Of course, I'm looking for the sweep, but I have the feeling CP3 will explode and win a game for the Hornets. The plan is another season, at least, to see your NLSCers being drafted and into the league.

Mavs4Life wrote:Good win. Not too close, but not too far either. (Y)

Yeah, I was winning by 25 and they had a small run in the end. They killed me from 3-point land.

hova- wrote:"The video is not available in your country" :(

Great win, I was hoping that Manu would come up with something special. The Hornets just aren't good enough and CP3 has to play a tad better to beat you. Great pictures (Y)

Could you see the other videos? May be because of the music I chose. Manu went for 27, that's special for me, I tend to balance the score a little more.

Cruzerr wrote:The Tv is good, but slides are like..awesome ! :D

Another great game by Manu.

Yeah I like the slides more too. :) Manu's on fire, let's see if he can keep up next game.

Again -- Hornets are unstoppable from deep; take the win at San Antonio and tie series
Preview | Recap | Game Info | Full Play-by-Play | Boxscores (NOH :: SAS)

SAN ANTONIO, April 20 -- The New Orleans Hornets did not allow Manu Ginobili to burn them down the stretch this time. Antawn Jamison scored 23 points and grabbed eight rebounds and Trevor Ariza added 22 points for the Hornets, who defeated the San Antonio Spurs, 117-104 to even their Western Conference first-round series at one game each. “It looks like the sixth man role suits Antawn well,” said Hornets coach Monty Williams. “Without him we would not have been the same team in this playoffs.” After opening up a 16-4 lead, the Hornets allowed the Spurs to pull within 28-25 after one quarter, and an all-around 52-52 tie at the break. San Antonio got within three points twice midway through the third period: Tim Duncan made it 89-86 on a layup, but Ariza countered with a fastbreak dunk and Jamison made a 3-pointer to make it 94-86, and the Spurs got no closer than eight points thereafter. This time, Ariza held Ginobili to 17 points, 11 in the first half and only six in the second. “(Ariza is) a good defender, but I've got to give credit to their team defense as a whole,” said Ginobili. “I was able to get around him most of the time, but it was the double team they sent at me that caused us problems.” Jamison disagreed with Manu's downplaying of Ariza's defensive play.

“You gotta give Trevor more credit,” the Hornets' leading scorer said. “He's much smarter than you give him credit for. He understands what he needs to do for this team.” Jamison also had two assists, a steal and a block for the Hornets, including five treys, just like in Game 1. David West contributed 20 points and five rebounds, completing the 20-point trio for New Orleans. “We definitely pay a lot of attention to Manu,” added coach Williams. “Our goal was to make it tough for him to score. We only played him tough for the first half last game. Tonight we played him tight for the entire night.” Chris Paul added 17 points, 17 assists, four boards and four steals for the Hornets, who shot a series-high 56 percent (46-of-82), again shot 50 percent or better from 3-point territory (11-of-22), and limited the Spurs to 46 percent (37-of-80). “I struggled against the Spurs in the regular season, that was rough for me,” said Paul. “But I'm a guy you can't count out. In the end, I always finds a way to come through,” he added with a big smile. Marco Belinelli scored 12 points but is questionable for Game 3 after suffering a sprained toe in the fourth quarter. The Italian guard commented: “We played a good game defensively. We needed this game and we came out with a sense of urgency. Everybody came out and executed. The keys, I think, down the stretch was getting some good stops.”

In Game 1, last Sunday, Ginobili scored 12 and 15 points in the first and second half, respectively, to lead the Spurs to a 110-95 victory, going 12-of-20 from the field. In this contest, he was held scoreless in the third quarter and shot just 6-of-16 from the field and couldn't sink a field goal from deep: 0-of-4. “I feel pretty exhausted right now, but the coach wanted me to play as much as possible. I just tried to answer the bell,” he said. “Just like last game, we got down in the first quarter, but we can't expect to come back all the time. Falling behind so many points takes a lot out of you when you make a comeback effort. Nevertheless, I am proud of our efforts.” Corey Maggette came back from a short, 9-point effort in Game 1 to score 20 points, in 7-of-11 shooting, including a huge alley-oop dunk from Tony Parker (14 points, eight dimes) that brought the AT&T Center crowd to their feet. “We dug ourselves a big hole and we couldn't dig ourselves out tonight,” said Spurs coach Gregg Popovich. “We didn't challenge their shots from beyond the arc and we only play well when we do challenge shots. This became a problem when we got down by almost 20 points; that changed my substitution patterns. It's hard to take Manu and Tim out of the game when you have that big of a deficit. Now they play at their arena, this gives them a big momentum.”

