Streak: 1LTarget Center - Minneapolis, MN Mar. 27, 2011 - 2:30 PM (PST) Matchups Louis Williams PG Baron Davis Wesley Johnson SG Nick Young Michael Beasley SF Wilson Chandler Kevin Love PF Blake Griffin Darko Milicic C DeAndre Jordan A LEAD TOO BIG TO OVERCOME
THE FACTS: Michael Beasley does it again as the Timberwolves have found themselves winning 3 in a row, one of the wins coming against the West #1 team, the New Orleans Hornets. Maybe it was too early for the Clippers, but they were not sharp at all as they fell behind by as many as 23 points in the first half. It was the T'Wolves tough defense as they were either contesting shots or blocking them, the Clippers shot a 35% on a season low 39 first half points. The 3Q was not much better as the Clippers found themselves behind by over 30 points most of the quarter. A late run by Blake Griffin would allow them to exit behind by 24. Then all of a sudden the Clippers finally started to play their game in the 4Q as they were able to get the lead down to as low as 18 points. T'Wolves coach Kurt Rambis quickly put his starter back in and the lead grew again to 20+. Once VDN decided to bring back Baron and Blake, they began to chip at the deficit again. With less than two minutes in the game, the Clippers did the unthinkable and got the lead to single digits. In the final moments, a pair of Baron Davis 3 pointers cut a lead that was once 36 to only 3. But the lead was just too much to overcome as the Clippers had chances to get within 1 point, but a Blake Griffin 3 point attempt fell just short of its mark.
THE STAT: The Clippers comeback that fell short was in part with 49 points the 4Q, which set a new team record in most points in a quarter (previous 47 points @ San Antonio 1986)
QUOTABLE: Kurt Rambis, "We played hard, but you have to credit them (Clippers) for coming back. Next season we will be better, we will get better at closing out games."
HOT: Blake Griffin scored 41 points which included a career high 3 3-pointers
NOT: Nick Young was still in double figures, but did not score in the first half, mainly due to foul trouble as he picked up his 4th before halftime
GOOD MOVE: When the game was still fun for the Clippers, Baron Davis was on the fast break and threw a lob behind him for a Blake Griffin alley-oop slam dunk
BAD MOVE: Only Baron Davis was back to stop a streaking Wesley Johnson, so Blake Griffin tried to come and help...he was too late on the play and got on a nasty Wes Johnson Poster
Injuries: N/A

THE FACTS: The Clippers came out as if they were avenging their loss against the Timberwolves as they were putting on a defensive exhibition to start the game. The Clippers looked well on their way to a better start on their second long road trip of the season as they made it hard for the Cavaliers to score. However, when JJ Hickson subbed in, he changed the game with 6 straight points off the bench. The Cavaliers would stay somewhat close and trail by only 5 by halftime despite their poor play. The second half started almost in reverse as the Cavaliers quickly took a lead while the Clippers struggled to score. The Clippers nearly had a 3Q collapse, but escaped with a 2 point lead thanks to rookie Al-Farouq Aminu scoring 9 of his 11 3Q points in the final 2 minutes of the quarter. 6th Man of the Year candidate Daniel Gibson helped the Cavaliers go on a 14-5 run and take a lead as high as 8 points. The Clippers appeared to be on the verge of losing another game on the road, but they kept getting to the line, making free throws until they were able to take the lead again. *Read "Bad Move" for summary of final moments of the game)
THE STAT: Despite the Clippers continued struggles on the road, Blake Griffin records his second straight game with 40+ points
QUOTABLE: Antawn Jamison on his last second fumble, "...no comment."
HOT: JJ Hickson was the lone catalyst for the Cavs with a team high 24 points, who not only got them in the game early on, but helped get the lead in the second half (Hickson was NOT on the floor in the final moments as Coach Byron Scott decided to go with veteran Antawn Jamison instead - See below how that worked out for them)
NOT: Antawn Jamison had only 1 TO in the game, unfortunately it came in the final seconds of the game when they had one last chance to try to win the game
GOOD MOVE: On the fast break, Baron Davis throws a lob from beyond the 3point line to Blake Griffin for a game tying slam dunk
BAD MOVE: With the Cavaliers down by only 1 and 9 seconds left, Nick Young missed both free throws and as Antawn Jamison grabbed the rebound and brought the ball up court for a final attempt for the win, his pass to Beno Udrih completely misses and bounces off Blake Griffin, DeAndre Jordan picks up the ball and throws in the air allowing the time to run out without giving the Cavaliers a chance to foul.

Streak: 2WPrudential Center - Newark, NJ Mar. 30, 2011 - 7:30 PM (PST) Matchups Deron Williams PG Baron Davis Anthony Morrow SG Nick Young Travis Outlaw SF Wilson Chandler Kris Humphries PF Blake Griffin Brook Lopez C DeAndre Jordan CLIPS CLOSE OUT NETS, BUT BARON GOES DOWN
THE FACTS: The referees were calling this game close from the start calling foul after foul, that neither team was able to get into a groove offensively as the game was tied at 31 after 1 quarter. Blake Griffin was the only one unaffected as he scored 19 1Q points as he relentlessly dunked on almost every Nets player. The rest of the way however, it was clear that the Clippers were not sharp in their second game of a back to back. When Blake was on the bench, the Clippers had a scoring drought for about 4 minutes. This allowed Travis Outlaw to score in bunches for the Nets and give them a lead, but not by much as the Nets could not take advantage and shot poorly below 40%. The 3Q was another story however as the Clippers were able to build a lead as high as 10, but then Baron Davis goes down grabbing his knee after colliding with Brook Lopez. Baron would soon come out of the game to be examined. He only had a sore knee, but did not come back into the game because by then the Clippers would increase their lead to as much as 20 points, allowing their veteran point guard to rest the knee for the rest of the night.
THE STAT: This win for the Clippers going along with the Mavericks losing in an upset to the Sixers, the Clippers are now in the 3rd spot in the playoff picture, inching them away from a first round matchup with their hallway rival LA Lakers
QUOTABLE: Baron on his knee, "I just need to rest it now, I will try it out during shoot around of our next game. If it feels good maybe I will give it a go."
HOT: Blake Griffin was a poster machine in this game, his victims include but were not limited to: Travis Outlaw, Kris Humphires, Brook Lopez, Sasha Vujacic, Anthony Morrow, and rookie Damion Jones
NOT: Brook Lopez had an off night being in constant foul trouble, he only scored 6 points in the limited minutes
GOOD MOVE: On the fast break Blake Griffin received the pass and threw down a reverse clutch slam dunk on the Nets
BAD MOVE: Jordan Farmar got the steal and the slam dunk on the break, but completely failed on the landing
Injuries: Midway in the 3Q Baron Davis drove into the lane and collided with Brook Lopez, Baron landed hard and quickly grabbed his knee. He was able to get back up and make the free throws, but on the next deadball he was called to the bench and did not return for the rest of the game, the medical staff has diagnosed him with a sore knee and is listed as day-to-day, with the playoffs close the Clippers may chose to rest him and give rookies Eric Bledsoe and Willie Warren more PT until their backcourt is fully healed
