I could pay a visit at the GM's office to trade some of the other wing players.
Thierry • wrote:Aren't they "stacked" at the wings? I suppose I could get more than 5 mpg if only Johnson and Salmons are there, or one of them gets into foul trouble.

Grading the Deal: Bulls acquire Vujacic from Hornets
February 7th, 2012
It's the month of February. For the fans, it's the month where the annual All-Star weekend festivities are held. For the league and especially management. It's the looming of the ever important trade deadline.
Normally at this point in the season, for contenders like the Chicago Bulls, a move would be unlikely as it risks disrupting locker room chemistry. However, in this instance a move really had to be made.
At the end of January, the Bulls dropped a tight game against the New Jersey Nets thanks to a Devin Harris-led rally in the fourth quarter. While losing occasionally by a few points (85-87) is something that can happen to even the best of teams due to any team's ability to suddenly get hot, this wasn't the case with the Chicago Bulls, as they dropped a second straight game to the Nets only two days later. This time, they got blown out by 21 points (86-107).
The humiliating defeat prompted the Bulls general manager to call an emergency meeting with all the players, and also prompted this move to occur; despite the excellent play in the following two games.
The Chicago Bulls have obtained guard Sasha Vujacic from the New Orleans Hornets in exchange for guard Anthony Morrow, forward Sean Williams as well as the Bulls' 2013 conditional first round pick. (lottery protected)
Morrow, 26, has been averaging 5.1 points and 12 minutes per game over 50 games played thus far in the season. He signed with the Bulls back in the latter half of the 2010-11 season and resigned to a two year, $2.10M deal this past offseason. For the season he's shooting 43% from the field, 42.6% from deep and just under 96% from the free throw line.
Williams (25), on the otherhand, was acquired by Chicago in the offseason alongside the New Jersey Nets' 2013 first round pick in exchange for swingman Evan Turner. In just 8 games played this season, Williams has averages of 0.6 points, 2.9 rebounds and 0.3 blocks in under 7 minutes per game. Drafted by New Jersey with the 17th overall pick back in the 2007 NBA draft, Williams has not lived up to his selection. While his potential was evident, he has had plenty of off-court problems which has impacted on his minutes and on-court performance.
As the third string shooting guard in New Orleans, former Laker Sasha Vujacic (27) has not really been given many opportunities to shine. With 6 rotation guards on the Hornets, playing time has be scarce and locker room chemistry has been affected, even if the Hornets are currently 43-7.
A three time NBA Champion with the LA Lakers, Vujacic signed with the Hornets this past offseason to a three year, $8.77M deal following 7 seasons with Los Angeles, the most recent three being championship seasons. For the season, the Slovenian guard has averages of 4.7 points, 1.7 rebounds, 2 assists and 0.9 steals in just under 17 minutes per game. He has been shooting at a clip of 48% from the field, 47.8% from beyond the arc and 80% from the free throw line thus far.
"With the addition of Sasha, we hope our backcourt depth can be established and enforced by his sharpshooting and defensive abilities." said Bulls GM Leo Lai "We hope that he can bring us more veteran leadership on and off the court and gives us another source of championship experience."
For Chicago, even though they gave up a lot of assets, a veteran guard like Vujacic is valuable to have, and this should improve their backcourt rotation and the defensive abilities of the second unit. Over the 50 games played thus far, the Bulls have been worst defensively in the second quarters, the time when Byron Scott has his main guys taking a rest.
For New Orleans, they still have 3 starting-caliber point guards not named Chris Paul that needs to be dealt with, as well as a disgrunted Drew Gooden. While this moves brings them a same sharpshooter who will not demand as many minutes and an athletic and potential filled big man to play some minutes. They will still need to make more moves before the deadline comes.
The players are expected to make their debuts for their new teams in the second half of the season, following the conclusion of the All Star Weekend.
Grade for the Bulls: B
