I was thinking of skipping weeklys, only posting the standings and (if there has been) trades. I would post the big recap at the end of the month, how does that sound?

A bit surprising not to see LeBron James or Wade as a player of the month , what happened to them? :D

Some teams in the top spots i didnt expect, but still many games left.

I like the Bucks trades, i hope Boguts injury isnt that serious so maybe they can catch up a bit.

Grats for winning Rookie of the month and Player of the month, we will see if Griffin can repeat that. I think you can overtake the Pacers and then battle with the Heat for the first seed.

Personally i think its enough to make monthly reports, but its your choice. Of course if a big trade happen or something else you can tell in between.

osaki, I dont know. Both LeBron and Wade are in the MVP chase.

The top 3 in the East is pretty hard to crack, but West is a complete mess. They rise and fall every week.

Considering that Bogut is out, Goodens trade came in the write time.

Well, Heat is going to be hard, Im hoping the rematch against the Pacers I can dominate them.

Im still thinking about the reports.

Bobcats @ Cavs

Postby Cruzerr on Fri May 13, 2011 10:19 pm

Another close contest ends up as a lost for Cleveland, series tied.

Image

First Quarter

As it seemed like Cleveland would take this one again, Bobcats did not want to give up. Cavaliers started with a 11-3 run, but made 4 turnovers and Charlotte tied up the game. After that, Cleveland also took a narrow lead, but Jackson came back and tied the game at 17.Tyrus Thomas hit a jumper in Varejaos face to take the lead, but it was no use, as Williams and Griffin started to dominated, finishing the first quarter with 19-25, with a 8-2 run.

Bobcats scoring leader : S.Jackson 8 PTS 2 REB 1 AST
Cavaliers scoring leader : B.Griffin 7 PTS 4 REB

Second Quarter

Bobcats were motivated coming off the first. They took the lead early and continued to dominated, taking the lead to 30, however, Cleveland came back by the help of Williams and they tied it up. Both teams were neck and neck and the lead changed a lot of times. Cleveland would have taken the lead pretty big, if Diop would not have 4 blocks on both Williams and Griffin. Dorell dominated the Cavaliers defense, as he had 0 in the first but 12 in the second. The lead was always a 2-4 point lead, but Jackson late three made it a 4 point lead at the end, as they went to half time 54-49.

Bobcats scoring leader : Dorell Wright 12 PTS 2 AST
Cavaliers scoring leader : A.Parker 13 PTS 2 AST

Third Quarter

Cleveland was struggling, as Bobcats were dominating. Despite having a huge amount of turnovers, Cavaliers kept the game really close, only having a 2 point defisite. Until 5 minutes left in the quarter, Bobcats started to dominated, making the game double digit.Griffin stepped up, getting some rebounds, but the amount of turnovers were too big to take the lead again, finishing the quarter 80-71

Bobcats scoring leader : S.Jackson 16 PTS 3 REB 5 AST 4 STL
Cavaliers scoring leader : B.Griffin 17 PTS 10 REB 3 BLK

Forth Quarter

Cleveland came out of the gates and with a 15-6 run and 5 minutes to play, they tied the game up. Blake Griffins nasty dunk gave them the lead, but the huge scoring of Stephen Jackson was too big for them. Livingston made 2 free throws and the game went more intense. With 2.7 seconds to go, Anthony Parker made stole the ball and took a timeout, only to make a three at the buzzer, but it was not enough to win, as Bobcats tied the season series and won 105-104.

Press Conference :

"Parker, how did the final buzzer affect you, knowing that even if you hit it you will still lose?"
" Does it matter? When your on the court, you have to do all that you can do, to get the W. Even if it seems hopeless, you have to work to the final minutes."

"Stephen, last time you lost to them and you were shooting badly. Things did not change about your shooting but you still came away with the win. What was the main reason?"
"Well we are not a one-man team. Getting solid play from Hendo and Dorell was the thing that we were lacking last time at home. We are really happy to get this victory and will continue battling for the eight seed."

Conclusion :

You cant say that Cleveland was bad, but the huge play of Captain Jack and Henderson was too much to control. With Parker having 24 and Williams getting 22, while Griffin got a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds, it was not a bad loss. This loss for the Cavaliers is not changing their spot in the playoffs badly, but the win for Charlotte does help them get closer to the lower seeds in the East.

Cleveland will have their game against the top team in the West, Los Angeles Lakers, while Bobcats try to defeat Memphis.

I'm with Osaki, the Bobcats can definitely outperform their record on a given night and rise to the level of their opponent.

As for the recaps, I'm down with monthly, since I think you can still get a pretty good snapshot of the league that way. Regardless, you should choose whatever method you enjoy the most. The readers will follow :)

Since the last time I checked in, you changed your recapping style. I like this one, quarter-by-quarter description. (Y) Tough loss the the lolcats though, looks like turnovers were a key factor in the loss. You definitely ripped off the Clippers in the trade for Blake Griffin.

press conference and conclusion are good thought (Y)

osaki, Jack can go on and off, which makes him really dangerous.

Grandmama Johnson, Yeah, I am thinking about going with monthlys, if something big comes up, will report it.

Axel., Sometimes I cant control my turnover, I just dont get it :D

john26, Griffin is a great player to play with.

KidJustin, Naah, quarter by quarter is fine by me, I like to write in a language that is not my main or so.

Everybody, I just wanted to thank you all that have even followed this. This aint no quitting message, as I aint bored :D When I just made it, I thought it would be really hard to get followers. Thanks to all of you ! :)

Draft Interview

Postby Cruzerr on Sun May 15, 2011 2:02 am

We are at it again, it is time for the Draft Combine !

