I'm up for the video. And it's sorta routine for LeBron to be an All-Star & MVP every year, especially in 2k11.

Rookies Vs Sophomores

Postby Cruzerr on Fri Jun 10, 2011 5:06 am

Tyreke Shines as Sophomores take the win

Image

As always, the greatest weekend in the NBA starts, with the last years rookies facing of the best of this years. Yes, I am talking about the Rookies vs Sophomores game, and like last year, Tyreke Evans took the MVP at home, only he did not have to share it with anybody.

Rookies had some serious talent on the floor, including the likes of Blake Griffin and the East All-Star John Wall. With many more wanting to prove themselves, it was the best chance to do, as some serious skill was shown by players like Paul George and Ed Davis. Rookies have always known to be the hot-heads in this game, meaning to be more of a dunking team. As the Rookies have lost more games than the Sophomores, it is always a exciting battle, which the Rookies want to prevail in.

Sophomores on the other hand were tough like always, with Tyreke Evans and Brandon Jennings leading the way, along with last years double-double maniac DeJuan Blair. Sophomores have always the upper hand in this game, as they have experienced the pressure what the rookies had on themselves. The starting small forward of the sophomores, Terrence Williams from the Cleveland Cavaliers said that he believes the rookies have it easier. "If we lose, it is an embarrassment. If they lose, its just their inexperience."

Still, the game started very interesting, as rookies took full advantage. Players like Paul George and John Wall started alley-ooping and made the game really fun to watch. But it did not take while, when the Sophomores caught up to regain the momentum. With both teams being neck-and-neck it was more of a dunking game for the Rookies, and more shooting was shown from the Sophomores.

But it was the turnovers that started to pile up and really destroy the rookies. T-Will and Matthews had great dunking moments, along with Jonny Flynn. Tyreke was still shooting it really great and the team was hard to stop. Ed Davis came in and chipped some points up, but the game was mostly controlled by Jennings and Evans. Rookies, mainly Blake Griffin, took the game back, but those turnovers again made it too hard for them.

At the end, It came down to a great game, but the Sophomores were better, winning it 105-101. Tyreke Evans, now the first player to ever be back-to-back MVP, lead the team, with Brandon Jennings behind him, getting a double-double. Tyreke himself said that he will love this experience more than being in the All-Star game this weekend. "I will never forget this, back-to-back MVP is no joke. I thank all these players around me, for the great game." With the rookies side, It was safe to say that Blake Griffin lead the way for the youngsters, getting a double-double. " I am happy for Tyreke, he is a great player. I will have my chance at the title next year, against other rookies."

As this game is just the start of the All-Star Weekend, be sure to tune in on Saturday, for the most intense contests!

So What do you think about the Recap style? And the Video? I admit, It is not my best work, will definitely try to do a better work on the next one. More videos will come (All-Star game, Dunk Contest, my playoff games)

Also, if anybody has got some great music suggestions, send me a PM.

The All Star lineups are really a bit surprising

Maybe LeBron was injured ? The same happened to D-Rose in my association. He was injured about 6 weeks, and he didnt show up in any award list / All Star Game nor in any All NBA team.

Nice Game by Griffin, but the Rookies should have take this one. A Rookie Sophomore Challenge isnt that electrifying at all, but this recap and video looks good.

Re-Dirk-ulous one keeps the title in Texas
Image

With Haiers Shooting Stars always kick off the Saturday competitions, it was surely a great competition, as TEAM TEXAS held the title for another year.

As the first round kicked off, TEAM LOS ANGELES started off the competition. With the veteran Rick Fox and current star Pau Gasol being in the team with WNBA star Tina Thompson, they kicked off the competition in a quick hurry. But with struggling in the third shot, from the center of the three-point land, they slightly crumbled their, but made back their time, as they finished 1 minut and 1 second. TEAM ATLANTA had a nice chance of taking the lead, as they really hit their shots great. Coco Miller was the best shooter, but with nobody hitting the half-court shot, they finished with a poor 1 minut and 39 second time. With TEAM TEXAS needing a pretty decent time, they had good shooters on their team, as they did not miss any shots and took the lead with 58.9 seconds. It was left for TEAM CHICAGO to make somekind of difference. But they could not do it, with Steve Kerr missing his three-point shot, which cost them time, as they finished 1 minut 11 seconds.

