Three Team Trade: Rudy Fernandez, Luis Scola To Domination- Tony Allen, Shannon Brown To New Orleans- Dion Dowell, Mario West To Washington



It has been confirmed: Hornets star Rudy Fernandez is out of New Orleans, and will now play a sixth man role in North Carolina. "I like the sound of this. Playing as a sixth man was fun in Portland, and it'll be fun again. It's better because I can score better now, and I'm a better defender. I can also play three positions. I hope to be the piece that takes this young team to the top."

New Orleans receives Washington guard Tony Allen as well the Domination's Shannon Brown and Badu Thomas. The Hornets were forced to send talented forward Dion Dowell to Washington and little-used reserve Tudor Carter to North Carolina. Rumors are that Tudor Carter is already being shopped.

The Domination also receive an injury-riddled Luis Scola. After being known as a very durable player for years, Scola broke down completely at the end of the 2010-2011, and he has only played eight games since- for four different teams. This is his fifth team in two years. In his only game with the Wizards, he scored 17 points and 9 rebounds in 22 minutes, before leaving the game and sitting out six more games with a sore right knee. There are indications he may retire in the near future, but he plans to play as a key bench player for the Domination.

Denver Nuggets Preview

Next game is against Denver. Denver has been insanely good since they acquired Blake Griffin. JR Smith has become a fully fledged star as a starter, Chauncey Billups is playing like he was in 2004, and Carmelo is as good as ever. They also have a sharpshooting 7'1 big man Roderigo Berlattelli, who is basically a better defending and rebounding version of Andrea Bargnani, except he doesn't score quite as much with such a talented team.

On the other side, the Domination look to play hard, with Rudy Fernandez and Luis Scola likely making their debuts, Tyson Chandler has had his best offensive year so far, and Corey Harrington looks like he's itching to score big on some team.

The Domination recently acquired Tudor Carter. Carter is a 6'9 combo forward who could even slide down to play a bit at the 2. However, he is a raw prospect and the Domination do not want him. He has the shooting touch of Ben Wallace, will likely rebound worse than his team's reserve point guards, and he would make Andrea Bargnani look like Defensive Player Of The Year. However, he is very strong and has a solid inside game and has shown potential that has intrigued many teams. The Domination already have three trades lined up, and are ready to pull the trigger on one of them.

Tudor Carter to Miami for Bonzi Wells. Wells contributed well to Miami last season, but they now have a lot of old guys at the 2 and they want some youth. Wells has improved his 3-point shot and is fairly athletic for a guy his age. Wells is 37 and can bring veteran experience to the squad, while acting as a solid third-string guard.

Tudor Carter to Dallas for John Salmons. This would be interesting. The Domination would get a big steal here, but Salmons' could prove to be too much. He is owed eight million dollars in each of the next three seasons, and as a young team, they want to save up cap space. His game startlingly resembles that of Rudy Fernandez's and his presence could be redundant, but there is no denying the talent the Domination could gain.

Tudor Carter, Acie Law, and Eric Rivers to Toronto for Kyle Lowry. Lowry, when not injured, has been a very solid backup for Toronto. He averages seven points and six assists from off the bench and analysts say he would be an ideal backup to Corey Harrington. But how much do they like Lowry, and how much do they value their own Acie Law?

Which one did Zee Otoo pull the trigger on? I'll post after I get back from my vacation this weekend. Trade scenario: The first one. Bonzi Wells is a good wing backup, and as stated, he'd bring veteran leadership to the roster. Since he's contributing well to a championship team, I'd imagine he could also contribute to a perennial playoff team, given the minutes. Picked this one because the other scenarios don't seem right to me. The second one, you don't need John Salmons, and that's too big a contract for a team that wants cap space. The third one, I don't think you'll take a chance on an injury-prone Lowry, and Acie Law is a good scoring threat from off the bench anyways, and he seems to be fitting in well with your team.

Aaron Ingraham [PG- 5'11]: He's under six feet tall, but he packs a punch. He's a great shooter and a solid passer, but he makes questionable decisions on the court, and isn't really capable at this point of running an NBA offense. His defense isn't much to talk about either. At best, he'll be a backup on a playoff team for a couple years, but after that, the sky is the limit. I expect a playoff team like the Mavericks or the Thunder to pick him late in the first round.

Evan Fields [SG/SF- 6'8]: We could be seeing the next Kobe Bryant, or we could be seeing the next big bust. Fields is having an incredible college career, averaging 29.2ppg, 6.6apg and 7.5rpg, but he relies a little too much on his jump shot and his athleticism to get points and rebounds, and to play defense. He may not be the LeBron James of college basketball, but he's getting there. He can even play four positions. He's got tons of superstar potential, but there's also a lot of similarities between him, Evan Turner, and Adam Morrison, that will turn teams away. However, there is really no question that he'll be gone in the lottery.

