2012 NBA DRAFT - PRE-DRAFT

ESPN Narrator: Welcome to the 2012 NBA Draft, one of the showcase nights for the NBA where the league celebrates its stars of the future as they are dispersed across the league to breathe new life into struggling franchises and their fan bases. One good pick can change the face of a franchise, and one bad pick can set a team back a few years. Without further ado let's cross direct to the X, who is joined by his sidekick Stephen E. Smith."

Image

X: “Welcome fans as we get set to kick another fascinating draft night...."

Stephen E. Smith: “SIDEKICK! SIDEKICK? Did you pay these guys off or something?”

X: “Haha, no Stephen E., I wouldn't think of such a thing.”

Stephen E. Smith: “Whatever, I'll be watching you.”

X: “That's what sidekicks do isn't it? Haha.”

Stephen E. Smith: “I don't have to put up with this HARASSMENT! It's the 21st century after all.”

X: “I'm well aware of which century we're in Stephen E. Let's get back on track. 2012 NBA Draft, any initial thoughts Stephen E.?”

Stephen E. Smith: “In the words of my man Charles Barkley, IT'S TURRIBLE! Just plain turrible. If I was still 22, I think I could slap on the old Converse high-tops and get picked in the first round, that's how bad it is.”

X: “I agree with you in that it's a weak draft, but I wouldn't say it's as bad as you suggest. There's at least 15-20 players in this draft that will help a NBA team.”

Stephen E. Smith: “So you agree with me then? We only need to do the draft lottery then all the angry fans out there can go home?”

X: “The fans seem pretty jovial to me. There only seems to be one angry man tonight and he's sitting right next to me.”

Stephen E. Smith: “I might be happier if this draft had some PLAYAHS!!! No Timmy D's, no Allen Iverson's, no Lebron James', not even a Yao Ming. At least last year we had my boy, Perry Buchanan. He's gonna rip it up next year, you just wait.”

X: “There you go Stephen E., some positivity. We might yet redeem this night for you. So you've got your ear to the ground, anything interesting going on trade wise.”

Stephen E. Smith: “Actually there is. My sources tell me that MY NEW YORK KNICKERBOCKERS are looking to move up into the lottery and have a deal in place. He wouldn't let me know the specific but word is that it will be a top five pick, which is fortunate since there is only five or six good prospects in this draft.”

X: "Interesting, sounds like the fans here in Madison Square Garden could be in for a treat. Any other trade mumurs.”

Stephen E. Smith: “Yep X, the Sacramento Kings are trying to trade up one spot from number four to number three. Although it seems they're only offering the Timberwolves their mediocre backup centre Samuel Dalembert and the number four pick to move up one spot to the number three. We know David Kahn isn't the brightest tool in the shed, but even he's not that stupid. They naturally rebuffed the Kings on that one.”

X: "On the topic of Minnesota, whom hold three lottery picks in tonight's draft, there seem to be a lot of league conversations going around. Apparently Golden State is interested in the number three pick also but their offer of backup point guard Kyle Lowry and a future first round pick just won't cut it. The Celtics have also gotten into the action, offering two first round draft picks (#28 and their 2013 1st Round pick) in exchange for Swedish power forward Johan Svensson. Kahn apparently didn't even entertain the offer, he loves the Swede, as do the ladies of Minnesota.

We're out of time to chat for now Stephen E., let's cross direct to the Draft Stage where NBA Commissioner David Stern is about to announce the 1st pick of the 2012 NBA Draft."

Good stuff. No doubt that Stephen E. is disappointed that there are no players the calibre of RA-SHO NES-TER-O-VIC!...in this year's rookie crop.

Just trying to keep people interested. Writing it up now. Takes a while though since draft lottery alone is like a 3,000 word essay. Should be quicker than 2011 draft since I'll only be summarising 1st round post-lottery & 2nd round.

Stephen A. was right on the money there. Funny to think that there was the suggestion even for a moment that the Lakers could possibly have given up too much for Gasol.

