Wow, Terrence Williams and Emeka Okafor. I usually don't like the All-Star rosters with many debutants etc. but Lopez, Westbrook, Williams are cool.

Congrats to Thierry for making to the ASG. I expect a nice highlight presentation of the ASG from you Thierry. Anything less would be disappointing considering how you present this association.

Brook Lopez and Terrence Williams

Pau got snubbed in the West, and Boozer should've made it over Danny fucking Granger (sorry Thierry, i know ur a Granger fan. I'm definitely not)...Other than that the rosters looks pretty ok (Y)

Blake is underachieving here... I think he's averaging 13 points, 9 rebounds. Wall is frontrunner for ROY.

Sit wrote:What's Williams averages? Weird he made it. Loving how Bogut is an All-Star :)

Yeah I still don't get how he made it. Williams is averaging 15 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists. Nice averages, but there were a lot of players playing better. I'm also happy for Bogut.

Nice that Lopez, Williams made it. They were gonna be reserves anyway; sucks that Dwight and CP3 are out. But Okafor deserves it, 10 points, 12 rebounds, 2 blocks per game.

Thanks a lot man! I'm still thinking how I'm gonna present it, and what I'm gonna do with the 3-Point Shootout and Dunk Contest. I don't like how they look on the street court :(

Pau was injured too, but Dirk was gonna get the reserve spot anyway. Gasol - 17 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists per game. Boozer - 18 points, 10 rebounds. Granger - 20 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals. He deserves it  But I'm not a big Granger fan.

lol @ Terrence Williams, although he posts 20-7-7 quite often in 2K11. Sucks you only got 1 player, but as you don't have a clear leading scorer on your team, that was inevitable.

Glad Wade and James got the start.

Sixers' Big 3 of Turner, Iggy, Brand surprise Spurs with teamwork & hustle
Preview | Recap | Game Info | Full Play-by-Play | Boxscores (SAS :: PHI)

PHILADELPHIA, February 11 -- Evan Turner was a force on offense, and even brought some defense to the table. Turner scored a career-high 26 points and hounded San Antonio's Manu Ginobili and Andre Iguodala had 23 to beat the San Antonio Spurs, 111-105. “I used to play more defense before, at the start of the season,” Turner said with a laugh. “Then the coach told me to be more offensive. And here I am.” His contributions today were on both ends of the floor -- Turner was 12-of-20 from the floor, and while Ginobili scored 21 points, he had to work for them. “You can't do much about a guy like Manu, with the huge skills arsenal he has,” Turner said. “I was just trying to play tight, and when he got the ball, trying to make it difficult for him.” The rebounding and the Sixers' fast-breaks were the difference in the game, as Philadelphia grabbed seven offensive rebounds that turned into 10 second chance points. The Sixers also had a 16-8 advantage in fastbreak points, and grabbed 48 rebounds in total, compared to 38 for the Spurs, who had their 3-game winning streak snapped. “We went after Manu a little bit and made him work on both ends,” said Sixers forward Elton Brand, who posted 20 and 12 rebounds. “That was part of our game plan, and we all did a great job tonight.”

“We scored 105, and that's good for us,” Corey Maggette said. “But when you let your opponent score 111, you have a defensive problem. I didn't guard Evan well, and Andre got 12 free throws. Those are the keys right there.” Maggette scored 17 points and five boards; after Ginobili and Maggette, the only other Spurs in double figures were Tim Duncan, with 13 points and 11 rebounds, and reserve George Hill, who added 14 and eight assists. San Antonio had six straight games with at least five players scoring in double figures. “What we have to do is find a way to get more people involved on defense,” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. “We need more balance than this.” The Spurs could never get the lead in the whole game, and Philadelphia overtook them in the second half, where they posted an 8-point lead. The Sixers extended the advantage to as many as fifteen in the early stages of the fourth quarter, fueled by an 14-6 run. Brand and Turner recorded blocks for Philly, which built its lead while scoring with jumpers as Brand spent the final six minutes in the bench. After Philadelphia built the lead to 103-90, Ginobili hit a 3-pointer and a layup to cut the deficit to 103-95.

But free throws by Iguodala and Jrue Holiday gave the Sixers a 12-point lead with under a minute to play. A layup by Thaddeus Young with 7.4 left was the final margin. “We got some big offensive rebounds in the night,” said Sixers coach Doug Collins. Maggette scored 10 of his 17 points in the first half, but Philadelphia was getting a big offensive contribution from Iguodala, who not only had 16 of his 23 points before halftime, but drew a pair of early fouls from DeJuan Blair, who only scored 6 points in the whole contest. Turner scored 14 of his 26 in the first half. “We played really well as a combo, and Evan played a real good game offensively and defensively on Manu. I thought his effort was really good,” Iguodala said. “When you have a threat other than myself, then the defense has to adjust to it. He made a presence of himself early on. We had fun playing together.” Holiday added 10 points and nine assists for Philadelphia; Holiday played smothering defense over Tony Parker, who only scored 5 points shooting 2-of-11. “It was a good win for us to start our own winning streak,” Holiday said. “We had outstanding performances. Andre, Evan, Elton all played a huge game. Our defense in the second half was flawless.”

