Sliders - CPU and Player

Postby fjccommish on Wed Oct 12, 2011 10:09 am

Sliders are separated into CPU and (I think it's called) Player if you play the CPU.

Does that mean the CPU sliders apply to the CPU team, and the player sliders apply to the player I control, and every other player on my team (the player team)?

Or does that mean the CPU sliders apply to all players under CPU control? That means if I am the Bulls locked onto Rose, do the CPU sliders affect Deng when he shoots, or do player sliders affect him? Remember, at that point Deng is under CPU control.

Are you 100% certain of that? If neither team is controlled, CPU v CPU game, the sliders change to Home and Away. That leads me to think Player is for the entire player team, even if I only control one player.

I've always believed that to be the case; User represents the user-controlled team, CPU the AI-controlled opponent.

I quoted your own post and changed nothing because your assumption is correct or the same as many others would assume.

Right, that's what I suspect. Get the problem?

Generally it's a little too easy for the gamer, the guy holding the control pad, to hit shots. That's because gamers learn to perfectly time the release. So player shot sliders have to be lower than CPU. But since those player sliders apply to CPU guys on the player team, all the non human controlled teammates hit shots at a lower % than they should, and lower % when compared to like shooters on the CPU controlled team.

Make it difficult enough for the gamer to hit shots and all the teammates shoot horribly.

Make it easy enough for the cpu controlled teammates (in Myplayer or any player lock situation) and it's too easy for the gamer to hit shots.

The solution is to separate sliders between players under human control and CPU controlled players. Don't separate sliders by team.

Your scenario is only applicable to player lock though.

I don't think you can edit sliders for MP and CAL, sliders for those modes are in default values unless you use trainers or hacks.

Let me give you another scenario.

It is too easy to steal the ball from the ball handler. I can run into him, without even pressing the steal button or raising arms, dislodge the ball and grab it. Sometimes it happens accidentally when playing defense.

A few thoughts on how to combat this.

- Raise CPU strength, raise CPU ball handling - neither have worked.
- Lower user steal. It doesn't seem to make a difference for those "run into the player dislodge the ball" situations. But if it did my CPU controlled teammates (whether or not locked, people don't always guard the ball) would never make a steal.
- Raise Foul for user (reach in and/or blocking and/or charging) so I couldn't bump into the ball handler without a foul. No, can't do that, because then my CPU teammates would foul too often. The reason is they wouldn't change their play to accommodate the higher foul settings.

Anything done to curtail the user controlled steals will cause CPU teammates to foul too much or never make a steal.

The sliders are messed up!!! There's a glitch somewhere in them, cause no way the Raptors defense is that good, and my team doesn't play any and I have the Sliders evened out both ways!!! IF the sliders are even, how does the CPU shoot 61% and I shoot 49% and their up by 15 LOL, this game has issues, even rebounds, I'm out rebounded all the time, I always hated 2K's sliders

Strength is only used (as far as we know) for backing down while in the post-up position or boxing out. I don't know how that has anything to do with tweaking the steals.
Ball handling is more on if a player can do certain types of dribble animations.
What you want to tweak is the ball security rating (if it's still there for 2K12) but unfortunately it's not included in the global sliders afaik, it's only in the ratings edit for players. Also consider the off-hand dribbling rating.

imo the problem more or less lies in the :new: live ball physics for 2K12 with how you describe it (running/bumping into the player and the ball is loose).