Coach Popovich makes key adjustments; TP, Spurs stop Hornets to take 2-1 lead
Preview | Recap | Game Info | Full Play-by-Play | Boxscores (SAS :: NOH)

NEW ORLEANS, April 23 -- Corey Maggette and Tony Parker made sure the San Antonio Spurs quickly regained home-court advantage from the New Orleans Hornets. Maggette scored 20 points for the second straight game and Parker had 17 and nine assists as the Spurs defeated the Hornets, 103-92 to take a 2-1 lead in their Western Conference first-round series. First-seeded Spurs had lost home-court advantage in the best-of-seven series last game, a 117-104 defeat. “It's huge,” said Maggette. “That's what we were out there to do. It's been a bad couple days for us, giving up home-court advantage. We wanted to come out here today and take care of business. And we did it.” Once again, the Hornets had an early lead, 19-9, continuing their momemtum from Game 2. The first quarter ended with New Orleans holding a 27-23 lead. But San Antonio opened the second quarter with a 12-2 spurt, taking a 35-29 lead on a three-point play by Parker. Manu Ginobili added 16 points and Tim Duncan chipped in 13 and 12 rebounds for the Spurs.

“In the first half we were playing in spurts,” said Duncan. “Coming into the third quarter, we made better, simple plays, we passed the ball and let the other guy make a play -- that's playing basketball.” New Orleans pulled within 56-54 on a dunk by Trevor Ariza in the middle of the third quarter, but Ginobili made a pair of free throws and then Maggette sank a 3-pointer to open a 61-54 cushion. Parker blocked a layup attempt by Marcus Thornton and in the following play was fouled on a layup, making two more free throws to make it 63-54, and the Hornets got no closer than six points after that. In the fourth quarter, San Antonio had a 18-point lead and closed the game with a mix of starters and reserves; Gary Neal had 7 points in five minutes and Larry Hughes also had seven points for the Spurs. All these six mentioned Spurs visited the charity stripe. “We knew we were in the bonus and we wanted to get to the basket,” Ginobili said. “Even if we had a wide-open jumper, we wanted to get to the basket and we got a bigger advantage.” The Hornets had a small 8-0 run in the last two minutes, but it was not enough.

“It's really frustrating,” said Ariza, who scored a game-best 24 points. “We played solid defense for most of the game, but they went to the free-throw line a lot. I think that's one of the things that really killed us.” The Spurs committed 11 first-half turnovers but had just four after intermission. “In the second half, I thought they executed a lot better and did get the ball inside,” added Antawn Jamison, who scored 19 points. The Hornets, who shot over 50 percent from long range in both Game 1 and 2, were held to 20 percent in this occasion (3-of-15). “They made some adjustments that we couldn't overcome,” said Hornets coach Monty Williams. “In previous games we found a way to score, which it was from 3-point land, but tonight they played differently. We couldn't find a way to stop that.” Chris Paul scored 14 points and added 16 assists to pace New Orleans, which was outscored in the paint, 54-42. “We had shots at the basket,” said Emeka Okafor. “We had some open shots, we just did not make them.” Game 4 is this Wednesday, April 27, in New Orleans. “We're closer than what people think we are,” added Paul. “It's obvious when we stole the game down there and it went right down to the second half tonight. We'll just bounce back.” Marco Belinelli was a game-time decision and played four minutes for the Hornets, but suffered an even worst injury: a broken wrist. The Italian will miss the rest of this series.
