Love these types of Dynasties/Associations, retro style. Great job getting the Bulls as the 1 seed.

I love the Bucks' logo :D

I'm suprised the Sixers let a team like the Bucks catch the playoffs before them.

SPURS vs LAKERS matchup

Postby Radioman on Fri Dec 24, 2010 9:25 pm

Image VS Image

One of the most thrilling duells of the first round clashes. The Lakers who won the Championship in 80, 82, 85, 87 and 88, made the Finals 9 times in 11 years.

The regular season went off very average for both teams. The Lakers came in as 4th of the conference placed behind the Jazz Rockets and Suns. The Spurs made the fifth place, 3 spots behind their last years position. Nonetheless both teams are favourites for the 1992 Finals, a small comparison between both teams show up some strengths and weaknesses.

Center

Image VS Image

David Robinson / San Antionio
7 ' 1 ft
235 lb
Age: 26

Even he just played his third NBA season he turned out as one of the best Centers in the league. Elected to 1991/1992 MVP underlines this estimate. He was the top scorer , best rebounder and shot blocker of the Spurs this season.

91/92 stats:
26.0ppg 12.5rpg 3.9apg 1.50spg 2.57bpg SEASON MVP

Vlade Divac / Los Angeles
7 ' 1 ft
260 lb
Age: 24

Divac is the same draft year as Robinson, he turned to a important player in the Lakers defense. Despite he played a solid season his deeds can't come close to Robinsons.

91/92 stats:
10.9ppg 8.3rpg 4.1apg 1.49spg 1.47bpg

Center Position:
Spurs: ++
Lakers: +

Power Forward:

Image VS Image

Terry Cummings / San Antonio
6 ' 9 ft
235 lb
Age: 31

Cummings the routined hard worker beside Robinson. He was drafted in 1982 by the Clippers as a 2nd overall pick behind James Worthy  . He was the Rookie of the Year in 82/83 but his performances stagnated a little and he couldnt come close to his rookie year anymore.

Some users may still remind him as he entered the Slam Dunk contest in 1992.

91/92 stats:
16.3ppg 10.5rpg 2.2apg 1.26spg 0.79bpg

AC Green / Los Angeles
6 ' 9 ft
225 lb
Age: 28

Maybe he plays a similar role in the Lakers team as Cummings for the Spurs. He was included to the Lakers team in 1985 and won to titles with them in 87 and 88.
I cant see a real advantage on this position for one of the teams. If i take the season stats Cummings seem to have a small step ahead.

91/92 stats:
8.0ppg 7.4rpg 1.9apg 1.10spg 0.94bpg

Power Forward Position:
Spurs: +
Lakers: 0

Small Forward:

Image VS Image

Sean Elliott / San Antonio
6 ' 8 ft
215 lb
Age: 24

Elliott is an important offensive force and three point shooter for the Spurs. In his third season he also did a solid defensive performance and turned out to one of the key players in San Antonios roster.

91/92 stats:
15.2ppg 6.7rpg 5.5apg 1.62spg 0.90bpg

James Worthy / Los Angeles
6 ' 9 ft
225 lb
Age: 31

One of the legendary members of the mid 80's Lakers Championship team. A tremendous offensive force "Big Game James" 3 time NBA Champion. In his 10th season he was elected to All Star Starter one more time and also did his part in the Lakers team with 19.0 points 7.7 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game.

91/92 stats:
19.0ppg 7.7rpg 5.2apg 1.57spg 0.83bpg

Small Forward position:
Spurs: 0
Lakers: ++

Shooting Guard:

Image VS Image

Willie Anderson / San Antonio
6 ' 7 ft
190 lb
Age: 25

Anderson the Shooting Guard , is maybe a little weak point compared to Byron Scott on the Lakers side. He was elected into All Rookie 1st team in 1989 but couldnt come up with solid stats in this season.

91/92 stats:
5.9ppg 3.3rpg 5.6apg 1.15spg 0.51bpg

Byron Scott / Los Angeles
6 ' 4 ft
195 lb
Age: 31

Scott is another part of the mid 80' s Lakers Champion team he established on the Shooting Guard position and turned out to be a real threatt from the 3 point line.
Despite his great career he played the first time in an All Star Team this season. As a 6th man behind Drexler he made 13 points.

91/92 stats:
14.6ppg 3.8rpg 5.0apg 1.52spg 0.50bpg

Shooting Guard position:
Spurs: -
Lakers: +

Point Guard:

Image VS Image

Rod Strickland / San Antonio
6 ' 3 ft
175 lb
Age: 25

Strickland the playmaker of the Spurs had a bad year in 90/91 because of an injury disease. He came back with a solid performance in 1992, he leads the Spurs in assists and steals.
Despite Strickland is a talented player on his position he wont be able to handle the mismatch to Magic Johnson.

