I would, it is not perfect but it's the best basketball gameI have ever played. Only things are high fg % and too many blocks.

I have had the game for over a month.

No, I do not recommend it at all. I have used various tweaks, done my own tweaking, and tried everything.

The idiots who made this game hard coded everything instead of making it stat based so it is impossibled to implement changes on some extremely serious issues that plague this game.

It is sad, but NBA Live 2000 was a better game in a lot of ways. I would play it instead, but it doesn't work with XP.

Graphically 2003 is the best they have ever made, and better than any other game. For this it is great, but playability is laughable at best.

The game is too easy and too hard at the same time. If the computer wasn't forced to "cheat" I would blowout every single game.

Cheats include: Was playing Boston vs. LA.
4 turnovers(passes flying out of bounds on a simple pass) and 3 missed dunks/layups all in a row because I was up by 40 points in superstar against the lakers. Blatant steals that would normally be fouls but because the computer "WANTS THE BALL AT ALL COSTS MODE" you have yet another turnover. I even had Paul Pierce lose the ball on a simple crossover and get "picked" by Shaq at mid court. Please... Or then there is the cheat charge code which means the CPU defender cannot be beaten with the dribble and will always find a way to sneak between you and the basket when pushing the ball. You can only beat the defenders off the dribble in the easier modes, and they are for beginners.

Then either Kobe or fisher hog the ball the rest of the game and just start sprinting to the 3pt line shooting fading away 3 pointers out of bounds with 3 people covering them. Nothing but net.

They still lost the game, but how fun is it watching the computer shoot 95% from 3pt range for 3 quarters because it is down by 30+. Where is the fun in playability? Where is the fun in the unstoppable drive that can't be blocked because once the layup or dunk animation start the shot is pre-determined? The old blocking systems was 100 times better.

Instead of playing smart, the AI makes you have stupid turnovers and miss wide open dunks and shots. Stupid unforced errors that shouldn't happen but do, etc...

This game was barely bug tested and has been a HUGE dissapointment in EVERYTHING but graphics and freestyle control.(which doesn't work on the computer anyway because of the cheat charge code) There are a lot of goaltending and CPU shooting bugs(IE:Shooting mid spin on the low block with no animation to match the spin move)

EA LISTEN TO THIS CAREFULLY:
DO NOT WORK ON THE GRAPHICS FOR NEXT YEAR. ONLY WORK ON AI. The graphics are fine for F's sake. Just fix the damn blocking code and the AI for the CPU. Then and only then will you have a good game.

Oh yeah, and even with DK's tweaks, I am shooting above 80% for all FG's because the shooting AI isn't based on stats either, it is based on OPEN looks.

Well, 80% until the CPU decides it is too far behind and need a momentum swing for the CPU, then I can't hit a layup or the broad side of a barn.

And foul shooting is also dumb. Someone made the suggestion to make it easier to get dead center, but hten factor in the persons rating "After" he locks the target to create "realism'

Also the CPU never misses foul shots if they are behind. "more cheating" Oh and they force fouls on you so they can go to the line. I had Hudson from Minesota hit 32/32 from the line because of "fouls" that were not fouls. He ended up having a 52 point game but the team lost by 40.

The AI is DUMB with a capital D.

EA, I am not going to fall for your BS product much longer....on any platform. We waited 2 years FOR THIS?? Do it right, or don't do it at all. Then maybe you won't get returns in the home PC market.

Personally, I DO recommend it as the best bball game ever made.

For sure it's not perfect, everyone knows the issues: FG, steals, block, speed... Using the correct tweaks (DK's is the best) many of these are almost fixed.

If you play slow-tempo basketball, make right passes, look for the open shot, play the correct defense, etc., you'll have a great game. But if you simply play run'n'gun, don't practice defense, make silly passes, you'll have nothing more than an arcade console game.

Definitely, if YOU play realistic, the game IS realistic.

I'm playing everyday since I got it and I haven't a CPU players scoring more than 42 (the only was Iverson) so far. I'm winning only 40% of my superstar level games. I'm playing Orlando in a franchise and my stats are absolutely realistic, and the CPU stats are ok, too.

It is different from previous live games where you could make any pass you wanted. If you throw a pass near a defender it will probably get picked off. It is frustrating at first but a lot more realistic. Fg% are really high even on superstar and rebounds suffer. A patch from ea could fix all of this though, but who knows if they will ever release one. Try the demo out before you make a decision.