My favourite bit wasn't that he was right, it was the verbal assault of Kwame Brown. I've never seen a player so picked apart. The part about small hands, not being able to catch a ball, he can't run, he's lost, I found it hilarious. Not good if you're Kwame though

I also liked his assault on the Raptors' pick of Villanueva back in 2005 draft ahead of the likes of Danny Granger. Unfortunately I couldn't find that one on YouTube.

I know most people hate Stephen A. Smith, but for me he made the drafts were entertaining.

Yeah the cold, blunt truth about Kwame was the highlight. Even though I'm not a fan of him he's definitely had his moments; I often thought he tried too hard to be outspoken, funny and insightful all at the same time and that his material was a little repetitive, but it did work sometimes and he does know a thing or two about the game. I thought Tom Tolbert was much worse.

2012 NBA DRAFT - LOTTERY

Image

1st ROUND (LOTTERY)

Stern: “With the 1st pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, the Minnesota Timberwolves select Jaime Buford from Vanderbilt University.”

1. Minnesota: SF- Jaime Buford, Vanderbilt, Sr, 6'8", 230lbs

X: “The 2012 National Player of the Year goes number one. He apparently really impressed the Wolves' brass in a workout and interview last week, so much so that they weren't willing to risk not getting him at three. Whilst he's played four years of Division One college, Jaime Buford still has tremendous upside. He's a strong all-round player who excels defensively and will really help the Timberwolves push up the Western Conference ranks.

There was a lot of talk in the leadup to the draft that the Wolves' need of a centre would dictate that Arkansas' Jesse Brown was the obvious pick, but when you're picking at number one you pick the best player with the best upside, as simple as that. The Timberwolves definitely got themselves a winner with this pick, your thoughts Stephen E.?”

Stephen E. Smith: “I actually think Colorado's Franklin Fleming is the best player in this draft but since the Wolves already have umpteen power forwards, I can understand them going with Buford, although Brown would fill their biggest need. Funny thing with this pick is that Buford might not even start in Minnesota. When was the last time a number one pick didn't start? The answer, Andrea Bargnani in 2006 and Kwame Brown in 2001. That's the only two number one overall picks who didn't start the majority of their games as a rookie. Both those drafts were about as weak as this one, so read into this as you will.”

X: “Interesting tidbit there Stephen E. I see you've been doing your research. Looks like Commissioner Stern is heading to the podium for a special announcement. It looks like a trade.”

Stern: “We have a trade to announce. The Phoenix Suns have traded the rights to their second overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, along with the contract of Hedo Turkoglu, to the New York Knicks for Anthony Randolph and Timothy Mozgov.”

[MADISON SQUARE GARDEN GOES CRAZY WITH FANS HUGGING, HIGH FIVING EACH OTHER AND CHEERING SO LOUDLY THAT YOU CAN'T HEAR YOURSELF THINK]

Stern: “The New York Knicks will pick next.”

TRADE:
NYK receives: #2 Pick in 2012 NBA Draft, SF- Hedo Turkoglu
Pho receives: SF- Anthony Randolph, C- Timothy Mozgov

Stephen E. Smith: “THE NEW YORK KNICKS ARE BACK IN THE BUILDING!!! YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST. THE NEW KNICKS ARE BACK IN THE BUILDING!!! DONNIE WALSH HAS JUST PROVED HIMSELF TO BE THE BEST GM IN THE GAME TODAY. HE JUST FLEECED SARVER AND COMPANY. WE GOT THAT PICK WITH CHICKEN FEED. WE DIDN'T NEED TO MORTGAGE OUR FUTURE. WHAT DID WE GIVE UP? SOME SKINNY KID WHO CHARLES OAKLEY WOULD USE TO FLOSS HIS TEETH AND SOME RUSSIAN GUY WHO'S NEVER PICKED UP A BASKETBALL IN HIS LIFE. LISTEN TO THAT CROWD. THE BEST SPORTS LOVING CITY IN THE WORLD, NYC BABY!!!”