91/92 stats:
13.1ppg 2.9rpg 6.8apg 1.57spg 0.40bpg

Earvin Magic Johnson / Lakers
6 ' 9 ft
255 lb
Age: 32

One of the greatest in NBA history. 5 time NBA Champion with the Lakers, 12 time All Star and 3 time MVP, just to list up some facts. In his 13th season he once again led the Lakers to the playoffs with solid stats and performances. Loosing to the Bulls in the last years finals should be forgotten after this years post season. Magic Johnson is ready to win another title.

91/92 stats:
19.0ppg 5.2rpg 6.5apg 1.48spg 0.24bpg

Point Guard position:
Spurs: -
Lakers: ++

Overall:

The Lakers are the favourite in this match, they have a deficit in the paint but they compensate that on their fast Guards and tremendous offensive.

The Bulls took the lead in the series with a comfortable win against the Bucks. Jordan did an impressive performance with 41 points.
The Bucks could resist against the Bulls for a long time. At the half Milwaukee even led with 5 points. One reason for that was the nice three point gain from the Bucks guards. Humphries scored 21 of his 27 points in the first half.

Lets take out them brooms because the Bucks are about to get swept! I am certainly surprised though that the Sonics allowed themselves to be dismantled by the Jazz so easily. It looks like they might even go all the way.

Yes poor performance by the Sonics. I never liked that Stockalone team very much , i also preferred to see Seattle in the next round.

I am a little concerned about the Trailblazers, the real finalist of 1992 with the back against the wall.

Bad news for Indiana, the dominating team of the first reg. season half is about to get kicked by the Pistons.

Bucks with the comeback.

Most people expected a 3-0 series from the Bulls against the Bucks, but Milwaukee could at least win Game 3. It was Jay Humphries and the experienced <Buck> Williams  who led Milwaukee to a surprising superior 20 points win against the Bulls.

Moses Malone has still a slightly spark of hope advancing to the next round. The 37 year old Center from the Bucks hasnt decided yet if he adds another season to his great career.

The odds-on team advances to next round.

Struggeling in Game 3 the Bulls finally managed to get over the Bucks with an 111-100 win.

Milwaukee should not be disappointed at all, they made a good regular season leaving teams like the Celtics and Atlanta behind them. Maybe they can get some fresh blood for the next period and become a more determining team in the future.

For the Bulls the next opponent will be either the Pacers or the Pistons. Both teams are really uncomfortable challengers. The Pacers beat the Bulls 2 times in the regular season, the Pistons were always one of the main rivals.

Miller or the Bad Boys, whoever, it will be much more challenging than the Milwaukee Bucks.

Patrick Ewing 32.0ppg and 12.5rpg.

Brad Daugherty 29ppg and 14.3rpg.

I would like to see more scores too, but game doesnt show me.

As i did this dynasty i got back into basketball video games.

Unfortunataly that led to Santa sending me 2K11, i am going to keep up the thread but i think it will be more simulation and going on a little slower than before.

damn 2k11 really got me at the moment, got drafted by the Magic and playing as the 2nd Center behind Dwight Howard. We lost against the Heat with 30... Lebron triple double...

But dont worry this Dynasty will go on...

Results of Round 1 Game IV

West:

Phoenix Suns @ Golden State - 99 : 86 > Phoenix to the next round against : ...

Los Angeles Lakers @ San Antonio Spurs - 92 : 94 OT > the Spurs tie the series just in overtime 2:2

Houston Rockets @ Portland Trailblazers - 91 : 76 > 3:1

East:

Indiana Pacers @ Detroit Pistons - 108 : 102 > Indiana ties 2:2

Miami Heat @ New York Knicks - 92 : 91 > Steve Smith and the Miami Heat smashes Ewings Championship dreams 3:1

New Jersey Nets @ Cleveland Cavaliers 96 : 94 - > the young guns from New Jersey kicking out Nances Cavs , Drazen Petrovic did 27ppg against the Cavs 3:1

Good bye Golden State
Tyrone Hill, Billy Owens , Chris Mullin, Marciliuonis , Tim Hardaway
They did a great job making the Playoffs in a tightly contested Western Conference. They are still young maybe their time will come in the next years if this team stays together.

Portland breaks down against "The Dream"
Maybe the best Portland team i have known, i really like them with Drexler, Kersey and Porter. I hope they can emphasize to the next season to resist against the other strong teams in the west.

Knicks fail on the Heat
Very surprising to me and also a little disappointing, i was looking forward to a great Conference Final between Chicago and NY (N)
They have such a great team, if you asked me before this i would have put them on the top spots in this league.

The Nets, scary Nets
The Nets , the team of the season for me. They made seed two in the East and now they kicked out a experienced All Star proofed team. Now i think they can also beat the Heat and face either the Bulls, Pacers or the Pistons in the CF.
However Heat or Nets, both are not the teams i expected to the Conference Finals.

Now there is still a tiebreaker between:

San Antonio Spurs @ Los Angeles Lakers 2:2

and

Detroit Pistons @ Indiana Pacers 2:2