With two teams advancing, it was TEAM LOS ANGELES turn to take the stage. With Pau Gasol hitting his shots, and Rick Fox being on fire, Tina Thompson missed the short-range shot, which cost them some time. However, when getting to the half-court, it was Fox, who shined by hitting the shot with his first try, getting them a good time, 59.1 seconds. As it was up to TEAM TEXAS to take the win again, they did not give up. With Kenny Smith, Dirk Nowitzki and Roneeka Hodges wanting to win themselves another title, Smith missed a shot, what seemed to kill them. But when Roneeka hit the fifth shot from the three-point line, Dirk rushed to the half-court and hit a fadeaway shot, getting the win in a great time 57.2.

With the title being once again in Texas, teams can have a chance at it next year.

Results:

Round 1Round 2
TEAM LOS ANGELES1 Min 1 SecTEAM LOS ANGELES59.1 Sec
TEAM TEXAS58.9 SecTEAM TEXAS57.2 Sec
TEAM ATLANTA1 Min 39 Sec
TEAM CHICAGO1 Min 11 Sec

Curry struggles shooting as Westbrook takes the victory
Image

As this competition shows the point guards speed, passings skill, and finishing, Russell Westbrook showed us all that he has all of that.

First off was the Celtics main man, Rajon Rondo. Rondo quickly moved through the course, only struggling at the passing in the end, but still finished with a solid time, 33 Seconds. Next up was the underdog of this competition, Devin Harris. He started off great, hitting everything he could, but slipped on the course, causing him to twist is ankle. Being in a lot of pain, he still finished it with a poor time of 59 Seconds. After that, came the champion himself, Chris Paul. The Hornets point guard made quick work, and had a great chance to take the lead out of Rondos hands, but with missing in the last layup, he failed to take the lead, finishing with a time of 37 Seconds. As Russell Westbrook came up next, he was really ready and was working on full cylinders. He made the bounce pass nicely, went over the cones fast, and hit the layup quickly, making the time 30 Seconds. The final contestant was Stephen Curry. The Golden State prodigy looked on fire, hitting all the passes and shots. He slightly slipped near the cones, but quickly went for the layup, to get a small advantage over Rajon Rondo, finishing 1 Minute and 32 Seconds.

As Curry had a worse time than Westbrook, he had to go back on the court. Like last time, he was on fire, everybody was rooting for him. But when he got to the free-throw line, he missed everything, and totally crumbled. Even if he hit the shot, his time was poor, as he finished 47 Seconds. As Westbrook knew that he had to finish greatly, he still tried hard. He made the shot in his first time, with 20 seconds remaining, everybody started to clap, as the sure winner was shown. Westbrook however finished with a great time, as he got his first title, in 34 Seconds.

Results:

Round 1Round 2
Rajon Rondo33 SecondsStephen Curry47 Seconds
Chris Paul37 SecondsRussell Westbrook34 Seconds
Devin Harris59 Seconds
Stephen Curry32 Seconds

Anthony Parker dominates the final round
Image

With the three point shootout being one of the highlights of the Saturday contests, the crowd was pumped up to see who is the sharpshooter in the league. But with this year being a bit different, the shooters were automatically drawn, only with the exception of Paul Pierce being last.

Shooting List:

Ryan Anderson
Mike Miller
Anthony Parker
Danilo Gallinari
Omri Casspi
Paul Pierce

First Round
Image

With that, Ryan Anderson took the stage first. He started off really bad, hitting only two balls, which one of them was money, in the first two racks. He kind of got his confidence back in the third, but was way off on the forth. With totally crumbling in the fifth, he finished with a bad score of 9. He did not seem happy, as many more shooters were up to kill his score.

Image

Next up, it was Mike Miller taking the stage. With not a hard score to beat, he still crumbled in the first and the second, getting only 2 points total. With totally missing the third and hitting only two from the forth, it was going to be a weak preformance. He missed the money ball in the last, which got him a even worse score at 7.

Image

After that, came Anthony Parker. With the bad shooting that we already saw, everybody was hoping that he could pull it off. And so he did, as he combined 7 points in the first two racks. With hitting four in the the third, but being really off in the forth, he hit five balls in the fifth, getting him a grand total of 18. The fans were happier to see some decent scoring.