X: “I'd have to agree with you there Stephen E., the Knicks definitely fleeced the Suns. Obviously Phoenix was once again cutting costs and did the deal to offload Hedo Turkoglu's toxic contract. A sad day for fans in the Valley of the Suns but a joyous one for the long suffering Knicks' fans. Stephen E., who have you got New York taking with this pick? They seem to have a hole in the centre and Jesse Brown could definitely fill that void.”

Stephen E. Smith: “I don't think they can lose with this pick X. They either go with best prospect in the draft in Franklin Fleming and just play him next to Amar'e, or they take Brown. Both players are strong defensively, which is key for the Knicks. For me, I'd like to see New York to take Jesse Brown. He's the tough SOB that the city of New York has missed inside since Charles Oakley left. God knows they need that toughness back before teams like the Heat take them seriously.”

X: “I guess we won't have to wait any longer, Commissioner David Stern is approaching the podium.”

Stern: “With the 2nd pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, the New York Knicks select Franklin Fleming from the University of Colorado.”

2. New York: PF- Franklin Fleming, Colorado, Sr, 6'9", 217lbs

X: “Looks like Knicks go with best available prospects and will sort out logistics later. Fleming is a 6'9" power forward with a nice wingspan that he uses to cause havoc close to the rim at both ends of the court. He's a good athlete but not a great one. I liken him to Joe Smith, when the Warriors picked him out of Maryland back in 1995. He's going to be a solid player at the very least, potentially an All-Star and the best player in this draft class if he can reach his ceiling.”

Stephen E. Smith: “Joe Smith?!? Way to try to upset many of the Knicks' fans here. Not the comparison I was looking for. I like the pick. Brown was probably the safer pick but the Knicks like to take a few gambles on draft night and him and Amar'e could be a great 1-2 frontcourt punch for years to come.”

X: “Minnesota is up. Let's see what Kahn does with their second lottery pick.”

Stern: “With the 3rd pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, the Minnesota Timberwolves select Jesse Brown of the University of Arkansas.”

3. Minnesota: C- Jesse Brown, Arkansas, Jr, 6'10", 234lbs

X: “Great pick for the Wolves. They picked the best available talent and also their position of greatest need. Brown might not start straight away but he will get solid minutes straight away because of his work on the defensive end and working the boards. He will add much needed depth to the centre position, where coach Triano has been forced to play Svensson slightly out of position for much of last season. Brown has great basketball IQ and is only going to get better.”

Let's cut back across to the draft stage where Commissioner Stern is about to announce the Kings' pick.”

Stern: “With the 4th pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, the Sacramento Kings select Tracy Lee of the University of California.”

4. Sacramento: SF- Tracy Lee, California, Sr, 6'8", 220lbs

X: “Big surprise here. Many thought the Kings would take one of the many solid point guards at this spot. Lee is a defensive specialist who can defend both forward spots. He's going to bring you steals, blocked shots, floor burns and a lot of energy. Think of him as a rich man's version of Renaldo Balkman meets Chris Andersen.”

Stephen E. Smith: “Bad pick. Bad, bad, bad pick. As I said earlier, there's only about five good prospects in this draft. If you're picking at four, it's a guarantee, no? The Kings should have drafted Burks or Andrew and/or traded the pick. I'm not going to waste my time discussing the Kings anymore. Outside of those few good years about a decade ago, the Kings as a franchise have sucked. This pick pretty much sums up everything wrong with them.”

X: “We now cross back to David Stern on the Draft Stage, with the Portland Trailblazers on the clock with the 5th pick.”

Stern: “With the 5th pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, the Portland Trailblazers select Gordon Burks from the University of Pennsylvania.”

5. Portland: PF- Gordon Burks, Penn, Jr, 6'8", 236lbs

X: “Great pick by the Blazers. Burks is the guy they wanted all along and he just fell into their laps. He's a bit undersized but has drawn comparisons to Elton Brand and Zach Randolph, that's how highly GM's think of him. Many GM's rated him the best power forward in the draft, ahead of Colorado's Franklin Fleming, whom went number two to the Knicks. Burks has good upside and high basketball IQ, but you wouldn't expect anything else from somebody who went to an Ivy League school and graduated a year early. Burks is going to get playing time straight away as a backup to LaMarcus Aldridge and will play next to him at times. He's going to give the team a chance to re-tool and press for a playoff berth in the West. Thoughts Stephen E.?”

