What on earth is wrong with this god awful game

In all fairness, this thread should probably be a post in the Venting thread in General, but I'd also like other people's opinions on it (I want to know if am I crazy, or if this game is shit...)

I just got a ps3 for xmas and was stoked to go and play nba2k12, so turned on the ps3 and waited 15 hours to install updates. Then NBA loaded, which took about 97 minutes and forced me to press different buttons and random intervals. And so begins my first open letter.

Dear Ps3 people,

I understand long load times for games. They are quite in depth and obviously take some time to get going. However, I do not want to sit around and watch the same fucking screen for 20minutes waiting. I'd like to let it load while I got take a dump, get a beer, beat off, anything! STOP MAKING ME FUCKING PRESS BUTTONS!!!!
Also, I am not using Moove, I don't need the 15second lawyer's warning label telling me not to throw my fist into someone's face. If I had the fucking thing I wouldn't need this stupid warning label. Put it on the case or the moove thingo and leave it at that.
Please advise.

And now that im pissed off to no extent, I have to wait 3minutes listening to the same shithouse song EVERYTIME a game is loading. I would rather listen to a nickelback streaming live concert than this piece of fuck. The game comes with a good fucking soundtrack, WHY NOT PUT THAT IN THE LOAD SCREEN? %$@^*#*#(_*^@_(*&*&@@@^%!$$!!

BUT JUST IN CASE that wasn't enough to make this game completely unplayable, lets put some cut screens in between all quarters, just to let us know the date in the future. I'm sure this cut screen goes for 14minutes and is really in depth, but I dont give a flying fuck, I just want to play the game. I don't care who the Bucks have on their schedule on November 4th, I really dont care. Don't show me.
And then at half time we get the pleasure of indulging 2k Sports' advertisers and being forced to sit through the halftime report just long enough to make sure that we all buy HP products in the future.
The one saving grace from 2k11 was that if you didn't play up until halftime, you wouldn't be forced to be 'subbed' back in at 0:00 to sit through the half time/sprite reports. The sprite reports are no fucking better, they just get less wrath because theyre shorter and occasionally tell me i'm good.

Just to top it off, if it weren't for all this crap, the game wouldn't take 3minutes to load in the first place.

I am sitting around watching bullshit half-time reports, listening to horrible guitar and drum solos in the load screen and not being able to go and get beers while waiting for the ps3 to load, the one thing that probably would have calmed me for all this asswipery. Between all that and the beginning of My Player, I am playing approximately 3minutes of gametime and sitting through double that in bullshit presentation. Oh, and my 3 minutes of gametime is spent watching the PG stand at the top of the key dribbling, waiting for christmas. I'm sorry Darren Collison, it isn't for another year.

How the fuck this game got good reviews I have no idea.

so you're complaining about music...on a console....which has custom arena music....right

and if you hate all the presentation elements, which make the game more TV like, then don't play 2k12. This game's presentation is what it gets great reviews and awards for. If you want to jump into a video game, play Live. At least there the literal first thing you do after the opening screen is shootaround gameply.

FFS. You can skip 99% of what you were complaining about. The other 1% has nothing to do with the game.

He has a point, though. A lot of that great presentation ends up being fluff or filler. Zoom in on the back of a 3d model of a player's jersey! Wow! Here's an emmy. I skip as much of that as I can. They should really add some options for presentation style next year.

I hope you are exaggerating about the game taking 3 minutes to load, though. Try turning menu music off and see if that does anything. Good idea about using the soundtrack for load screens.

My Player gets better. Oh, delete your my player, play quick games and find sliders you like because you won't be able to change them in my player, but if you start a new my player mode with custom sliders, they stick.

Also, try pressing a button to skip stuff rather than sitting there like an idiot and raging.

I'd like to have the ability to skip them immediately or toggle them on and off altogether. For the most part it's impressive and certainly adds to the atmosphere, but sometimes you're just not in the mood for it and want to get on with the game.

You cant skip the screens completely. I don't sit there and watch it, but I'm still made to sit and watch long enough for the Sponsors to get their shit in lights, and its long enough to wreck the game completely.
Load times may have been exaggerated somewhat, but it does go through that terrible song at least 3 times before each game/drill.

PDub, appreciate the suggestion, but sitting through any game is unbearable. I'd rather go and buy 2k11

I never thought I'd say this, but thank god for Live coming back!!!