Evans, Wall lead Rookie Challenge squads for All-Star Friday
    nba.com/spurs/beat | February 11th, 2011

SAN ANTONIO -- Sacramento Kings guard Tyreke Evans, the 2010 NBA Rookie of the Year, and Washington Wizards' guard John Wall, the 2010 SEC Player of the Year, lead a list of 20 players selected to play in the 2011 T-Mobile Rookie Challenge on NBA All-Star Friday, Feb. 18. The T-Mobile Rookie Challenge, which will be broadcast live nationally by TNT and NBA.com, features this year's top rookies against the league's best second-year players. Last year, the Rookies defeated the Sophomores, 140-128, with Evans earning the Most Valuable Player award. The Rookies win ended a string of seven straight wins by the Sophomores and was the first time the Rookies came out on top since 2002. Will the Rooks kickstart a winning streak this year?

The game will be played in two 20-minute halves. Each team may call one full timeout and one 20 second timeout per half. Individual foul totals will be kept, but a player will not foul out. A team will be in the penalty situation after 10 team fouls or after the second foul in the final two minutes of each half. Two international players will be participating in the contest: Evans teammate in Sacramento, Omri Casspi (Israel), competing on the Sophomore team while San Antonio Spurs' Tiago Splitter (Brazil) will play on the Rookie team.

Evans and Casspi will be joined on the Sophomore team by Darren Collison of the Indiana Pacers, Terrence Williams of the Houston Rockets, Hasheem Thabeet of the Memphis Grizzlies, Jonny Flynn of the Minnesota Timberwolves, Reggie Williams of the Golden State Warriors, Taj Gibson of the Chicago Bulls, and Oklahoma City Thunder duo James Harden and B.J. Mullens.

Wall, Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month for November, December and January, headlines the Rookie team. Joining Wall and Splitter, Evan Turner of the Philadelphia 76ers, Ed Davis of the Toronto Raptors, Cole Aldrich of the Oklahoma City Thunder, Armon Johnson of the Portland Trail Blazers, Xavier Henry of the Memphis Grizzlies, DeMarcus Cousins of the Sacramento Kings, and Los Angeles Clippers duo Blake Griffin and Al-Farouq Aminu will assemble the Rookies.

The rosters of both the Rookies and Sophomores for the 2011 NBA All-Star Rookie Challenge are attached:

I guess Griffin would make more of a SF because he's athletic and has a big dunk arsenal. Happy Splitter made it, but angry Blair didn't. He had some horrible games and missed some others because of injuries, but Mullens over Blair? :shake:

Yeah it's like the Celtics... losing to sucky teams and winning against great squads. Parker was invisible.

Yeah Gibson should start. Now that I think about it, Jennings ain't there! He was injured for like two months, but he's better than Flynn.

Spurs sing fourth quarter blues once again; Arenas, Wall lead Wizards' victory
Preview | Recap | Game Info | Full Play-by-Play | Boxscores (SAS :: WAS)

WASHINGTON, February 12 -- The signs are all too familiar: a dull offense in the fourth period, too much dribbling, not enough passing or movement. Then there are the defensive lapses, leading to easy layups and wide-open jumpers for the opponent. The final result: a last period meltdown. It’s a problem which has plagued the San Antonio Spurs all season and, though they know all the symptoms of their disease, they clearly still have a lot of work to do when it comes to finding a cure for it. It was much evident tonight, as the Spurs allowed a 12-point third quarter lead disappear against the Washington Wizards. The final quarter demonstrated all this flaws, as the Wizards, led by John Wall and Gilbert Arenas, outscored San Antonio 38-12 in the final 12 minutes, including a 20-2 run in a 6-minute lapse; in this lapse, the Spurs didn't make a field goal as Washington posted a 100-81 win. “We didn’t play like a team,” said a visibly frustrated Tony Parker after the game. “We were very selfish. They capitalized on all our miscues. We have to decide whether we’re going to play one-on-one or we’re going to pass the ball to each other and play team ball.”

