Ray Allen doing his best Kwame impersonation

8th straight for the Mavs and Dirk needs 54 straight FT to get his percentage to 90%.
Sun Feb 06, 2011 7:56 pm
buzzy, hey Kwame's having a career year this season.
Mon Feb 07, 2011 1:52 am
'Bout damn time. lol
Nothing against him, just everytime someone gets beaten by a pump fake on the three point line flapping arms and all, it reminds me of this shot

It looks like it's similar to what happened to Melo last year. When Daniels drove into Arenas he might have hit that nerve or whatever it is in your neck because it doesn't look like Arenas did anything at all. Someone who understands what I'm talking about might be able to explain it better.

From what I've heard it's bruised spinal cord, so he's at least somewhat fine. Should miss at least month.
Also, I think I saw the Shimmy in the crowd.

Amar'e dropped 41 points on 17/21 shooting today.
Mon Feb 07, 2011 2:28 pm
Fields with a career-high of 25 pts. he also grabbed 10 rebs. double-double...
Mon Feb 07, 2011 7:47 pm
marquis got a concussion oon a very similar play in the playoffs last year. could be related. anyways, delonte back after the all-star break

Ooooh Anthony Parker you could have made a clutch shot against the mavs last night, too bad though. I love when the "cavs" play the "mavs".
Wed Feb 09, 2011 3:23 am
Mavs defeated the Cavs last night to give them the most epic losing streak ever. Though Mavs are doing well, they sure don't pass the eye test. I think they will fall in the first round again this year.
Wed Feb 09, 2011 4:09 am
Was surprised it wasn't a blowout. Dirk almost got injured as well.

"Andrea Bargnani is European. Does this hurt his post defense?"
Ah, FSWisconsin, is there no end to your idiocy?

What the fuck is the 'eye test'?! Good grief.

Don't get offended. I like stats, but by "watching the game", I thought the Mavs looked really bad. If you want me to mention that for the second straight year, the team's Pythagorean record is several games worse than their actual one (which eventually led to them being exposed in the playoffs), then I can talk about that.
Bottom line, much like the Brandon Roy-led Blazers did, the Mavs' jumper oriented offense looks bad. However, also much like the Brandon Roy-led Blazers did, the Mavs always win a lot of regular season games.
Wed Feb 09, 2011 4:07 pm
Their record in 3 or less point games this season is 8-2. Last season, it was 9-2. Before that, 10-4. Surely you can't call that a fluke, and that ought to account for the pythag. record discrepancy. There was an article labelling Dirk and LeBron as 'black swans', in terms of being unique in their effect on late-game scenarios, and I think that's a worthy argument, especially when combined with 82games.com's clutch-time statistics.
And how many Mavs games have you watched this season? The Mavs play like horse turd against a lot of shitty opponents. Their offensive and defensive efficiency/100 possessions are both solid. Arguably Dirk missing nine or so games killed that offensive efficiency number.
Do I think they'll get past the second round? Pretty doubtful there too. But I find your argument shallow.

Plus remember that playoff series are a small sample size measure - they should hardly represent a regression to mean as suggested by analysing a larger sample size. The Mavs' record in 3 points or less games that series? 0-1. Fuck yeah, we can work with that.
Wed Feb 09, 2011 4:16 pm
I've only seen the Mavs play 5 or 6 times this year, and I wouldn't quite call this an argument. All I'm saying is that they have a style of play that *looks* ineffective and that I'm not sold on them as contenders. I'd go further into detail about the advanced stats, but I'm tired.
If you want to, you can talk about how Portland probably won't make the playoffs

Let's see...
It's a fluke.
There you go.

Please do. I can wait.

Go back to flogging arguments about Kobe's superiority to LeBron and acting angry about Henry Abbott's not-clutch piece.
Wed Feb 09, 2011 6:32 pm
Lamrock isn't totally wrong though... since I also wouldn't be surprised if they get knocked out in the first round again.
They sure are one of the serious contenders when healthy, but then they always have been each and every recent years with Dirk being in prime. Perhaps, Chandler will make some noise this year, otherwise there hasn't been much changes/upgrades to this team. The style remains the same.
EDIT: It seems Blake Griffin got schooled by Dwight tonight, barely getting double-double on 4-12 shooting.

Hoping for Roddy B return

Loving to see DeJuan playing like that. 28 & 11, Spurs keep winning

Turrible officiating in the Mavs - Kings game.