Stephen E. Smith: “Can’t argue with you there X on Burks. Although calling them a potential playoff team is laughable. They are once again stinking up the Pacific Northwest and have gone downhill with Brandon Roy's knees and toxic contract.”

X: “The Brooklyn Nets are up next. They picked up Leslie Berry last year so seems unlikely they'll look at BYU's Andrew Andrew. I'm thinking they'll lean more towards a backup point guard and future successor for Devin Harris.”

Stern: “With the 6th pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, the Brooklyn Nets select Max Gomez from the University of Texas.”

6. New Jersey: PG- Max Gomez, Texas, Sr, 6'3", 190lbs

X: “A solid pick for the Nets. Widely considered the best point guard in the college game, Gomez has good size for a point guard, he's a good defender, he'll make the right plays and he's tough as nails. He may seem unlikely to ever make the All-Star team, but I expect him to have a long career ahead of him. What's your take Stephen E.?”

Stephen E. Smith: “They like them tough in Brooklyn and Gomez won't disappoint. Sure he won't make them a playoff team but hey, the Nets never are.”

X: “The Detroit Pistons are up next.”

Stern: “With the 7th pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, the Detroit Pistons select Andrew Andrew from Brigham Young University.”

7. Detroit: SG- Andrew Andrew, BYU, Sr, 6'7", 205lbs

X: “The crowd likes this pick. All-American Andrew Andrew electrified the nation as a senior and the Mormon Nation really got behind him. He's got a cult following and regardless of how he plays as a rookie, the Pistons will sell more tickets. I don't expect him to start for Detroit but he'll get his fair share of opportunities along the way.”

Stephen E. Smith: “He's a top five talent in this draft. What would I say to this kid? Good luck, that's what I'd say. Good luck living in Detroit. You're not in Utah anymore Andrew Andrew. What kind of name is that anyways? Did his parents run out of ideas for kid's names?”

X: “I've stopped trying to understand or explain some names. Whilst we're on the topic Stephen E., what does the E stand for?”

Stephen E. Smith: “Never you mind X. 76ers are up."

Stern: “With the 8th pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, the Philadelphia 76ers select Willis Lewis of Louisiana State University.”

8. Philadelphia: SG- Willis Lewis, LSU, Jr, 6'3", 210lbs

X: “Very unusual pick. He'll be behind two very good young shooting guards in Evan Turner and Ciro Nunez, so he won't play. Unless this pick is for someone else, which seems unlikely, seems a wasted pick. Philadelphia would've been better grabbing somebody like Arkansas power forward Mark McCloud and bolster up their frontline more. The guard situation was already fine between Turner, Nunez, Holiday and Louis Williams.

Let's see if Sacramento can do any better with their second lottery pick.”

Stern: “With the 9th pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, the Sacramento Kings select Thierry Trichet from Argentina and France.”

9. Sacramento: PG- Thierry Trichet, France, 6'3", 185lbs

X: “The Kings fill a hole at point guard. Trichet will battle Aussie Patrick Mills for the starting point guard spot. This marks the second straight year that the Kings have selected a point guard in the lottery. They will be hoping that the Thierry pick helps fans forget about the team taking Washburn last year. I preferred Hasselhoff over Trichet, but the Kings must think that the Frenchmen is a better fit.

The Spurs are up for the first lottery pick since they took Tim Duncan with the first pick in the 1997 NBA Draft. Naturally they won't be getting a player of his calibre, but they've drafted well in the past, so let's see what they can do.”

Stern: “With the 10th pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, the San Antonio Spurs select Franklin Murray of the University of Oregon.”

10. San Antonio: SF- Franklin Murray, Oregon, Sr, 6'10", 233lbs

X: “The Spurs add a stretch 3, which they haven't had since Robert Horry retired. I thought they might go with Christophe Hasselhoff with this pick to get a backup for Tony Parker, but they elected to try and find some frontcourt help for Duncan. A solid pick.

