I traded for KG because I thought him retiring during the off season was a sure thing. Turns out I was wrong. I went to the headlines screen & saw KG wanted to extend his contract. I was unsure about it since my #1 goal (besides winning the title) is resigning Love & Mayo in the off season. KG was asking for 1 more year for 8 million, a big pay cut from the 21 million he's getting for this season, so I pulled the trigger.

I've been really dominating lately. I blew out the Lakers, a bit of revenge for beating me in the 2nd round 4-1 last season. Nash, on his way to his 2nd straight MVP award, had 40 points vs Charlotte. I made 12 3 pointers with him, 9 of them in the 2nd half.

Re: The "How is your Dynasty/Association going" Thread

Postby mpac on Wed Jun 15, 2011 9:23 pm

i got tired with the Jordan Challenge and start a new association with the Celtics.

I retained the Big Three, and traded Jeff Green, Shaq, Big baby, Bradley for Al Horford, pachulia Powell, and 2011 1st pick.

So far we got the Center problem solved and we are 7-2 standing.

My concern now is i dont have some legit backup for the wing position, which is preferably young athletic and has defense. Though Wafer and west is playing well, i still need someone who can fill in the gap when Pierce is resting. As for now, I shifted Troy Murphy to SF hehe.

My trade bait is kristic (morale - uneasy), Powell (pachulia is playing better than him), and one of my picks ( Hawks 1st pick, Celtics 1st and 2nd picks)

Any suggestions? :)

Trade Powell for a backup SF, maybe someone like Cunningham from the Bobcats.

i tried looking for Cunningham but noticed that he has low potential and defense. :( Thanks!

finally i found a trade - josh powell and arroyo plus celtics 2nd pick for Courtney Lee :) Then i get a SF from free agent, Othryus Jeffers (?) just to fill in the spot in case of injuries.

I am still planning to trade krstic once he get back from an injury, possibly for a PG. hehe then its good to go :D

Just had my first game against the Clippers after the Gibbs/Griffin trade. It gave me a bit of sellers remorse to be honest. We won by 15, Blake had 22/13 which was cool but Gibbs was a beast. He finished with 26/12 and basically did whatever he wanted out there. They were using him so much different to how I did, they kinda played him like Brook Lopez, taking a lot of mid range jumpers and stuff. I always just tried to post him up. Doesn't explain why he rebounded like a bitch on my team though.

Antonio Vaughn started for Serge Ibaka who is injured, finished with 14/8 which was a good effort considering he's rated in the 60's. I gave him a +10 potential boost in the off-season with my reward points and he's at 83 for potential, thinking about giving him another one and getting him into the 90's since he's only 20 or 21.

I think with rookies & young guys you've got to give them a chance & play them differently. I know with some of mine I've been shooting like 35% to start the season but once I get a handle on how they play & go through the growing pains, I have got them up to 40% to 45% shooting.

Postby J@3 on Fri Jun 17, 2011 9:55 pm

I think I was just forcing him to play how I wanted him to play, because I had Ibaka slashing/shooting jumpers and I didn't want my other big to be doing that. Lesson learned, the Clippers are still awful but he should be really good for them going forward.

----------------------------------------------

HUGE changes at Phoenix 8-)

So I missed the play-offs. Finished 15-14 along with Portland and the Spurs (somehow despite their off-season recruiting) but they must have had tie breakers on me or something because they made the play-offs and I didn't. Ibaka and Theo were injured for the last 4 games (Theo was still playing) but we still won 2 of them, needless to say Theo didn't get his MVP award. The Knicks won the championship on the back of their PG Ben Matthews, it's the second championship in a row for Edgar Vincent but on two different teams. Pretty impressive.

So the off-season starts, I decline all of the shit players and accept the good ones options. Serge Ibaka says he wants to test free agency. He's not improving, rated 82 and staying there plus he's making 7 million already. I didn't really want to give him 10+ million per season (especially considering Vaughn rated 66 in my system averaged 14/8 with Serge injured) so I let him go. I looked at the roster and it was basically this...

