In time lebron will probably grow into his role, but right now. My vote is for bryant. Bryant knows his role, and knows it well. Kobe knows he is the franchise, maybe someone else is the future of the lakers, but he is the leader, and he is the man now. Lebron, if he idolizes MJ so much, should have known that MJ stuck it out with his franchise, because he is the main man. Lebron seriously damaged his legacy by blowing off the cavs.

I might be ranting right now, mostly because I'm drunk again. But a real hero doesn't quit. Bad knee, broken finger nothing. Well, actually, poor shooting night nothing as well. Yes on the Cavs he was the franchise but now he can't be because of that guy referred to as Dwayne Wade, and your talking about LeBron being a quitter? OK Kobe was on the lakers with HOF players all around him along with one of the best/dominant centers in Shaq, and they won and everything was roses and peaches. Then Shaq left and do you remember that one time Kobe ASKED FOR A TRADE???? How's that for loyal? He wasn't winning anymore and he wanted to leave till they got him someone to play with(pun intended). LeBron on the other hand was contractually obligated to play for a team and when that contract was over, he simply left. Sure he coulda handled it better and sure Cavs was more like home to him and would have been fitting for him to stay there and win but when all these geniuses say oh LeBron hasn't won a ring blah blah blah how can you blame the man for wanting to go to a better place?
And as far as the big three, dirk etc being better than LeBron? i totally agree. (In my borat voice) NOT!
NOt even close, none of those players are in the caliber of players as LeBron and the only person who was closest was KG(but injuries and age is catching up with him). And sure it takes a real man to keep gunning but it takes a even more realistic man to make the right play as opposed to coming out and shooting from the concession stands just because he's Kobe.

The answer has to be DeSagana Diop, because i gots him in my 2k Association, and he isn't that bad.

But in a more serious way, that extends beyond video games and into real life: I'm tempted to pick Przybilla. He took over the keys to Portland's interior when Oden went down time and time again, and was incredibly consistent. He didn't hurt the team, which is about all that you can hope for when you're plucking a player from that list.

I'd much prefer watching Bol, though. His frame defied all the laws of physics.

Kobe has 5 rings and MVP for just 2, and just one regular season MVP, Jordan had 6 of each, Kobe will never reach that height(not hating but he is past his prime) and the only player playing right now that can possibly do that much (i'm not saying he will be a better player than Micheal but he damn sure can come close to achieving all that and even more). Also by your standards, Manu Ginobli is better than LeBron, and so is Paul Pierce, Ron Artest, Lamar Odom, Dwanye Wade, just to name a few. The argument "BEST PLAYER" can be broken down in different ways, in my argument i broke down the specifics so if MJ was speaking with legacy factored in then yes he's right. But i don't know the context in which he was speaking so like every stan out there i choose to disregard it.
Secondly when was the video recorded? what if this was recorded Jan 1, 2004? Then doesn't really mean much now does it.
At last but not least, as i said before we are all entitled to our opinions and even if the vid was recorded yesterday afternoon, that's just one man's opinion. Sure it should be taken with much more severity because it is MJ after all but even so, it's just one man's opinion. I mean MJ had gambling problems so it's not like his decision making has a good track record anyways

If Kobe was better than LeBron, then I'm sure he would've been able to lead a team of scrubs to two consecutive 60-win seasons, singlehandedly. The fact that the best player that played with LeBron in Cleveland was probably Mo Williams, and yet, the team won a lot of basketball games. A bunch of the players on that team depended on an open look. What happened to Cleveland once LeBron left? I think a 26-game losing streak does the talking.

Kobe? He's had Gary Payton, Shaq, and now Gasol and Bynum. All five of the championships Kobe has won was because he had one or more dominant big men on his team. LeBron's never had a dominant big man (unless you count Z in his prime), and he still doesn't have one now.

Yes, Kobe does have some advantages over LeBron (eg. better shot, clutch player), but overall, imo, LeBron's the better player, simply because of the fact that he's faster, a better leaper, and a lot more versatile than Kobe.

Yes, we all have different definitions. Charles Barkley was a pretty good basketball player too and he say LeBron is better. So now what does that prove? Obviously Charles doesn't take it to mean the "winning-est" player because Kobe has 2 finals MVP, he is taking it as who is playing the best basketball. Right now. Period. Not team success. I don't see how ppl don't get that, it truly blows my mind. It's just like the all-star voting quandary, do you pick Lamarcus Aldridge because Portland is winning or do you pick Kevin Love because of what he is doing on the court while disregarding team success. Even forget the all-star thing, would you say Ray Allen is better than Joe Johnson because well ummm, Ray Allen has a ring, and Celtics are (arguably the best team in the east) and got to the finals last year, and have a better record??? Exactly, that would just be plain stupid yet people are blinded by the bling in Kobe's 5 rings(WHICH HE ONLY HAS MVP FOR 2 BTW).
Think about it, NBA greats Magic, Shaq, Duncan, etc have 3 Finals MVP, and Kobe might even get one this season and join them, but none of them have 6. So stop calling out the number 5 because that distorts reality and makes it sound closer to MJ's 6 than it really is. And regular season MVP, you'd have to be pretty darn good to win one of those and LeBron already won 2, and Kobe has only 1 even tho he's been in the league for a while.
