Team Chicago is comprised of the Chicago Bulls’ Taj Gibson, who will represent the Sophomores in the 2011 T-Mobile Rookie Challenge & Youth Jam to be held Feb. 18 at Staples Center; the Chicago Sky’s Cathrine Kraayveld, one the WNBA’s best long-range shooters; and TNT NBA Analyst Steve Kerr, a five-time NBA champion with the Chicago Bulls (1996-98) and San Antonio Spurs (1999, 2003).

Not that I'm that excited by the event, I'd still drop it in favour of lengthening the dunk contest, but nice to see Kerr representing the Bulls. I would've picked Korver over Gibson for an event like this but hey, it's just the Shooting Stars.

I remember San Antonio winning it with Tim Duncan and David Robinson. Anything's possible on the half court heave.

Good comeback win over the Hornets, which also gave us this:

Bobcats are up next. Hopefully they don't blow it this time.

Chicago Still Has a Bulls-Eye On The East Contenders

Good read, though I would be surprised if they made the NBA Finals. Not that they shouldn't be trying to get to the Finals and win it all, that's the whole point after all, but I do think it's going to be Boston or Miami coming out of the East. If they can stay healthy once they get Noah back, Conference Finals might not be too much of a stretch though.

Really nice read. Hopefully the team is back on its way to the top.I would really love to see them in the Finals from this year's playoffs, though highly unlikely, but at least going to the semis and losing at 6-7 games or even going to the ECF.That's what I believe this team can achieve(if not more).

Well, next year and with the final piece in the puzzle(a great SG),Chicago is going to be a top 3 contender for me!

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

interesting read. careful though- going off the current standings, their 1st round opponent is the knicks

they are a poor matchup for them, Anthony or not, and they have lost twice to them already. Philly's been on a roll since Iggy got interested again

surprised the bulls were able to get away with Korver playing big minutes down the stretch. anyone else that Diaw still looks out of shape even though the season's more then halfway done

Good to see them avoid falling to the Bobcats for the third time this season. Spurs game is being shown here, that's a tough one before the All-Star break but they looked like they might beat them in San Antonio earlier in the season (with Noah and without Boozer) before a third quarter collapse so they might just have a shot at getting a big win before All-Star Weekend.

Great win over the Spurs and a new career high of 42 points for Rose. (Y)

Rose was just amazing.A real statement performance.
:shake: @ NBA. 27 seconds for Rose's career night???
If it have been James or even Griffin they would have at least a couple of minutes!

Good stuff. I'm always worried about the bulls playing bad on national tv. Last year how many times were they destroyed by boston on espn friday showcase games? Loll

At least twice, if I recall correctly. Those were some tough games to watch.

James Johnson seems to have been traded to the Raptors for Miami's 2011 first-rounder.

Fair enough, really. He wasn't going to get a chance with the Bulls, and the draft pick probably has more value as a trade asset, even if it is only going to be in the 25-30 range.

Hopefully, he can make something of himself in Toronto.

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Wed Feb 23, 2011 6:36 pm

Agreed. It's a shame it didn't work out (or that pick wasn't used on someone like Darren Collison, Ty Lawson or DeJuan Blair, though in Blair's case his knees scared almost everyone off) but no point keeping him around to rot on the bench. Good for Johnson too, he should have a decent chance to get some playing time in Toronto, something that wasn't going to happen in Chicago.

Another rumour:

The Chicago Bulls are still pursuing shooting guard Courtney Lee, offering a first-round draft pick to the Houston Rockets, sources said.

Chicago could make the offer more intriguing with the addition of the Miami Heat’s 2011 first-round pick that the Bulls acquired from Toronto for forward James Johnson on Tuesday. For now, the Rockets are determined to bring back size and want Bulls center Omar Asik in any package for Lee.

The Bulls are determined to find a shooting guard before Thursday’s deadline.

What do you think? I'm a little leery of giving up Asik for a shooting guard and trading big for small. Not that I think he's untouchable or should be, but Thomas isn't a long term solution, I like Asik's potential and I'm not sure Lee is a can't miss deal. He's 6'5" and shooting 42% on threes making just under one a game in around 18 minutes a night though, so I like the idea of him in the rotation more than I do Bogans. Still, come next season they'll have traded one problem (three point shooting, depth at shooting guard) for another (depth at centre), so I'm not sure. It wouldn't be a disaster but thinking long term, I'm on the fence.

It'd be great if they could turn that first round pick into something though, here's hoping they can make a solid deal before the deadline be it the Lee trade or something else.

Nice trade fpr the Bulls.Trading away a useless player for a draft pick which can be used for acquiring a starting shooting guard.
Marcus Thornton and OJ Mayo would be my top preferations for a potential trade.

Oh,and Jo is back in action! Now we can see the full potential of the team!

Speaking of Thornton I heard he just got traded to SAC for Landry.

Mayo's stock might have dropped a little following a couple of incidents this season but I'm guessing he might still be out of reach.

Well, that was a disappointing loss to the Raptors. Not quite what any of us had in mind I'm sure when Noah's return was announced.

Disappointed loss with really bad defensive job...
And one of my two preferations is traded away.
1 hour still and let's see what Bulls' management has in store for us!
Let's hope they can make a deadline deal.

Just under seven hours according to the countdown on Yahoo! NBA, as of this post anyway. Looks like nothing is going to come to fruition, though there's obviously still time.

Still picking them against the Heat tomorrow.

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Thu Feb 24, 2011 11:51 pm

Really? 'Cause the countdown in NBA.com is over....

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Fri Feb 25, 2011 12:37 am

It's 5 and 1/2 hours away. I doubt they'll pull the trigger, and if say they trade Gibson or Brewer for a SG, they're going to be undermanned tonight against the Heat.

I think it only counted down to the start of the deadline day and not the end of the day, which is the real deadline.

oh,that might be the case. Thanks for making it clear shad (Y)

Actually it uses your local time to see if the deadline has passed (in this case 3PM in Greece came 7 hours before Eastern Time).