Theo - 95
Blake - 95
Jordan - 95
Bradley - 87
Hardaway - 72
Holloway - 70
Vaughn - 66
Horsley - 65
Garibaldi - 65

I figured I could either rebuild or try to fill in some gaps and try again next season. Given that the last season with Theo uninjured for virtually the entire year we barely scraped above .500 I figured what the hell, it's a strong draft I'll just rebuild....

Phoenix trades:
Avery Bradley (87)
Jamie Horsley (65)

Milwaukee trades:
#2 pick in the 2016 draft
Adrian Hunter (75, 25 years old A for potential)

Avery Bradley was expiring and his info said he was going to test free agency, so I started looking for trades for him. Basically in the work-outs I became obsessed with this point guard. Strangely I'd normally be all over the 6'7 PG who is projected to go #1, but it was the smaller one that really worked for me. He dominated the 5 on 5 game I had. Milwaukee don't have a point guard but they are a veteran team full of guys rated 80+, I figure it makes sense for them to take Bradley while they make a run at a championship next season instead of having a rookie running the point. Hopefully whoever has #1 (can't remember honestly) doesn't take him, but if they do I'll just take the 6'7 PG and make do.

Phoenix trades:
#16 pick in the 2016 draft
2017 First round draft pick
Quincy Holloway (70)

Philadelphia trades:
#10 pick in the 2016 draft
#40 pick in the 2016 draft
2017 First round draft pick

I want Gabe Kersey, a power forward who is projected to go #10. I didn't think I'd get him at #16 so I decided to move up. Trading my 1st for next season hurts but I think the 6ers are going to suck so it should be fine. Holloway was dead weight basically, plus I got another 2nd for my 7 foot tall SF who is floating around there somewhere.

And the big one...

Phoenix trades;
Blake Griffin (95)

Cleveland trades:
#4 pick in the 2016 draft
#7 pick in the 2016 draft
2017 1st round draft pick
Raymond Felton (83, 14 million expiring)

Blake doesn't fit in with a rebuild. He's on a huge contract and is in his late 20's now. He was great for me but I'd rather take Cleveland's two picks in this stacked draft and fill the team up with rookies. Felton will be good off the bench and when he expires I can probably find some decent FA's lying around. And I get another pick in 2017, so I have two first round picks from lottery teams in the '17 draft.

So this is my team now...

Theo Johnson - 95
Rasheed Jordan - 90
Raymond Felton - 83
Adrian Hunter - 75
Richie Hardaway - 72
Antonio Vaughn - 66
Argento Garibaldi - 65
#2 pick
#4 pick
#7 pick
#10 pick
#40 pick
#48 pick
2017 1st round pick (Cleveland)
2017 1st round pick (Philadelphia)

Should be an interesting draft.

In the end your team was talented but not getting you to next level. You were run of the mill. Let's hope you can get immediate impact players.

Sucks you missed out on tiebreak with 15-14 record, that's what happened in my 2nd year with Wolves (N)

Yeah I was devastated (relative to how devastated you can be by a video game lol) because I figured even though it was a shit season I could still win it all, since two of my play-off series are best of 1 game. I think Bradley was a massive underachiever, rated nearly 90, high 90's for speed/dribbling/quickness/3 point shooting but really inconsistent.

So I started a Live 2003 franchise with what could be the future '11-'12 Bobcats.

Line-up (I traded S-Jax and Tyrus Thomas to Philly for Andre Iguodala):

Bismack Biyombo (6'9) (created, hoping the Cats will pick him @ #9)
Boris Diaw (6'8)
Andre Iguodala (6'6)
Gerald Henderson (6'4)
DJ Augustin (6'0, if that)
--
Chris Singleton (6'9) (created, hoping he drops to #19)
Shaun Livingston (6'7)
DJ White (6'9)
Kwame Brown (6'11)
Matt Carroll's contract (6'6)
Desagana Diop's contract (7'0)
Eduardo Najera' contract (6'8)

Our lineup is really, really undersized. I almost considered staring Kwame over my lottery pick Biyombo because of his size. But when I played a couple games, it wasn't even close. Biyombo was dunking, rebounding, and blocking amazingly well. Iggy gave my team a huge boost. I played just two games: a 111-99 win over Cleveland and a 90-77 loss to the Clips. Blake was dunking all over Boris Diaw. He had something like 25 in the first half, when I sized up and played Kwame, Biyombo, Singleton, Iggy, and Livingston at the same time. I think I actually played better with them.

