Need Iso Motion Tips :(

Postby alanschu on Fri Oct 21, 2011 12:03 pm

So in a weird twist of irony, my My Player game has become significantly more difficult as I have upped my 3 point shooting, because defenders close out on my much tighter. As a result, I no longer have as much space to try to attack the net as I keep getting hit into that annoying "bump my defender" animation (I have serious issues with this in general, especially trying to cut without the ball, but I imagine there's nothing I can do about it...) which prevents me from doing anything.

Any tips to keep in mind when trying to use isomotion and stuff like that? I probably need better "abilities" (they are average), but I find my ability to jab and move isn't fast enough to take a defender unless the defender just totally drops the ball and buys the fake like some cheap gasoline.... Should I use a different camera setting? Anything like that? Haha.

I have a dynamite mid range shot (95) but struggle to get it off. Perhaps I should stop trying to attack the net and find a way to create that way? My pull ups don't work nearly as well anymore because everyone and their dog pressures me. I had an easier time putting up 40+ point games with 60% shooting. Now I find myself hovering around 40% shooting despite not really trying to play the game any differently than I have been :S

The rare occasion I seem to pull off an isomotion move and get a lane to the net, but I'm not really sure if it was just blind stupid luck. (I'm going with luck).

Thanks!

Yep, me too. I think it's a gamplay issue, not really ur fault. They really cut down on ankle breaking this game. Use Custom sliders and turn down on-ball defense, maybe that will help. That bumping... worst animation in gaming history. Happens always when u try to attack, never happens when u are on defense...

Well to be honest, bumping will always happens (unless you euro-step with Dwyane Wade  )

If you're a shooter, stay as a shooter. Do Stepbacks to create space. User Escape Pull-Ups and call for pick and rolls by holding down the right bumper. You don't need to attack the basket, I learned this from playing MP with a 5'8 Guard.

^CPU can still bump you even if you do a euro step

Iso dirbbles are much harder this year imo. I personally doesn't feel that I am in control of the player when I do Iso dribbles. Size ups (the one where the player stands and do small dribbles) are basically useless unlike last where size ups can be cut off in the middle of the animation and then explode to the basket.

I actually have...In 2k11 eurostep was very effective. I use it most of the time esp during fast breaks in 2k11. But in 2k12 after the first step you make when he side steps the cpu can bump you and force a bad shot :|

I'm actually glad they patched euro-step, it was too much cheese! But i think they overpatched the bumps, they are unrealistic now!

I agree w/ you on that. Last year you can score easily w/ the euro step esp. against AI. But the bumps... I mean come on, this just makes the NBA players play like a bunch of amateurs.

Not only can sizeups not be interrupted, but off you look at your turbo bar, it drops as the sizeup animation if playing out.

Isomotion is pretty hard this year. My theory is that only one or two moves can get you the space you need to get to the bucket. Once you have some space start your layup attempt. I usually end up trying a euro step and end up with a step out jumper or something.

I barely use isomotion anymore. One on one I use the size ups and then the gather shots but let go of the RS before the shot starts giving me a nice signature move without picking up the dribble (sometimes)
Opinions are my own.

Well in my case I rarely use iso dribbles in 2k12 too. I found that pump fake and jab steps a more effective in trying to go to the basket than dribble moves. The post defense/offense though this year are awesome (Y) .
