Thanks Andrew!
Exactly, here is the place where I offer MY patches. All I was describing above is, that some other guys have helped realizing this patch. Regarding to your request, I can only tell you that elgin's patch was a collecting job. He was searching for all released patches at that time and combined them to his big package. Consequently, there are much more players and teams, jerseys, etc. Therefore, the dbf and viv files are much bigger than the Originals. This can be a reason for a crushing game.
To solute this problem, you should start to create your own 'Elgin's Superchange - xcab edition 2011'. It's a lot of work for a patching beginner, but not very difficult. Just use EAGraph to copy all your favourite players and teams out of Elgin's files (fsh files inside viv files). Then think about the teams you can sacrafice. Afterwards rename the copied fsh files to those you want to overwrite (for example special/new teams to best of 50s, 60s, 70s, etc. teams). Then import the renamed fsh files into the Original viv files. Finally use DB commander to change the team names, so that they're matching.
All in all it's a job like a jigsaw puzzle. So you don't have to really create patches, but find the matching pieces inside a complete package and then substitute Original files to have a package that's not crushing.
I can't teach you all the details, but there is a tutorial to make the first step into 'our business'.
