You don't get three points added if you pick the correct team but a game off - you get three points total for the prediction. My bad for making that unclear. I did get your score mixed up with z02's though, so you have 13 points actually. Here's how I calculated yours:

OKC 4-2 POR | 0 pts
GSW 1-4 SAS | 0 pts
HOU 4-3 LAL | 2+1= 3 pts (4-2)
MEM 3-4 DAL | 0 pts
CHI 4-0 NYK | 2+0= 2 pts (4-2)
BOS 4-2 MIA | 2+1= 3 pts (4-3)
ORL 4-1 IND | 2+3= 5 pts (4-1)

0(4) + 2(1) + 3(2) + 5(1) = 13

I trust that you'll be able to beat the Warriors; their offense may be even harder to stop than OKC's, but they have lesser defense than that of the Thunder.

Warriors Weather Storm, Take Game 1
Injury Added To Insult As Wesley Matthews Goes Down

Image
The Blazers suffered a Steph infection.

Golden State 94, Portland 84

May 14, 2012; Oakland, CA - Portland was expected to get the jump on Golden State. The Warriors were coming off a tough seven game series while the Blazers were somewhat rested and still coming off a huge upset. That's why it was a surprise when the 30-15 score at the end of the first was Golden State's.

With Aldridge being the only one giving the Blazers reliable play, the Blazers offense was atrocious in the first half. Everyone else was chucking threes and turning it over. Things went from bad to worse for Portland as Wesley Matthews went down with an injury and didn't return. The team doctors have diagnosed a broken ankle, and Matthews is expected to miss the remainder of the postseason. Roy is expected to be the replacement starter as Roy came in with the starter at halftime, with the score reading 55-37, Golden State.

5 quick points by Brandon Roy to open the second half got Portland back into the game. After an atrocious first half, Roy put Portland on his back. Roy's offense was inspiration for the rest of the team's defense, as a stifling third quarter put Portland within four points entering the fourth quarter.

This momentum continued into the fourth, and a leaning three by Roy gave Portland their first lead of the game, 75-74. It looked like the Blazers would take it. Then, the Warriors went on an 8-0 run. Portland's offense went cold as Aldridge stopped hitting his shots, and the threes continued to miss. The Warriors went on to win it, 94-84.

Image Image

The Warriors were led by their big three of Stephen Curry, Monta Ellis and David Lee, who combined for 53 points, 19 rebounds and 14 assists in the game. The Blazers were led by Aldridge and Roy, who had 26 and 21 points respectively. Oden had a very solid outing as well, while Felton flirted with a triple double.

The Warriors take a 1-0 series lead with the win. After the win, Monta Ellis said "I've been in they shoes. Me and Andris - we the only ones left from the We Believe team and I remember that Jazz series. We just gotta keep this up".

Warriors lead series 1-0.

Damn, that sucks that Wes Matthews went down. What are you going to do with the guard rotation? Are you going to cap Roy's minutes like IRL?

It means Nicolas Batum is going to get a lot more burn. I kinda gave up on capping Roy's minutes. As sixth man, I had his minutes set to like 28 and then would try to avoid using him when he was fatigued or the game wasn't close. I pretty much use Oden the same way. Roy should stay in the low 30's as long as we don't lose any more swingmen.

It would've been better if Curry could've put in some more FGs. Tough blow for Matthews, but I'm sure you can bounce back from a sour game 1.

AROUND THE LEAGUE

Warriors' Mark Jackson Named Coach Of The Year

Image

The Golden State Warriors were questioned by some about their signing of coach Mark Jackson. Jackson has proven to be a perfect fit, as he coached Golden State to its first playoff appearance in five years. The team won 62% of its regular season games, an 18% over last season's 36-46 mark. The Warriors also won the Pacific Division and are currently up 1-0 in the second round of the playoffs. He beat out 09-10 winner Scott Brooks and 10-11 winner Tom Thibodeau among others for the award. The first year coach will accept his award prior to game 2 against Portland.

Last 5 CotY's

2012 - Mark Jackson (GSW)
2011 - Tom Thibodeau (CHI)
2010 - Scott Brooks (OKC)
2009 - Mike Brown (CLE)
2008 - Byron Scott (NOH)

Other Game 1's

Gay Saves Grizzlies At Buzzer
Martin's 33 Not Enough As Grizzlies Take 1-0 Series Lead

Memphis 96, Houston 95

Despite a very efficient 33 point, 18 shot game from Kevin Martin, the Rockets fell just short of stealing game 1, courtesy of a game-winning jump shot from Rudy Gay. Gay after the game: "this is what we were missing last year. All the way, baby!"

MEM: Gay: 24/6/3 stls, 8-15 FG, 7-7 FT, hit game winning jump shot (PotG); Randolph: 22/10/1; Mayo: 16/3/3 stls
HOU: Martin: 33/2/4 stls, 13-18 FG; Scola: 15/10/1; Lowry: 9/9/10

Grizzlies lead series 1-0

Eight Scored In Double Figures For Boston

Boston 105, Chicago 96

MVP Derrick Rose, who accepted his trophy prior to tip-off, was brilliant as usual. Unfortunately for him, the Celtics had a well rounded attack while he had Carlos Boozer, who had 4 points on 1-12 shooting.