So I simmed the rest of the season, pausing for one trade in the middle (again with Philadelphia): Carroll and Najera to the 76ers for Jason Kapono and some scrub signed to a one-year, minimum contract who I just went ahead and released. Kapono had a 96 rating for outside shooting, so I went ahead and confirmed.

We barely made the playoffs, with a 39-43 record- 8th seed. Lucky for us, Orlando tanked the last bit of the season, finished 37-45 and came 9th. Of course, we got beat by Miami, but we won one game. I got the 16th pick in next year's draft.

Overall, my team was pretty good individually. Iggy got his first All-Star appearance with 19 points and 7 rebounds per game, shooting 54% from the field. (S-Jax got his first one in PHI too, lol) DJ Augustin averaged 16/6, Biyombo was a pleasant surprise: He only had 6 points per game, but he had nine rebounds and two blocks as well in 36 minutes. Diaw kind of flopped, 11 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists in 32 minutes, but he'll likely be walking in free agency, clearing up about $9M in cap space.

For whatever reason, Matt Carroll actually started in Philadelphia (Turner was apparently traded away) and he averaged 14ppg, finished the season shooting 55% from outside.

Chris Singleton and Bismack Biyombo both made the All-Rookie Team, but there wasn't much competition. Irving only played 20 games all season with Minny after like three injuries, Kanter was behind Al Jefferson and Paul Millsap in Utah's rotation, Derrick Williams was stuck behind Antawn Jamison in Cleveland, and Leonard was injured a lot too.

I'm going after Chris Paul in free agency this year. I was able to rid myself of Carroll's and Najera's big contracts, but I'm still stuck with Kapono's and Diop's albatrosses for one more year. With Diaw coming off the books, is should be able to sign him- the question is, will he sign with me?

I hope so. If not, I'll have trade for him.

Draft recap:

6'7 point guard Gordon Palmer went #1 overall to Washington. The other top five picks (aside from the Suns) were 6'11 power forward Sean Simon to Miami and 6'11 center Sasa Bilic who was traded to the Clippers for some reason, bizarre given they already have Gibbs there.

Phoenix selections:
#2 - Austin Boyd - PG - 6'1, 202lbs (20 years old) (83)
#4 - Marvin Davis - C/PF - 6'11, 252lbs (20 years old) (77)
#7 - Doyle Daniel - C - 6'11, 268lbs (19 years old) (70)
#10 - Vlado Toroman - SG/SF - 6'9, 204lbs (19 years old) (63)
#40 - Conrad Brooks - SF - 7'0, 219lbs (21 years old) (56)
#44 - Antonio Perry - PG - 6'5, 208lbs (21 years old) (54)

The 76ers picked Gabe Kersey with the #14th pick so I traded for it...

Phoenix receive:
Gabe Kersey

76ers receive:
Argento Garibaldi (PHX)
Josh McRoberts (CLE)

Cavaliers receive:
Quincy Holloway (76ers)

Garibaldi is a 3 1/2 star player, will develop into a mid 70's C IMO but having picked Daniel I didn't see the point in keeping him.

I was reluctant to pick Daniel at #7 but I couldn't really justify turning down a 70 rated C who is only 19 years old. I can either use him as Davis' primary back-up or even start him and Davis, since Davis can play both frontcourt positions and has a decent mid-range J.