Ahh Stephen E., nice of you to re-join us. Is that what I think it is? Are you eating Cheez Doodles?”

Stephen E. Smith: “A man's gotta eat.”

X: “Memphis are up next, at number 11."

Stern: “With the 11th pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, the Memphis Grizzlies select Mark McCloud of the University of Arkansas.”

11. Memphis: PF- Mark McCloud, Arkansas, Jr, 6'8", 240lbs

X: “A nice pickup late in the lottery. McCloud will back up last year's pick Dion Baylor, whom Stephen E. called a loser last year.”

Stephen E. Smith: “Why do you keep bringing up the past. If you want to talk about the Grizzlies and the past, present and future, well they stink, as simple as that. A waste of my time even discussing them.”

X: “We wouldn't want to do that now, would we? Stern is coming out now to announce Indiana's pick.”

Stern: “With the 12th pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, the Indiana Pacers select Christophe Hasselhoff from Augsburg, Germany.”

12. Indiana: PG- Christophe Hasselhoff, Germany, 6'2", 175lbs

X: “Seems like a rather large contingent of German fans are at Madison Square Garden tonight. They've got their David Hasselhoff paddle stick faces on display to show their approval. Whilst they might be jovial to see 'The Hov' go in the lottery, it's a bit strange where he ended up. You see the Pacers already have three point guards under contract (Darren Collison, Ramon Sessions and T.J. Ford). Whilst I project a good career for Hasselhoff, he doesn't appear to have a chance to get any minutes for the foreseeable future. Your thoughts Stephen E.?”

Stephen E. Smith: “Larry Bird has been talking too much to David Kahn. I HAVE NO OTHER EXPLANATION.”

X: “Detroit are on the clock. They are probably disappointed Hasselhoff got picked up one spot before they picked but there are still a few pretty good point guards available."

Stern: “With the 13th pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, the Detroit Pistons select Marvin Hale from Miami University of Ohio.”

13. Detroit: PG- Marvin Hale, Miami (OH), Sr, 6'3", 181lbs

X: “This is a great pickup late in the lottery. The Pistons continue to retool their backcourt and take the best available player. Just like Andrew Andrew, senior point Hale is a great leader and slid further down than he probably should have. Some GM's rank him as the top point guard prospect in the draft, yet he's the fourth taken. Hale has been compared to Steve Nash, but I think that's because of the similarity of their mid-major backgrounds. Hale's upside isn't as high as Nash's, although even if he's a poor man's version, in this draft the Pistons would have to consider themselves winners. Stephen E.?”

Stephen E. Smith: “SINCE WHEN IS MIAMI IN OHIO? SHAME THE CAVS DIDN'T CONVINCE LEBRON JAMES TO TAKE HIS TALENTS TO OHIO'S VERSION OF SOUTH BEACH.”

X: “In the end it didn't turn out to bad for the Cavs. They were the 2011/12 NBA Champions.

Minnesota are up next, as they make their third and final lottery pick. They've done pretty well so far. Let's see what Kahn has in store for us.”

Stern: “With the 14th pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, the Minnesota Timberwolves select Dwight Woolridge from the University of Kansas.”

14. Minnesota: PG- Dwight Woolridge, Soph, 6'5", 172lbs

Stephen E. Smith: “KAHN!!! He couldn't help himself. He can't seem to go a draft without selecting a point guard. I'm sure he'll have some sort of spin on the pick and why it's so great, but to me this reeks of Reece Gaines all over again.”

X: “Indeed an interesting pick by Kahn given the Timberwolves' point guard depth. This could suggest a trade is on its way as otherwise it's a horrible pick. I thought the Wolves might take South Carolina swingman Richard Sharpe or maybe Penn small forward Brandon Payton.

Word is that Kahn fell in love with Woolridge's size at the point guard position and envisions being able to play him next to Floyd Bradley at times, and have Woolridge defend the opposing team's shooting guard. Woolridge is a steady point guard who makes smart decisions. Many thought he should have stayed in college for another season but being a lottery pick vindicates his early departure from Lawrence.”

