They came a couple of free throws away from beating them with a depleted roster a couple of weeks back. I too think they're a piece or two away from being frontrunners to come out of the East but all in all they're in a pretty good position right now, with a promising future. I would be surprised if the Knicks beat them in a seven game series, I'll grant you the Heat though. They're certainly not alone on the latter, though.

As long as 'Melo and Baron Davis stay with the Knicks, Bulls have good chances of winning a 7 game series. ;)
They are the by far the better defensive team and you see what happens if Lin & co. face tough defenders.

lol who is this Cheddah Bob troll guy? Boozer's agent? Boozer stinks. you know it. the fans know it. the players know it. the coaches know it. perfect case in point was that Boston game where Rose sat out. Boozer actually was playing well but in crunchtime he turned the ball 4 fricking times in a row. or how about the play where he got the loose ball and called timeout instead of passing to a wide open watson. or Chris Wilcox beating him downcourt for an alley oop dunk. 'nuff said.

it's refreshing hearing the national broadcast commentators, especially Jeff van gundy, criticize Boozer. you seldom hear anyone from the bulls side say anything negative about him. occasionally Kendall Gill in the postgame. I'm sure Stacey King thinks to himself "even my retired fat-ass would have made that defensive rotation". if Boozer didn't have that contract, i'm sure Gibson would be starting already.

i can't confidently say any team can beat miami in a best of 7 right now. they are playing pretty damn well

Derrick Rose lands potential $200M shoe deal

I'm still a Nike man thanks to MJ (and I do actually find them quite comfortable) but good for him and good for Adidas. He's a rising star who's already one of the best in the league and he's not likely to bring the brand into disrepute. $200 million...simply an unfathomable amount of money.

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

that is ridiculous...

Rose and Noah bail out Boozer again (lol). Boozer plays well the 1st 3 qtrs then come crunchtime he can't make a basket down low or catch the ball and blows a defensive assignment. i should do a running count of un clutch Boozer moments

I'm excited for tonite's game vs the Spurs. Pop is one of my fav coaches and once again he's got the Spurs on a roll. Tony Parker is having a fine season. Rose coincidentally has big games against the league's best PG's.

I'm looking forward to it as well, it's the game they're showing here today. (Y)

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Not a bad victory. If they could have just skipped the odd numbered periods, then the game would have been awesome.

The Spurs did a pretty decent job of defending Rose, but there's not really a whole lot that you can do when he's playing like that. He really really shows up to play against the league's other elite point guards.

Noah started like the All-Star that we all know he can be, but he became a little bit tentative as the game wore on, passing up some gettable open jumpers, but his vision and ball movement were outstanding.

Not a lot from Deng, aside from a couple of big key buckets down the stretch.

A great contribution from C.J. Watson in the second.

Boozer was a stereotypical version of himself. He looked like catching fire once or twice and was somewhat solid on the boards, but then some woefully inept defensive play saw him sent straight (and correctly) to the bench. If Taj can just improve his rebounding and upper body strength, then I don't see any reason why he shouldn't get the lion's share of the minutes, contracts notwithstanding.

Rose is even more impressive than his MVP season. The bulls are a scary team.

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Fri Mar 02, 2012 9:07 am

Hopefully the team is going to remain healthy from now on till the end. With Rose being unstoppable as usual,Noah coming back to All-Star form,Deng being already on it,Boozer showing some better signs than last year while Taj completes him in the 4 spot,Rip back on track and Watson,Brewer,Korver playing great minutes from tge bench, Bulls are starting to form this dominating team they were at a point last year. They just need that extra something in scoring, which we still don't know if Rip can offer, with which they can edge Thunder and Heat...

Amen

Anyone else stand up and plead to the tv "Get up, Rose! Pleeeeeeeease get up, Rose!!" when he and parker knocked knees???

i thought that Danny Green was just some scrub who was dancing on the sidelines with LEbronze james back in his cleveland days. he's ok. i thought SPurs could've won the game. they move the ball well and had open shots. Tony Parker is such a tough guard. he runs off screens then does screen and roll.. lol sheesh

I was on the exercise bike at the time, but I stopped and those were my EXACT words. Although they were preceded by me saying, "Shit. Shit. Shit. Ohhhhh shit no." Was about ready to call the season at that point.

Another interesting San Antonio stat that JVG pulled out was that the Spurs have been led in scoring by ten different players this year. That's incredibly impressive, and all without Ginobili. There was a great mini duel on consecutive possessions where Parker and Rose each split their respective defenders for "impossible" layups. Say what you will about the Spurs' gamestyle, but I do love to watch them.
