Game 2 of the Grand Final yesterday was fucking awesome.

Can't say I recall any involving Smyth, though I only got Foxtel in 2005. Did he do that sort of thing often?

Just to refresh the memory. Intensity, physicality, hate... all were there back then.

Til this day I still think Stern's punishments were a bit harsh on the Pacer players and should've been more harsh on Ben Wallace. If that never happened they would've been title contenders that year. The Pacers were a better team and came back with a vengeance after losing to the Pistons in the playoffs the previous year and wanted to make a statement to the Pistons in that game. Ben Wallace and the Piston fans knew that but couldn't take it. All Ron Artest did was do what he always does... foul hard.

Oh. I was under the impression that he rushed into the stands or something, starting a massive riot, whereas Wallace didn't. Must have been thinking of something else.

I've always thought Wallace should've received a couple more games suspension for inciting and then escalating the situation but beyond that it was Artest and Jackson that took things too far by charging into the stands. Jermaine O'Neal's suspension was perhaps a little too harsh, I think it was appropriate to suspend him for what he did but given that the fan came onto the court to physically confront him, there's a little leeway there.

I remember that. Can't imagine anyone getting away with that these days, or even a few years after that. I recall Shaq getting T'd up for "taunting" when he simply shot Luc Longley a bit of a smug look after dunking on him in the 1996 Eastern Conference Finals, which rivals some of the baffling calls we've seen this season.