2012 NBA DRAFT – 1st ROUND (POST-LOTTERY)

ESPN Narrator: We welcome you back to the 2012 NBA Draft and we pick things up after the lottery selections have concluded. The Utah Jazz are on the clock with the 15th pick as we once again cross to the Draft Stage where NBA Commissioner David Stern is set to announce Utah's pick."

Image

1st ROUND (POST-LOTTERY)

15. Utah: SF- Brandon Payton, Penn, Soph, 6'8", 235lbs
16. Milwaukee: PF- Jeffery Morgan, West Virginia, Soph, 6'8", 225lbs

Stern: “We have a trade to announce. The Minnesota Timberwolves trade Marcel Moore to the New York Knicks for Jeff Pendergraph and the number 17 pick in this draft.”

TRADE:
Min receives: PF- Jeff Pendergraph, 2012 1st Rd Pick (#17)
NYK receives: PG- Marcel Moore

X: “This goes some ways to explaining what Kahn was doing a few picks earlier when he took Kansas' Dwight Woolridge. Pendergraph is just a throw-in to match contracts, Kahn wanted the draft pick.”

Stephen E. Smith: “Walsh does it again!!! I don't say this often, but give this man a raise, he's doing a great job. Moore is a much better player than anything we can get at this spot. Walsh is preying on Kahn's love of drafting point guards.”

X: “Minnesota is up.”

Stern: “With the 17th pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, the Minnesota Timberwolves select Richard Sharpe from the University of South Carolina.”

17. Minnesota: SG- Richard Sharpe, South Carolina, Soph, 6'8", 190lbs

X: “Word is Kahn really fell in love with Sharpe. The long lefty has great size for a SG and is a solid athlete. He needs to get better at finishing around the basket, but he's a very solid pick.”

Stern: “With the 18th pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, the Charlotte Hornets select Jon Sweetney from Virginia Union University.”

18. Charlotte: PG- Jon Sweetney, Virginia Union, Soph, 6'3", 176lbs

X: “I was about to say what a good pick it was for Charlotte, but it appears this pick is headed to Detroit in exchange for guard Junior Smith and a future first round draft pick.”

TRADE:
Cha receives: PG- Junior Smith, 2013 1st Rd Pick (Det)
Det receives: PG- Jon Sweetney (#18)

19. LA Lakers: PG- Joe Macy, Georgetown, Soph, 6'4", 194lbs
20. Chicago: SG- Dale Harmon, Seton Hall, Soph, 6'4", 220lbs
21. Houston: SF- Kelvin Harris, Providence, Jr, 6'10", 222lbs
22. New Orleans: PF- Stephen Posey, Xavier (OH), Sr, 6'9", 236lbs
23. Denver: PF- James Wells, Wyoming, Sr, 6'8", 216lbs

Re: X's T'wolves Association (NBA 2K11): NBA DRAFT

Image 2012 OFF-SEASON RECAP - NBA DRAFT

2012 NBA DRAFT – 2nd ROUND

ESPN Narrator: With the 1st Round completed, let’s cross to NBA Deputy Commissioner Adam Silver, who is handling the 2nd Round picks, commencing with the Phoenix Suns."

Image

2nd ROUND

31. Phoenix: PG- Greg Buchanan, Vanderbilt, Sr, 6'1", 200lbs
32. Portland: PF- Gabe Richardson, Missouri, Sr, 6'10", 236lbs
33. LA Clippers: SG- Erno Szerb, Hungary, 6'6", 222lbs
34. Memphis: PG- Chip Norris, Northwestern, Jr, 6'0", 184lbs
35. Sacramento: PG- Mitch Childress, Auburn, Jr, 6'3", 176lbs

Silver: “With the 36th pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, the Toronto Raptors select Alonzo Warren from Vanderbilt University.”

36. Toronto: C- Alonzo Warren, Vanderbilt, Soph, 7'4", 237lbs

X: “It’s looks like Kahn is at again, it appears a trade is in place for the rights to Vanderbilt 7'4" centre Alonzo Warren (picked #36) in a three team trade with Toronto and Cleveland. The trade is contingent on Minnesota acquiring a second round pick to include in the deal. We'll provide more details as they come in.”