Key FA signings:
Carmelo Anthony to Boston
Kevin Durant to Philadelphia
Serge Ibaka to Detroit
Rex Childress to Dallas (C rated in the high 80's)
Freddie Fordham to Memphis (18ppg career guy)
Carlos Boozer to Philadelphia
Irvin Long to Charlotte (83 rated SF, averaged 16ppg for his career)
Luke Babbitt to Philadelphia
Josh Chapman to Oklahoma City (former Boston SG, averaged 17 for his career)
Joakim Noah to the Bucks
Radoslav Sebic to Chicago (they now have two of the top 5 PG's in the game =\)
Tony Parker to Chicago (... yeah I don't know)

Played one pre-season game against Charlotte. They are ranked #1 in every category, we are ranked in the 20's for everything. The team actually felt great, I think not having to spread the ball around so much is going to be a good thing. We were beating them by 23 but Jennings went nuts from three in the fourth so we only won by 8, still a good start. Here's how the new guys did...

Austin Boyd: 22 points, 4 rebounds, 9 assists
Marvin Davis: 21 points, 7 rebounds, 2 blocks
Vlado Toroman: 12 points, 2 rebounds in 11 minutes
Doyle Daniel: 6 points, 5 rebounds, 2 blocks in 11 minutes
Conrad Brooks: 4 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist in 11 minutes
Gabe Kersey: 3 points, 2 rebounds in 11 minutes

Davis is awesome. He reminds me a lot of Al Horford, his mid-range game is really strong. I hit a few within like a foot or two of the three point line with him. Boyd killed them, I really enjoy using him. Toroman is possibly the most fun NBA 2K player I've ever had, he's 6'9 but moves like a SG and has a really nice mid-range game. Also I'm tempted to start Doyle Daniel since he was so productive off the bench, but I've got Antonio Vaughn (who now has 96 for potential) starting so I think I should leave the line-up as is (Boyd - Theo - Rasheed - Vaughn - Davis).

Did you bump up Vaughn's potential? For shame :shake:

Either way, looks like you got a few good players from Draft. Can't believe Melo to Boston & Durant to Philly. First one is actually believable but second, not so much. What's back story on OKC?

I used reward points two seasons in a row to boost his potential, somehow it automatically went from 83 or 84 to 86 throughout the season.. which is kinda cool, and I thought impossible lol.

I'll go check their team out later on, I know they also let go a 94 rated PF in this off-season too. Last I saw in the pre-season they had Westbrook averaging like 35

Nah I've been so tempted to do an edit lol because it costs like 70 points but my conscience won't allow it, wouldn't feel real. If he ends up rated near the 90's I'll know it's because of my own development.

It's the game. That's why people at OS think it's not practical to waste reward points to increase Potential rating and also based from my own experience an 80+ Potential rating is enough for a player to develop and reach 90+ Overall rating in 3-5 years if the rookie has an Overall rating in the lower 70's. Even a Potential of 65-79 is sufficient for the development of a good starter in your rotation.
Other factors also come into play that speed up the development of your players. Keeping his Player Morale really high, fulfilling the player ambitions, and giving him good minutes helps in seeing a fast development as opposed to just stashing a rookie in the D-League.
The one clear advantage of having a player with a 90+ Potential rating is when the player gets old. He will regress slower than a player with 80+ Potential rating.
HE'S USING HYPNOSIS!

The issue with Vaughn is that when I drafted him he wasn't really meant to be that good. He was just some 6'11 second round power forward who had like 70 for potential. I've pretty much turned him into Frankenstein but a lot of his attributes are still pretty poor, so I figured giving him 90+ for potential might kinda accelerate the process and get him good fast. It seems to have worked, he went from 61-64 in his first two seasons and from 64-66 over the last season, he's at 71 now so he had roughly a 5-6 point increase over last year.

I wish there were better ways of developing athleticism. Giving him potential boosts for his reward points has kinda slowed that progress down, I know what sort of player I want him to be but I don't know if he'll ever get there.

16th game on My Player. WIth MIami heat, we loss at our last game, but this is DIFFERENT! So we actually won by 9 or 12 points! My player was on fire! 51 points,10rebounds,8 assists. 63%FT, 59%FG. I'm having the best game of my life.xD No,really, that was so unexpected. I toughen up the D. First half was so close, 3rd quarter, we're tie @ 75, then @4th, I boomed, 41,43,45,47,49,51!!!! Dwade can't defend me.xD Even Bosh. Except LBJ who got me blocked twice in a row at first quarter. Now, I'm really hyped up.