Ray Barrett [SF/SG- 6'6]: Teams will likely draft on who will help them right away. Ray Barrett is 22 years old, and will be ready to contribute to any team. He can score, defend, rebound, you name it. His ceiling may not be as high as guys taken after him, but he's probably the only guy in the draft who will be able to come right out and play at an All-Star level, and then play at that level for about 10 years. The only glaring hole in his game is his post game, but at 6'6, that's not a huge deal. He'll just dunk over you anyway. He's a possibility for the top pick, depending on who that will be, but I think he's a clear-cut top-5 pick.
Strengths: All-Around Game, Athleticism, Scoring Ability, Ball-Handling, Instant Contributor
Weaknesses: Steals, Post Game, An OK Three-Point Shooter, Not Much Muscle, Occasional Injuries

Grant Peterson [SF/SG/PF- 6'10]: A sharpshooting swingman with great size, Peterson will be a good option for any team looking for size or extra shooters. He has a lot of quirks in his game: he's a hopeless passer and fairly trigger-happy when behind the arc. He can't really help out much on defense, but he can really rack up points when he gets into a rhythm. Projected to be a late first-rounder, I think he'd be better suited as an early second-rounder. He could be a rotation player on a bad team, but he'll likely be stuck as a tenth or eleventh guy on a good playoff team like the Mavericks or Heat.
Strengths: Three-Point Shooting, Quickness, Size, Free-Throws, Rebounding
Weaknesses: Defense, Passing, Shot Chucker, Turnover-Prone, Gets into Foul Trouble

Part 2

I am damn impressed with one of the guys I saw this week: UNLV's Ronny Ramos. He's an obvious lottery pick, probably a top five pick. This is one hell of a draft class and this guy is the best that I've seen so far. Think about Amare Stoudemire or Tyson Chandler then add a lethal mid range jump shot. He's a little soft on the glass by NBA standards, but he's seven feet and an inch tall. He's not A bad rebounder by any stretch of the imaginstion, but he can improve. Same goes with his defense.

He's a forward in a large center's body. I think he could be suited to play the 4 or even take the role of an enormous 3 with his amazing mobility on the court and his shooting ability, in case his team goes really big. He's got a crazy 7'5 wingspan. That makes it so easy on the court to get rebounds and block shots and score over anyone else, that he gets lazy, usually on the glass and on defense.

His offense is simply outstanding for a 19 year old kid. He's a natural born scorer with range to just inside the three point line. He shoots over 70% from the field and 85% from the line. He doesn't force shots, and is a great passer for his size. His offensive game is basically Amare Stoudemire's game, just not quite as good yet. He's as athletic, strong, and has near-Dwight Howard hops. It scares me to think what could have been. I've found out that injuries nearly derailed his high school career.

The main thing that will scare off teams is his extensive injury history, which completely shocked me. This barely-nineteen year old kid who has been playing at a near NBA all-star level tore his ACL under a year ago, and the UNLV coach says that Ramos is "still recovering". Before that he's missed many games with ankle sprains, knee soreness, and other various injuries that date back many years. There's no denying Ramos is the next big thing in the NBA, as long as he stays healthy long enough. But, seriously, if you're playing at his level on a healing ACL, imagine him playing perfectly healthy!

I think he's worth the risk, but unless we lose every game from here on out, there's no chance he drops far enough for us to draft him.

Tyson Chandler Goes Clutch In Double-OT Thriller Versus Nuggets

Denver and North Carolina had a highlight-reel to themselves, as they were the only teams playing on January 19th. The show not only impressed, it DELIVERED. The lineup featured four of the league's best dunkers: Denver's Blake Griffin and J.R. Smith, and North Carolina's Corey Harrington and Tyson Chandler. The game also featured the debut of Luis Scola and a star sixth man, Rudy Fernandez. He didn't disappoint either, scoring 20 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists, and shot 4-10 from outside: a statline nearly identical to that of Jared Dudley's.

The game stayed extremely close the whole time, and neither team held a double-digit lead at any point. With the game tied at 109 at the end of regulation, the Domination faced a new challenge. Jared Dudley fouled out on the opening play of the first overtime. Soon after, Acie Law did the same. Then Corey Harrington drew a foul on Chauncey Billups, fouling him out as well. Billups left with 25 points and 8 assists. With each team down a key player, J.R. Smith and Corey Harrington had a showdown. Each scored 8 points in the first overtime. With three seconds left, Nene blocked his former teammate Al Harrington on a layup attempt, taking the game to a second overtime at 124. This is where Tyson Chandler would shine. He grabbed his final four rebounds and scored six points, including the tie-breaking, game-winning, buzzer-beating throwdown on opposing center Roderigo Berlatelli.

Tudor Carter Traded To Miami for Bonzi Wells

Recently acquired sophomore forward Tudor Carter was traded to the Miami Heat for 36-year-old guard Bonzi Wells today. Wells had been with the championship team for two years, and played as a tenth man for both Miami championship teams. He has taken a step back this season and has fallen out of Miami's rotation. Miami, coveting a young, versatile forward had their eyes set on Carter, who may be a couple years away from playing consistent minutes in the NBA. He was in and out of the D-League last season and played for three different teams, before New Orleans gave him a five-year contract worth about $1.3M per year.

Domination GM Zee Otoo made this statement soon after the trade was confirmed: "We are pleased to welcome another veteran to our squad. We hope Bonzi can help lead our team with his experience and his recently-acquired shooting ability."

Wells made this statement on Twitter, not long after: "NC is a better team then the Heat, cause I play for them now. GO NORTH CAROLINAAAAAAAA."
Soon after this statement, LeBron James tweeted: "No one should wear the number 27 in respect to the great Bonzi Wells. The league should retire #27."
Wells: "Your not so great either. You missed half of last years playoffs. I played every game."