Washington's Andray Blatche, who was the team's sixth man up to this point, took a place in the starting lineup after his recent great performances and responded with 12 points, 11 rebounds and also tying his career-high of 5 blocks. “Andray really responded today,” Wizards coach Flip Saunders said. Arenas led the Wizards with a game-high 26 points, three boards, three assists and three steals in an all-around performance. The Wizards were 2-20 in games where they were behind entering the last period. “We started the fourth quarter down and we won the game. That's a baby step,” Arenas said. “Hopefully we can start posting more victories like this one.” San Antonio led 77-72 with less than eight minutes left when the Wizards went on the key 20-2 run, to take a 92-79 lead. Wall scored nine points during the spurt, ending the game with 16 points and a career-high 16 assists, fueling even more his running for the Rookie of the Year award. Josh Howard added 11 points and Nick Young eight points in eight minutes for the Wizards, who had 34 assists on 46 field goals and shot 48 percent from the field.

Undoubtedly, part of the problem for the Spurs was Parker's struggles -- Parker shot 5-of-15 from the field but made his way for 16 points, thanks to his charity stripe accuracy. But San Antonio had more problems than merely Parker; the Spurs only made 2-of-13 attempts from downtown, both by Manu Ginobili and both in the first half. Ginobili finished with 15 points, five rebounds and three assists, while DeJuan Blair added 13 points and nine boards. “You have to attack and you have to be in an aggressive mode,” said Spurs coach Gregg Popovich. “We didn’t attack them at all. Even when we were five, six points down, you don’t need a three, you need a basket. We didn’t attack the basket.” Corey Maggette posted 12 points, four rebounds, two steals and two blocks, as Tim Duncan notched in 10 points, thirteen rebounds and six rejections. San Antonio's fourth quarter execution stood there, in stark contrast to the flawless, wind-like offense the Spurs displayed in wins over Sacramento, Detroit and Toronto some games ago. The Spurs know it’s an issue which must be solved if they’re to put their fourth quarter blues behind them once and for all, and the most important thing, it doesn't happen come playoffs time.

Weekly Rewind N° 16 • Big Z calls it a career, last days until deadline, injury report and more...
    nba.com/spurs/morningcoffee | February 13th, 2011

    Image
SAN ANTONIO -- Welcome to the latest installment of my “Morning Coffee” blog, Spurs fanatics. I have some more tidbits here in the table for us to discuss. I'm doing a weekly report with things that happened around the league, including: in my opinion, the most interesting game of the week; signings & waivings; POTW honors; Power Rankings; injury report; All-Star voting and trading rumors. Hope you join the discussion!

Magic's Big 3 overcome Dwight's injury to beat NuggetsRashard Lewis, Vince Carter and Jameer Nelson helped the Orlando Magic exact a measure of revenge in Louisiana. Lewis scored 29 points, Carter collected 22 and 10 rebounds and Nelson posted 21 points and 13 assists as the Magic cruised to a 99-83 triumph over the New Orleans Hornets. The Hornets defeated the Magic in Orlando on January 12, 112-97, with 28 points from Marco Belinelli and 25 points and 16 assists from Chris Paul. “We changed some things to get Rashard and Vince some more looks and Jameer an opportunity to run things more constantly,” Magic coach Stan Van Gundy said. “Everything started on defense; the whole team was aggressive. We ran the ball and Rashard got some huge shots.” Belinelli scored 17 points for New Orleans and Paul was limited to 13; Trevor Ariza led the team with 19 points and six boards.

Big Z calls it a career • After 14 NBA seasons, Miami Heat center Zydrunas Ilgauskas will retire this June, Big Z himself announced on a press conference this morning. “I've had a wonderful career in the NBA that lasted 14 long years,” Ilgauskas said. “I've begun conversations which would keep me in the Heat family in more of a manager role.” Ilgauskas (7'3", 260) has played in 31 games so far with Miami, averaging 6.6 points, 4.9 rebounds and 0.7 blocks, in 19.5 minutes per game. Right now he's on injury list because of a broken jaw he suffered in January. Ilgauskas played the first 13 years of his career with the Cleveland Cavaliers, where he enjoyed the best season of his career in 2004-05, with averages of 16.9 points, 8.6 rebounds and 2.1 blocks in 33.5 minutes per game. “I know the impression that Zydrunas made on our team as a veteran leader, so getting this news today was sad for me,” said head coach Erik Spoelstra. “However, I know that it should be a very proud day for him. He had a tremendous career and he can look back knowing he left everything he had on the court. We must enjoy him this last couple of months.”