Image

Last time, we had an interview with one of the uprising point guards, who was not really a true point. But when I saw Kris Adams out of Texas shooting the three from the corner, whether he had two guys in his face or he was just stroking, he was sharp every time. The guy is a true point, with a huge passing skill, he might be one of the higher players to get drafter for the point guard position. He does not have a lot of competition, but he is surely competition to the other players, whether they are shooting guards or centers. The man is exciting to watch, so we had an interview with him :

How did you get into basketball ? Did you play other sports ?

I didn’t really get into the game until I was 10. After one touch of the ball I’d knew I’d found my calling. I played a little football at center, but it’s not the biggest position in the game. Basketball gave me a chance to really up my skills.

Who motivates you the most ? Friends, family, an NBA player or a coach ?

My old coach Doug Brown motivated me to get better eating habits. I was a little chubby coming in, & he pushed me to lose weight and play hard. I always loved his coaching technique. He was happy with you when you we’re doing well, but if you made a bad pass or took a bad shot, you got the horns.

Who are your 3 most favorite players in NBA ?

Dirk Nowitzki, because of his amazing shooting touch. Steve Nash for his passing skills, and Kevin Durant for his offense.

What team is your favorite ?

The Dallas Mavericks, because I grew up in the Big D. I still go to some of their games to this day. They’ll always be my favorite.

What player do you want to play with sometime in NBA ?

I’d like to play with Dirk someday. It would be an honor, even if it was just for an All- Star game or Olympics.

What kind of draft pick are you hoping for ?

I’d like to have a late lottery or early post lottery pick. I think my passing skills & 3pt shot can really help any team.

You played with Texas. Why did you go to Texas?

I felt Texas was the right place to go because it was close to home & It was a place where I could have significance. I didn’t want to go to a school with a Kyrie or Jimmer. I wanted to go to a place where everyone could improve their game together.

How are your teammates ?

My teammates are the best. We all work together well on and off the court. If one guy’s slacking were all helping improve him.

What is your biggest strength ?

I think my biggest strength is my corner three. Some classmates of mine have called it a “lethal weapon”. It’s my favorite place to shoot from, & I think tat’s where I’ll score the most in the NBA. I can also be a pass first type guy. If someone’s got a better shot than me I’ll give the ball to them.

Cavs @ Lakers

Postby Cruzerr on Sun May 15, 2011 8:08 pm

Cleveland defeats the toughest team in the West

Image

First Quarter

Cleveland came out with a mentality and a plan to stop Kobe and Gasol of putting points up. As Kobe was 1-6 from the field, and Gasol got blocked twice, getting no points up, as he was 0-4 from the field, things did not look good.Fisher was the only guy trying to do something, but he is not a one man army. Cavaliers team was smoking, as everybody stepped up their game. Only bad thing was, that Williams sprained his ankle but he could play afterwords. DeRozan made his return, as he got the last minute of play, hitting a three on Fishers face and a buzzer. At the end, it was a 23 point lead, 36-13.

Clevelands scoring leader : B.Griffin 8 PTS 3 REB 3 AST 2 STL 2 BLK
Lakers scoring leader : D.Fisher 8 PTS 1 REB 1 STL

Second Quarter

As the Lakers came off a terrible first quarter, they were on fire the next. Kobe and Fisher started to step up and while Bynum and Gasol started to block the shots, they got the game from 23 to 13. But when there was 5 minutes left to play, Griffins and Parkers return was needed and Lakers went cold again. Odom did make a free throw, to make the game 13, but that was all that they could do, heading into the second half. It ended 58-45.

Clevelands scoring leader : B.Griffin 14 PTS 6 REB 3 AST 3 STL 2 BLK
Lakers scoring leader : D.Fisher 10 PTS 2 REB 1 AST 2 STL

Third Quarter

Lakers were coming up big and in some point, Gasol wanted to step in scoring and so he did. At the middle of the quarter, Los Angeles got the game to six points and it started to intense up. While Kobe started to control Parker, Blake still pulled the right strings of Pau and got his points. In two minutes left, Lakers crumbled and Cavaliers started to build, as it ended in 82-71.

Clevelands scoring leader : B.Griffin 24 PTS 8 REB 4 AST 3 STL 4 BLK
Lakers scoring leader : K.Bryant 15 PTS 1 REB 4 AST 4 STL

Forth Quarter

Kobe came in, hit a quick 3 and got the game to single-digits, but after that, it was first quarter all over again. Hell broke loose and neither Kobe or Gasol got the ball in. Demar stepped up pretty big, as he started with eigth points, but finished with 25 points. If it seemed as a pretty close game on the paper, but on the floor, it was a different game as it finished 114-96.

Press Conference :

"Demar, how does it feel to come back and dominated Kobe ? And what happened with Terrence Williams ?"
"Well, no offense Kobe, but it felt great. Coming back onto the court and doing my thing, it always feels good. About Terrence, he just sprained his ankle, no biggie."

"Kobe, how did you feel that you were dominated and really could not come up big ?"
"Did I finish with 22 points ? Yes I did. Basketball is a team game, I did good, Fisher did good, Bynum was blocking everybody. You cant blame one link and if you can, it was not me."

Conclusion :

As this win is great for Cleveland, as they start off their 6-game road trip and will face the Jazz next, it also helped them to get the number two seed. As for Lakers, it was not their night and better days will come. If it really impacted their playoff position, is hard to say. But for right now, I am saying no.
