KNICKS AND NUGGETS INVOLVED IN ANOTHER TRADE
The Knicks have been 9-7 and since the trade and are currently in the 6th seed in the playoff picture in the East, but Carmelo Anthony has yet to sign the 3 year, $65 million extension...until now. The Knicks have stated that Carmelo is happy being with the team and just wanted to make sure they were headed in the right direction. Their standings could be better, but is favorable, which is why they decided to conduct two more trades.
First they talked with the Nuggets again and worked out a deal to land Carmelo's running mate Chancey Billups, whom had success together in the playoffs. They then made a cost cutting move to acquire Corey Brewer from the Timberwolves in exchange for Anthony Randolph and Ryan Gomes.
Corey Brewer is rumored to be bought out by the trade deadline. If he is the possible teams that would be interested start with the Dallas Mavericks and the Boston Celtics among others.
Since the trade, Melo has been very happy and showed it by scoring 41 points with his new/old teammates in a narrow 3 point win against the Bulls
The Nuggets were sad to let Denver native Billups go, but with Melo gone they were in rebuilding mode. They plan to start their new acquisition Raymond Felton in the time being and have sent Ty Lawson do the D-League to avoid the two Point Guards from clashing in minutes. In the long run however, they envision Ty Lawson as they believe he is their point guard of the future with Felton accepting a 6th man role.
Incoming: G Chancey Billups, F Renaldo Balkman, C Shelden Williams, G Anthony Carter
+ Carmelo Anthony 3YR/$65M contract extension
Incoming: G Raymond Felton, F Danilo Gallinari, F Kelenna Azubuike
Incoming: F Corey Brewer
Incoming: F Anthony Randolph, F Ryan Gomes
NETS ANSWER WITH TRADES OF THEIR OWN
In light Knicks recent trade, the Nets have made a bold move to acquire their own star to build around in Deron Williams.
Rumors have been circulating that Jazz long time coach Jerry Sloan has not been eye-to-eye with Deron and management has decided that it is time to move him before he messes up their system in Utah. Devin Harris, a former all-star with Dallas will replace Williams in the starting lineup and sources have said that Devin is honored to run the Jerry Sloan system. Along with Harris comes rookie Derrick Favors, adding to an already strong front court of Al Jefferson and Paul Millsap.
The Nets hope to start with Deron Williams as a stepping stone to acquire more talents through Free Agency as they have virtually given up all but 1 pick in the 2012 draft. They are also taking a risk as they have 2 years to convince Deron to sign a contract extension or else risk losing him in Free Agency in 2012.
In addition, they have also moved Troy Murphy to the Warriors for Brandan Wight and Dan Gadzuric. The Warriors are rumored to buyout Murphy's contract by the trade deadline, if so, the Boston Celtics or the Miami Heatseem to be the front runners to sign Murphy.
Incoming: G Deron Williams
Incoming: G Devin Harris, F Derrick Favors, 2011 1st Round Pick (NJN), 2012 1st Round Pick (NJN)
Incoming: F Brandan Wright, C Dan Gadzuric
Incoming: F Troy Murphy, 2012 2nd Round Pick (NJN)

THE FACTS: The Clippers started and ended the game hot. In the 1Q they held the Kings to only 1 FG in the first 4 minutes of the game and broke out a 15 point edge quickly. Tyreke Evans and his 42 points was able to get the Kings as close as 2 points, mainly by penetration and drawing fouls. By the 3Q he was able to get Blake Griffin, Eric Gordon, and Baron Davis into foul trouble. Blake started the 4Q though and came in to score 10 quick points and push a 4 point lead to 10. Next Eric Gordon entered and made 6 3PT in the 4Q (adding on to 6 he made earlier) and completely put the game out of reach. VDN had the bench come in by the 3 minute mark to simple run the clock.
THE STAT: Blake Griffin with another 35+ game, 10 in a row
QUOTABLE: Eric Gordon, "Really? I didn't know I set a record. They should have kept me in a little longer...I could have hit another one and beat Blake's record of points in a game. Hahah, just kidding. All that matters is a win."
HOT: Eric Gordon Franchise record 12 3-pointers (6 in the 4Q)
NOT: Kings 3 Point shooting, 1-16
GOOD MOVE: Oklahoma Sooners connection: Willie Warren found Blake Griffin on a fast break for an alley-oop early in the 4Q, just like back in their college days together.
BAD MOVE: Blake Griffin, Eric Gordon, and Baron Davis all got suckered into Tyreke Evans style of play and got into foul trouble in the 3Q
Injuries: N/A
