First Mass Effect is great -- except for the bouncy planet cruiser vehicle and ridiculous inventory system.

So worth getting despite the awful DRM it has?

Absolutely, it's a fantastic game. The DRM thing is just a detail, it'd be shame not to play ME because of that.

Will definitely get it, just that I am having doubts whether it will be a good purchase or not especially with the limited installs. I am getting the Platinum Edition or the one that has the black cover which I think is a Platinum and the cheaper one

finally got into black ops since my new roommate moved in. it's not bad since all they had to do was follow a tried-and-true formula, but it could be better

So just checked a Mass Effect gameplay on Youtube and it's a 3rd person shooter and some decision making in whoever you kill will affect the ending at some point?
Sat Feb 26, 2011 3:54 am
Yes. A third-person shooter/RPG hybrid. I recommend the game because of the depth of the story, and it brings you an experience near the game that will --

And it is a trilogy by the way. Third game will be on December.

I am playing Breach still, sooooo close from getting SLAM charges (proximity mines), tehehehe, cant wait
Havent been playing much else, been pretty busy with this that and other stuff. I'm hoping to get some time in on GT5, Halo Reach, RB3, and some post patch 2K11 plus the online league.

Seems they are going to do that to with the rest and release all episodes in one pack with "never before seen content."

i'm psyched for Yakuza 4 when it comes out in a few weeks. i'll be addicted to that so badly.
Wed Mar 02, 2011 4:52 pm
How's Yakuza 3?
Wed Mar 02, 2011 7:05 pm
I dunno if you've played the 1st 2 yakuza games on ps2, but they are awesome. a lot of people compare it to the GTA games, but that doesn't do it any justice. there's no way you can compare em because Yakuza is a japanese-style RPG game with an open world and turns into a 3rd person fighter/shooting game from time to time. yeah, it does sound like GTA from that description, but you can level up your character, learn new abilities, choose which abilities you get, and buy stuff & keep an inventory. they do a great job of putting minigames into the world also. I would definitely recommend it to everyone. You aren't required to play the 1st 2 games to play 3, they do a great job of summarizing the story in the main menu if you haven't
Wed Mar 02, 2011 7:42 pm
Only played the 2nd game, it was awesome until I got lost in that stage where you try to get out of that main antagonist mansion that I think is still early in the game.
Wed Mar 02, 2011 8:33 pm
yeah it's pretty much the same format. i heard in yakuza 4 they let you play the story from the perspective of 4 different characters so you won't have to play as kazuma the whole time. it's coming out in the states in about 2 weeks.
i don't understand how you can't finish the game. they make it easier especially when you die a lot they allow you to lower the difficulty. i tried playing yakuza 3 on hard and the only hard part was one chapter that you finish straight through without dying. you can try going to walkthroughs on the internet when you get stuck too.

For some odd reason, I'm playing NBA 2k10. LeBron just scored 79 in a playoff game

Got a new laptop this week and while away at my parents got to play some Dirt 2 since that was the first and only game I remembered to download off Steam before I left (Breach doesn't count cause playing with a touchpad = fail).
I forgot how much fun that game is, can't wait for Dirt 3 now.....and this is quite possibly the best named achievement ever.

Jon you naughty you.

I'm waiting for Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and even Dragon Age 2, even if the latter's demo disappointed me to hell. Right now NBA 2K11 is eating up my gaming time.
Mon Mar 07, 2011 11:28 am
Playing Dead Space 2 right now. The PC controls are much more satisfying than the first game, and it's still as sickening...
Sat Mar 19, 2011 12:48 am
I played a little FIFA World Cup 2010 and won the World Cup with Greece.
But it's March Madness, so it's all about College Hoops 2k8.

Playing Assassin's Creed Brotherhood on PC right now, and having a good time with it. Nothing drastically different from its predecessor but a solid game with plenty of room to maneuver.
I'm just waiting for Crysis 2 to become a but cheaper, because 60 bucks is fucking robbery for PC, and also waiting for Portal 2 next month.
Sun Mar 27, 2011 10:06 am
Crysis 2 is a lot of fun, I bit on that Amazon deal that gives you the download ($52) along with $15 credit which got me the 70% off Hot Pursuit. I think $40 is well worth it (if it gets good DX11 support and community tools then I would have dropped $60 in a second)
Also played a LOT of Flatout (where is that treasured thread), Flatout UC, then got an emulator working and played some Tobal No 2, and Bushido Blade.
Sun Mar 27, 2011 1:01 pm
I started to get the demo from steam, watched a few videos and decided to buy it. I looked for a better deal than steam and found the amazon one. I'll be installing it in 10 minutes.
Mon Mar 28, 2011 3:32 am
Multiplayer is a lot more fun than I thought it would be. Lovin' it.
Hot Pursuit's install files were corrupted 2 times in a row during the install...and with amazon you gotta redownload the whole thing each time...so I just put the CD key into EA Download Manager and am getting the game that way....much easier.
I also got really inconsistent and slow speeds with the Amazon downloader, ~600kb/s whereas the last thing I got from Steam was over 3mb/s...EADM gave me 2mb/s.
They might have better deals, but I think I'll stick with Steam for full priced things. Evidently D2D has been doing a lot of good deals too. /random

Got Mass Effect 2 (and all the DLCs) while waiting for pay day and finally get Brotherhood. I will re-play ME2 for its final DLC.