BOS: Rondo: 16/6/12 (PotG); Allen: 23/3/4; Pierce: 14/2/4
CHI: Rose: 35/2/5; Gibson: 16/6/0; Boozer: 4/11/3, 1-12 FG (Shitass)

Celtics lead series 1-0

Magic Steamroll Pacers In Game One
Pacers Attempt 21 Three Pointers, Make One

Magic 101, Pacers 63

All the people who doubted the Pacers in their last series get some relief as the #7 seed was blown out by 38 points. This was courtesy of stifling Magic defense, which held the Pacers to 31% shooting from the field, and under 5% from behind the arc. After the game, Frank Vogel sarcastically said "we got 'em right where we want 'em"

ORL: Howard: 23/15/2 blks, 9-15 FG (PotG); Nelson: 17/1/5; Arenas: 15/2/5
IND: Hickson: 15/7/1; Hibbert: 8/6/3; Granger: 7/5/2 TO's, 1-15 FG (Shitass)

Oh man, the Warriors ... great video team game. You should actually be able to kill them downlow, but somehow didn't happen. I mean, Lee can't stop Aldridge's fade from the high post and although Biedrins is overrated in 2k games, you should be able to get him into foul trouble early.

Go for a win in the next game and make it a 5 game series.

Big Win Comes At Big Cost
Gerald Wallace Suffers Severe Ankle Sprain As Blazers Tie Series

Image
Raymond Felton has quietly had a good postseason.

Portland 112, Golden State 100

May 16, 2012; Oakland, CA - It's a series now. A big run in the second quarter led by LaMarcus Aldridge propelled the Blazers to a double digit lead, and they just never looked back.

After a first quarter that looked a lot like game 1, the game shifted more to Golden State's fast paced style. Surprisingly, this was when we made the big run. The threes were falling for us as we took a 56-46 halftime lead.

The threes continues to serve us well while LaMarcus worked it inside (and made a couple threes himself!) and our defense was strong. Things were looking perfect for us, up 20 in the fourth quarter. Then, Crash went down. His severe ankle sprain is expected to keep him out of the rest of the series.

The Warriors felt our pain though, as their starting small forward, Dorell Wright, went down with a lower back sprain. The Wallace injury led to us playing our bench for most of the fourth, and they actually held their own against the Warriors' starters, holding the lead thanks to more hot shooting from deep.

Escellent games from Kris Humphries and David Lee went to waste as they got nothing from their bench or Monta Ellis. In the post-game conference, Mark Jackson criticized his team's defense. "Hand down, man down, that's what I tell him, but mama, there goe's that man, LaMaMa. That's Aldridge's new nickname now. LaMama, there goes that man."

The series is now tied at a game apiece. The next two games will shift to the Rose Garden in Portland. Nicolas Batum is expected to start for Gerald Wallace, while Austin Daye will start if Wright is ruled out of game 3.

Series tied 1-1.

Celtics Go Home With 2-0 Lead

Boston 100, Chicago 96

Much like the 2010 playoffs, the Celtics were written off as done. "No way that old team is gonna get past Miami. They're washed-up," said one fan prediction on NBA.net. After defeating the Heat in a tough 7 game series, Boston has taken a 2-0 lead on the Bulls by shutting down everybody but Rose, and it's working. Is it safe to say the Celtics look like the current favorites to win the title?

Despite Dwight Playing Just 8 Minutes, Pacers Manage To Lose By 26

Orlando 111, Indiana 85

The plan was simple: keep Dwight out of the game with foul trouble. Fortunately for the Pacers, it worked! Unfortunately, they got blown out again anyway. Indiana got dominated on the boards, turned it over 30 times and was -13 from the free throw line. Frank Vogel became Frank Vocal after the loss: "Roy Hibbert is just bad. I mean, he's like Chris Kaman only he's bla-bl-blown assignments all the time. For us."

Trail Blazers Rout Warriors, Take Game 3
Blazers Saved By Bench Once Again

Portland forces another turrible shooting night from Curry

Portland 101, Golden State 83

May 19, 2012; Portland, OR - From the start, the Blazers dominated. Though they would not pull away until the second half, the Blazers' stifling defense and cohesive offense led to a blowout win.

With starting swingmen Wesley Matthews and Gerald Wallace out, former starters Brandon Roy and Nicolas Batum answered the call, combining for 48 points, 12 boards and 12 assists on 57% combined shooting. The Warriors were walked all over as the Blazers limited their turnovers, limiting fastbreak opportunities and making the most of their possessions. Other than Monta Ellis, who had a monster game with 32 points and 10 boards, Golden State was ice cold.

Nate McMillan was forced to play his bench, and while he didn't stop to the level of playing D-Leaguers Luke Babbitt and Chris Johnson, Portland got 66 of their 101 points by the reserves as well as usual reserves Roy and Batum. LaMarcus Aldridge quietly had an excellent game as well, posting a +31 to go with 23 points, 9 boards and 4 dimes. The majority of the fourth quarter was played with four of Mills, Nolan Smith, Elliot Williams, Carl Landry and ROnnie Turiaf.

The Blazers take a 2-1 lead, and can take a more commanding lead with a win at home in game 4. Warriors coach Mark Jackson guaranteed a Warriors win in that game. Following the game, Portland got some unfortunate news, as Wesley Matthews will opt for surgery and miss the rest of the playoffs. Gerald Wallace could make a return as soon as the conference finals.

Trail Blazers lead series 2-1.
