Last 4 games Lin has been best PG in the league. What should be he rating after next update ? Rubio got from 67 to 78 ! Lin from 56 to 80 ? That would be by far the biggest boost for player rating in 2k history !

i believe, you can't just boost players that much with just three or four games with the timespan of each official roster releases....you can adjust them yourself anyways...

Considering he's only just started to put up big numbers, his low rating in previous rosters is hardly unreasonable. I'd expect a pretty big boost in the next roster update but you do have to be wary of small sample sizes, otherwise ratings go up and down like a yo-yo from update to update.

A couple of things - OVR doesn't count for jack in 2k sports - look at more individual ratings rather than OVR.

And even after 2k bump his ratings, all they are really gonna up is his speed, handling and layups up a bit more, so don't expect a huge jump in OVR.

His passing, D, and shooting is still pretty bad so don't expect him to end up in the high 70's.

But sometimes the 2k are on crack :D

His passing and D are above average. His shooting is average.

Don't want to get into this discussion here, but simply lobbing in consistently to Chandler who finishes coz there are no good centres in the NBA does NOT make you a good passer.

And his D is poor, John Wall and Rubio tore him up, and he couldn't handle Rubio so they chuck him on Ridnour (LOL) instead. And Rubio has consistently been having trouble shooting since the nba 3 pt line was implemented in Euro last season.

And he has a pretty poor shot. Apart from the game against the lakers, I don't think he hit another 3 in any of those other games he started.

He's a great player, and is exciting to see someone who isn't strong or very athletic make it in NBA, but lets not get ahead of ourselves...

He's getting tons of attention so it's natural that people are gonna tear him down but he's got what? 5 or 6 NBA games under his belt? Almost all rookies suck at defense, Kobe, Lebron and Derrick Rose were all weak defenders in the beginning. You have to get use to the NBA's speed.

Dude, Rondo, Westbrook are great recent examples of rookies who played pretty good D that soon developed into exceptional D.

And tons of attention? He went from a guy who was barely gonna play any minutes to a starter. Teams AREN'T giving him any attention - that's the whole point, teams didn't even scout him, and he did a pretty good job at shocking everybody. NBA defences will adjust to him in the future.

Furthermore, he has been hanging around NBA teams for 2 years now... you can't say he is "unused" to the pace.

I meant he's getting tons of attention from the fans and media and NBA scrimmage speed is not the same as NBA game speed. Also this whole Rondo is a great defender argument is a myth. He gambles in the passing lanes a lot and the refs stopped calling him for his patented clothes line pick so he gets lots of steals but he's not even close to being a great defender, guys like Rose and Westbrook blow by him at will too but he usually has Garnette behind him.

You don't shut down point guards in this day and age, especially with the rule changes. You do that by funneling them into your bigs.

Running a pick-and-roll as well as Lin does is a hell of a lot harder than you think. It's not something that can be really taught, it's an instinct thing. The fact that he's making everyone better and finding the right guys despite no training camp and not playing with the team in general until last week speaks volume of his court vision. 70-80 passing is absolutely fine and any lower is not understanding how hard it is to be a real PG in the league.

hahah lol cannot disagree

IMHO Lin will be in the biggest movers in next update, but I dont expect him to be above 80.
Though I never thought I'd ever say that, Rubio deserves his 78 Rating. He's actually playing better than he ever played in Spain.
Lin has just played 5 good games. If he continues to shock the world, Im sure 2k will make him a star too.

Dude Rondo is an excellent defender. He has exceptional hands, and really long arms. His perimeter defence is excellent at PG, literally bar none. Yes he often gambles for steals, but is no where near the same level of guessing as, say, Allen Iverson did.
You can't watch Rondo and say he is a poor defender... I'm no longer subscribed to Synergy Sports but I remember reading he has one of the lowest opposing FG % compared to other guards.

But NBA has really turned into a bit of joke the last 10 years, even the last 20 years, the way guys like D-Wade, Kobe and other guards just do some BS run into paint and get a ton of calls. Ruins games when half the points people score are from freaking FT's. Not saying they are bad players... but guys like Durant have started to get BS calls as well, and if Lin continues his form, it won't be long before he joins that august group.

With a wingspan like Rondos, you better have a good opposing FG%.
