After winning 4 of their last 5 games, Hornets was looking to reach 0.500 mark. but in second game of the week they lost to Thunder. Overall this week was very good and Hornets won 3 games and lost only once.
In first game of new week Hornets played against San Antonio Spurs, in last meeting between these two teams Hornets lost in late game thriller. This time Hornets wanted to win and send veteran Spurs to home with another loss.
Game started with six missed baskets, both teams missed their first 3 shots, and only after four minutes of play Chris Paul scored first basket in the game, after Paul's lay-up Hornets scored 11 straight points to take 13-0 lead, but veteran team Spurs stopped Hornets offense and scored ten points in next two minutes. Quarter ended with 13 point lead for Hornets. In next quarter Spurs turned things around and made 9 of their 12 shots, but Hornets answered with 34 points and game was over in late second quarter when Hornets took twenty point lead. 64-44.
Third ''silent'' quarter, Hornets scored eight unanswered points, but struggled to make shot in next 7 minutes, with a bunch of turnovers third quarter ended with only 18 points scored for Hornets and 14-Spurs. Spurs took control in fourth quarter, but it was too late to win young and fast Hornets.
Hornets tied season series with win and moved to tenth place in Western Conference.
First half in game against Thunder was a half to forget, Hornets blew early six points lead went to locker room with almost twenty point deficit.
Things turned around in middle of third quarter where Hornets scored 12 points and Thunder lead was only seven points, but Thunder coach Scott Brooks subbed Westbrook and Durant back and run was over, while Durant made every shot in third quarter Hornets leader Chris Paul struggled to make a basket, he scored only two points in third while Durant 14 and Westbrook 6.
Hornets outscored Thunder 35 to 23 points and Chris Paul made last second shot to make it six point game.
In game against Charlotte Bobcats, Stephen Jackson scored 16 points in first quarter, and Bobcats lead was two points at the end of first. Hornets again struggled in second quarter and managed to score only 19 points.
Third quarter was close and both teams scored 23 points.
Hornets took game control in fourth quarter outscoring Bobcats by twenty points.
Rested Hornets played last game of the week against ''new look'' New York Knicks with Carmelo Anthony, Amar'e Stoudemire and Chauncey Billups. Hornets stopped New York's big three, Anthony scored only 21, his averages 29 this season and Billups to season worst 4 points.