Players of the Week • The Los Angeles Lakers' Kobe Bryant and the Miami Heat's LeBron James today were named the Western and Eastern Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played February 6 - 12. Bryant and the Lakers had a 1-2 week -- with a win over New York and hard losses to Memphis and Boston. In the loss to the Grizzlies, Bryant scored 41 points, four rebounds, six assists and five steals. Bryant finished the week with averages of 34.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.6 steals. Miami's James averaged 31.6 points along with 6.6 rebounds and 6.3 assists, as the Heat posted a 3-0 week; James exploded for 40 points, nine rebounds, six assists and three steals in a 107-74 win over Indiana.

Power RankingsBest teams of the week? Orlando (4-0), Miami (3-0), Utah (3-0), Dallas (3-1), New Orleans (3-1), Washington (2-0). The worst? Minnesota (0-4), Cleveland (0-3), Toronto (0-3), LA Clippers (1-3), Charlotte (1-3), Houston (1-2). High jumps -- Washington (+9), Utah (+3), New Orleans (+3), Oklahoma City (+2), Phoenix (+2), Golden State (+2). Free falls -- Chicago (-5), New Jersey (-5), Minnesota (-4), Cleveland (-2), New York (-2), Portland (-2). Check the power rankings (Top 7) here -- the Heat took the 1st spot again, as they are the first team to hit the 40-win milestone.

Injury report • Sorted by injuries with most duration, here you can check the full injury report. New Jersey Nets bigman Troy Murphy said on his Twitter page that he has plantar fasciitis in his left foot but will keep playing. Although Murphy wants to play through the injury, Nets coach Avery Johnson said that might not be possible. “We haven't had any conversation about sitting out with Troy, but if it continues, he may have to sit.” Perhaps the injury with the most impact in a team is Orlando's Dwight Howard. Howard already missed three games because of a torn meniscus and looks like he will miss at least four more contests. He suffered the injury on February 6, in Orlando's 96-87 win at Boston. He flew back to Orlando and had an MRI exam, that showed a tear in the meniscus of his right knee.

Only five days left for trades • There are only five days left until the trade deadline. There are three things which may make it very active: one is the playoff teams and non-playoff teams are fairly well-defined, more than usual. Then there’s the economy and the salary cap will likely be flat to lower; several teams are trying to set up for the 2011 free agent class, which includes players like Carmelo Anthony, Yao Ming, Caron Butler, Zach Randolph, Jeff Green, Aaron Brooks and others. So there will likely be a lot of contractual trades which will not be basketball-related, and contractual deals are generally easier to consummate. Look forward for a special Morning Coffee edition this coming days, with the players most likely to be dealt this Thursday.

I hate both Yao and Yi  Yeah I'll get to 50 wins, but it sucks to lose games like this, there's at least five or six games where I had a double-digit lead and the CPU ended up winning.

A new update tonight...

Nice wrap of the Washington game. I can't believe the Wizards went into NBA Jam mode like that. I guess it's true: the All-Star hangover will get you every time :)

Martin, Lauderdale, Buckeyes win big over Lewis, Bears
Preview | Recap | Game Info | Full Play-by-Play | Boxscores (Baylor :: Ohio State)

OHIO STATE, February 13 -- Ohio State Buckeyes teammates Julian Martin and Dallas Lauderdale were nearly perfect -- the Baylor Bears were far from it. Martin scored 15 of his 24 points in the first half and Lauderdale provided suffocating defense for 8 points, five rebounds and three steals, as the Buckeyes rolled to a 69-44 rout of the Bears. Martin made 11-of-18 shots dominating before halftime, making 6-of-10 shots, including all two of his 3-pointers in consecutive possessions. Martin singlehandedly turned a four-point deficit into a 6-point halftime cushion for Ohio State. “I was just trying to be more aggressive,” Martin said. “That might have deflated them, I'm not going to say that it was the main cause of us winning the game.” Martin also grabbed two rebounds and dished out two assists, and Nikola Kecman added seven points and three rebounds off the bench, all in the second half, as the Buckeyes led by as many as 28 in the fourth quarter and improved to 18-6.

“It was huge for us going into halftime,” Buckeyes head coach Thad Matta said. “Julian carried us in the first half, then other guys came through in the second.” The Bears never recovered from that 4-point lead as Ohio State opened the second half with a 12-2 run sparked by a jumper from David Lighty and a tip-in from center Zisis Sarikopoulos. “Julian hit some big shots and it just boiled over to everybody,” Sarikopoulos said. “If you work on them enough, you're going to make them.” Baylor went 4:30 minutes in the second half without a basket, missing 10 straight shots, before LaceDarius Dunn made a layup with 3:30 left in the third, to pull within 44-22, but they didn't get any closer. Dunn only scored 6 points, shooting 2-of-10 from the field. “They got us a couple of different ways,” Willie Lewis said. “They played like a team, with balanced scoring and teamwork.” Lewis was one of only two Bears scoring in double figures, with 10 points and four assists.