37. Philadelphia: PF- Jessie Moncrief, Minnesota, Soph, 6'9", 244lbs
38. Orlando: PF- Keith Ryan, Indiana, Soph, 6'7", 259lbs
39. San Antonio: PG- Steve Pederson, Ole Miss, Jr, 6'1", 192lbs
40. Washington: SF- Stuart Daugherty, Virginia Union, Jr, 6'9", 223lbs
41. Washington: SF- Jeff Townsend, West Virginia, Jr, 6'6", 226lbs
42. Cleveland: SG- Corie Bass, Iowa, Jr, 6'7", 221lbs
43. New York: SG- Pat Morgan, George Washington, Sr, 6'4", 221lbs
44. Utah: SG- Dimitris Papadopoulous, Greece, 6'3", 221lbs
45. Brooklyn Nets: PG- Barry Sutton, Tulane, Soph, 6'2", 205lbs

Silver: “We have a trade to announce. The Golden State Warriors trade the draft rights of Fidel Hernandez and the number 46 pick to the Milwaukee Bucks for Drew Gooden.”

TRADE:
GSW receives: PF- Drew Gooden
Mil receives: PF- Fidel Hernandez (#25), 2012 2nd Rd Pick (#46)

X: “A minor deal that probably helps both teams. The Warriors are looking for some more frontcourt depth and experience and Drew Gooden fits that bill, meanwhile the Bucks were looking to offload Gooden's contract.”

46. Milwaukee: SG- Tony Chambers, Tulsa, Sr, 6'4", 213lbs

X: “In other trade news, it looks like Kahn has acquired that second round pick that was required to complete their three way deal. Adam Silver is about to announce it, along with Minnesota's draft pick, which will be conveyed to Cleveland.”

Silver: “We have a trade to announce. The Minnesota Timberwolves have traded Benjamin Dragic to the New York Knicks for Kris Humphries and the number 47 pick in this draft.”

TRADE:
Min receives: PF- Kris Humphries, 2012 2nd Rd Pick (#47)
NYK receives: PF- Benjamin Dragic

Silver : “With the 47th pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, the Minnesota Timberwolves select Freddie Harrison of St. John's University.”

47. Minnesota: PF- Freddie Harrison, St. John's (NY)

X: “As mentioned earlier, this is actually a pick made on behalf of Cleveland. Stephen E., can you fill our viewers in on the three way trade that has gone down?”

Stephen E. Smith: “There is a three team trade between Cleveland, Minnesota and Toronto. It can't be made official tonight but it has been agreed upon in principle. To summarise it, the Cavs will give up guard Aaron Afflalo to Minnesota and receive guard Wayne Ellington and the rights to forward Freddie Harrison (#47) from Minnesota, as well as Toronto's 2013 second round draft pick. In addition to their 2013 second round draft pick going to Cleveland, the Raptors will give up the rights to centre Alonzo Warren (#36) to Minnesota and will receive Nikolai Pekovic back from Minnesota.”

TRADE:
Cle receives: SG- Wayne Ellington (from Min), PF- Freddie Harrison (#47 - from Min), 2013 2nd Rd Pick (from Tor)
Min receives: SG- Aaron Afflalo (from Cle), C- Alonzo Warren (#36 - from Tor)
Tor receives: C- Nikolai Pekovic (from Min)

X: “Thanks Stephen E. There is a bit to that deal, but it seems to help each respective team. The Cavs essentially swap Afflalo for Ellington and also add some more frontcourt depth and a future second round draft pick. The Timberwolves strengthen their shooting guard position slightly, as well as nab an intriguing 7'4" prospect who can be stashed in the D-League for a couple of seasons. They had to also give up Pekovic to Toronto, but I think they will be glad to get rid of the contract of the seldom used Euro. Finally, they also essentially swapped Dragic to New York for Kris Humphries. Toronto meanwhile strengthens its weak centre position and Pekovic will have a legitimate shot of getting big minutes for the Raptors.”