Image

Next up was the Italian stroker Danilo Gallinari. He seemed to be on a roll, as he got nine points in the first two racks. By crumbling a bit in the third, he still got the money ball and got some points in the forth as well. As he calmly finished the last rack, he took the lead with a pretty good 16 points, kicking out Mike Miller from the competition, but staying down to Parker.

Image

Another international players was coming next, as it was time for Omri Casspi to take his shots. Casspi showed high hopes in the first, getting four points from there, and getting four in the second as well. He also got four in the third, but managed to get three in the forth. But, he missed all of his shots in the last, giving him a score of 16, tying with Gallinari and kicking out Ryan Anderson.

Image

But with the champ going to the line, everybody was expecting great things. Paul Pierce was ready to show all the doubters that he is the champion. He started off decent, getting three from the first rack. But missed everything in the second, that finally got to him. He hit some of his shots in the third and forth, but when he got to the fifth, everybody knew that a new champion will be crowned, as he managed to get 13 in the end.

Second Round
Image

As two were tied, Omri Casspi took the stage first, losing a head-or-tails game to Gallinari. But his great shooting was totally gone, as he managed to combine 4 points in the first three racks. With needing to hit better in the forth, he did not, and only got one from there. He did hit the last two shots of the contest, getting him to a total of 8 points, and hoping that Parker and Danilo will shoot even worse.

Image

Now, it was a clutch moment for Danilo Gallinari. He seemed confident, as he started off hitting 7 in his first two racks. With everybody hoping that he could take the win, he did not do a lot in the next two racks , as he only scored two in there. With being totally desperate to hit the last rack, he only hit one in the end, finishing with 10 points, and hoping that Parker would choke.

Image

It was all up to Anthony Parker to take it all or choke it all. The crowd was on the edge of their seat, even though it was a low scoring contest. Then he started to shoot. He got three in the first, and got three in the second. Crowd was on fire, as he got three in the third as well. Parker went to the forth and looked at the basket, he only needed two more shots. And he did hit them. The crowd went wild, as the 35-year old veteran was in his forth rack and was already crowned the new champion. Anthony finished his racks, and got 18 points in the end, and a new trophy to hang on the wall.

With Anthony Parker having his last season, he is quite happy that he can add something in his collection.
"I am really thankful that I got the chance. I have been shooting great this season and hope to continue this to the playoffs and get my ring in there!"

Next up, the most waited contest this weekend - Sprite Slam Dunk Contest!

With everybody waiting for this contest, it had finally come, and the final round was a blast.

Here is the summary of the dunks.
All the videos are better in 720p

DeMar DeRozan-Score 42

Q-Rich opened up the night pretty well, as the crowd certainly enjoyed his dunk. Wade followed him with a bit weaker but still, a pretty good dunk. But the fans went wild, when J.R crushed his competition so far. The judges were pretty impressed, but liked to see a bit more. DeMar was right behind him with a smooth cartwheel, that the fans loves. As Q-Rich took his second dunk, people enjoyed it, and described it better than his first one. But with Wade pretty much doing the same dunk as he did in the last round, it was a bit of a bummer. J.R showed another impressive dunk, which guaranteed him to the final round. With DeRozan hitting a pretty solid dunk, the judges gave him 42, which meant he took Q-Riches place in the final round.

Final Round-Dunk 1

DeMar DeRozan-Score 50

phpBB [video]

J.R Smith-Score 50
Over the Ball Rack Switch-Hands One Hand Slam

Image

phpBB [video]

DeMar had a weaker score, so he had to start it off. Quickly he made a vicious dunk and got a 50, as all of the fans and judges got the Dee Brown feeling re-amped. With J.R showing that he aint worse, he made a great dunk, but it was not a 50 dunk. DeRozan came back, and did a nice switch-hand dunk, but the judges wanted to see more, so they gave him a 47. With J.R putting the Ball-Rack in front of the basket, everybody knew what was coming. But when he went for it, it was amazing. The place he took off, the hand-switch, it was great. The judges and fans went wild and everybody was shouting one number. 50. DeRozan knew that he was great, but what J.R did, was even better. That is the reason, why J.R Smith is the 2011 Sprite Slam Dunk Contest champion, and nobody else.

George7, Thanks. I felt that he got robbed, but I did not make up the scores. Took the 2k scores and divided them by 2, as 2k max is 100.
