Other video games, TV shows, movies, general chit-chat...this is an all-purpose off-topic board where you can talk about anything that doesn't have its own dedicated section.

Totally agree about looking more forward to the cutscenes. I pretty much dreaded the sections where you searched for clues. Those were no fun. One thing that bugged me was that no matter how shitty I did on a given case (failing at interrogation, putting the wrong guy away, killing 100 civilians, etc.), it had no bearing on the story. I just got a low score that the game gave me no reason to care about and that was it. On the last 6 or so missions, I got no higher than 2 stars, but it mattered little. Or does Cosgrove- I mean Cole live if you get all 5*'s or something?

I never played it, but I watched a walk through of the first few missions and it looked boring. It looked like most of the game was just watching cut scenes.

if a game is more like a movie, it should be mostly cutscenes with a few gameplay portions. from what you guys say, it seems that Heavy Rain > LA Noire. although LA Noire's facial animations are fucking ridiculous.

I doubt
he would've lived on. But one thing I noticed, you were able to choose between two guys to put away for arson, one was that Courtney guy who was a patient of that doctor and the other guy, Ryan or something (who I remembered from Malcolm in the Middle). And later on there was a cutscene where Cole was talking with the guy I spared on the streets. So I think the choices you made, although there were far too few of them, made a small impact on how the story was told, but the overall result stayed the same.

It pretty much is.
What annoyed me the most was that the game was played on a string. The only time you had to use your own detective instincts was during interrogations.
For example when you were told a number plate, it wasn't up to you what to do with it, but an icon immediately showed up for you to go the the telephone. Overall there was not much for you to figure out is what I'm saying. It lacked the riddles of an adventure game.

After that on July 12th, NCAA Football 12

Crysis 2 with the recently released DX11 and super high textures packs is pretty much fucking mindblowing. Wasn't sure at first if I could use those patches without lowering a bunch of settings, but I just had to disable v-sync, left everything else to max, and it's still quite smooth. Much recommend for PC gamers out there.

Okay, back to playing inFamous. Makes me glad the PSN got hacked because this game is fucking awesome. Fucking around isn't as fun as it was in Prototype, but unlike Prototype, this is a well designed, well made game with an actually decent story and deeper gameplay. Here's hoping Gamefly sends me inFamous 2 soon

With some Arkham City gameplay vids on the internet, made me want to play Arkham Asylum again. Also in the last couple of sequences on Assassin's Creed II.

I played some Crysis 2 DX11, but I kept hitting a seemingly random crash, causes the audio to repeat and I have to task manager out of the game.
Backbreaker Vengeance is some hilarious fun
and for some reason, The Sims 3....

No crash for me so far, but I know that Nvidia is still working on some drivers to fully support those latest additions. Even I had to revert to drivers from 2-3 months ago to be able to keep playing, since I had a game-breaking bug at the 4th or 5th level that would corrupt certain textures like crazy, and for some reason the latest Geforce drivers were causing this...
Still, it was well worth the headache, this game makes the CoD series look like point & click games, intensity-wise and visually too.

NCAA Football 12 Demo is pretty fun, and the presentation is good, although I've never really played football games before so yeah.

Fallout New Vegas is too much fun right now. Seriously.

I've pretty much played it to death but I know I'll be picking it up again later this month when the next DLC comes out.

I just bought fallout 3 GOTY edition off steam for $10 today.
I dont think I can end up enjoying these 2 games fully with the time I have lol.
Sat Jul 09, 2011 3:30 pm
Good deal.
Sat Jul 09, 2011 3:40 pm
Do you think playing falllout new vegas and fallout 3 side by side would be any fun or less fun either way?
Sat Jul 09, 2011 3:44 pm
Hard to say really. Having played them both extensively I can go back and forth but if you've still got a lot of New Vegas yet to explore, you might want to finish up with it first but then if you can usually enjoy playing a few different games at once it probably won't matter.
Sat Jul 09, 2011 10:21 pm
I think it would get confusing. Just run through New Vegas first is my opinion. Your going to be playing these games for a while. They can be long if you explore, but they can be a bit short if you just go through and finish the main quest.

I just began Fallout 3. And yeah. It leaves a very un satisfactory feeling. It only makes you feel that your progress is immensly slow because these two games are so similar in gameplay that u dont even feel like its a different experience. Feels like the storyline is just extending too much which wouldnt be fun, Much better to get involved with one world and enjoy the experience and then take my talents to the other to let myself get immersed in it as well
Sun Jul 10, 2011 7:31 pm
Sounds like the way forward is clear, then.

2k11, but dang, I've nailed two game winners online in two days.

Just finished the singleplayer campaign of Crysis 2. Great game but weak ending as usual.

that's the problem with games today. too many of them are trying to be more cinematic with all these damn cutscenes and whatnot, but when it comes to the end, it's usually a let down
Wed Jul 13, 2011 7:26 pm
Just Cause 2, for example. And all of the mainstream Assassin's Creed games.