48. Charlotte: C- Gheorghe Constantin, Romania, 6'11", 260lbs
49. Cleveland: PG- Malik Vincent, Louisville, Soph, 6'1", 186lbs
50. Cleveland: PG- Russ Givens, North Carolina, Sr, 6'0", 203lbs
51. Brooklyn Nets: SF- Jaime Nixon, Georgia, Jr, 6'9", 231lbs
52. Houston: SF- Theodore Holland, Tulane, Sr, 6'6", 221lbs
53. LA Lakers: SF- Keith Welsch, Washington State, Soph, 6'10", 211lbs
54. New Orleans: SG- Byron Hawkins, Tulsa, Sr, 6'6", 200lbs
55. Golden State: SF- Kelly Patton, Indiana State, Jr, 6'8", 214lbs
56. Dallas: SF- Alex Cummings, Mississippi State, Jr, 6'5", 210lbs
57. Atlanta: SF- Colin Malone, Colorado, Sr, 6'5", 235lbs
58. Oklahoma City: PF- Gordon Hopkins, Vanderbilt, Soph, 6'10", 252lbs
59. Boston: PF- Austin Keller, Texas A&M, Soph, 6'9", 247lbs
60. Miami: C- Bryce Bowman, LaSalle, Soph, 7'1", 251lbs

X: “And with the Miami's final pick in the second round, that concludes the 2012 NBA Draft. How did you see the night going Stephen E.? Who were your biggest winners, losers, biggest steals and biggest reach of the night?”

Stephen E. Smith: “Biggest winners were obviously my New York Knicks. They started the night with two mediocre picks and turned it into Franklin Fleming, Marcel Moore, Benjamin Dragic and Hedo Turkoglu. Furthermore the Knicks gave up none of their key pieces, so they'd have to be the winner for me. No steals in this draft, as it's weak.

Biggest losers on the night were the Suns, who essentially gifted the Knicks the number two pick for Anthony Randolph and salary cap relief. They also squandered their only other pick in the draft on point guard Greg Buchanan, who I thought I had no right being drafted at all, let alone at the top of the second round.”

X: “I'd have to agree that the Suns were the clear losers on the night. I don't know what they were thinking. The Sacramento Kings alsolet themselves down by taking forward Tracy Lee at four over Gordon Burks and Andrew Andrew.

Aside from the Knicks, I really like what Detroit did in picking up three quality prospects (Andrew Andrew, Marvin Hale and Jon Sweetney) and their backcourt should be set for years to come. I think Minnesota definitely strengthened their roster with their picks and trades that they made, but I don't think it will make them a significantly better team, just slightly better. The biggest steal will probably be Brandon Payton at 14 to the Jazz and the biggest reaches were forward Tracy Lee at four and Dwight Woolridge at 14."

ESPN Narrator: "Well that concludes the 2012 NBA Draft. I hope you all enjoyed yourself and we'll see you next year."

Hopefully not too much of a bore for you guys.

Let me know if there are any major errors. A lot of words & copied 2011 draft template so may not have updated something I should have.

Cheers,

Is Willis Lewis not your alter ego? Or did I get details wrong? He went #8 to Philly.

Wow, the Meal Ticket and Mozgov for Hedo and the 2nd pick? Well done, Walsh. Hedo's contract sucks, but the Knicks are used to toxic contracts, having several of them in the mid 00s. :P

I hope your picks turn out well and can contribute right away. :)

As do I. I also sent Mark & Dragon's NLSC-ers away to Knicks in the hope that they will flourish elsewhere. I would've been holding them back otherwise.

Yeh, he's me.

I think Philly has an affection for me, so far I've been drafted to Philly in Sit's and now yours. :P

I think that's a really good trade for Phoenix if Randolph pans out like he has in my game. He's rated in the mid 90's

I too, am also curious as to what the E. in Stephen E. stands for. :P Going number 6 to Brooklyn isn't bad, better than having to wear the purple in Sacramento.

It felt as if you had 15 draft picks this draft, but ultimately I think Kahn fared well in a weak draft. Really interested in how Alonzo Warren's career will turn out. Could he be the next Mark Eaton???
