Boozer To Miss 2-4 Weeks With Separated Shoulder
January 8th 2012
Bulls power forward Carlos Boozer will be out for 2 to 4 weeks due to a separated shoulder
suffered in the Bulls 91-83 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves earlier this evening, the team
announced.
Boozer suffered the injury just three minutes into the game in an attempt to save the ball from
going out of bounds, while he did keep the ball in play, his momentum caused him to crash into
and over the scorers table. Following the collusion Boozer's arm was bent in an awkward way and
team doctors immediately rushed to his aid. He was helped off the floor and did not return.
"It's tough. Obviously, I'm disappointed. I feel bad about it, but we got guys who can play,
man. Guys will be able to step up and play." Boozer said "I'm going to be there supporting
them, I'll be their biggest cheerleader and sideline coach. And I'll be busting my butt trying
to get back and healthy and attacking my rehab trying to get right."
The injury is a tough blow to the Central Division Leading Bulls, who also hold the third seed
in the Eastern Conference. On a more personal level for Boozer, this injury could cost him
a spot on this year's All-Star team.
A three time All-Star, Boozer is second in the East All-Star Ballot for Power Forwards with
754,825 votes thus far.
For the Season, Boozer is averaging 16.1 points and 8.5 rebounds in just under 29 minutes
per game.

Turner scores career high 38 in return, but Bulls get the win
Turner got his revenge on Deng, but couldn't get the win for his ball club
Chicago, IL - If it wasn't for Derrick Rose, it would've been a perfect night for the Nets' sophomore swingman Evan Turner.
In his first return to the United Center, against the team that had drafted him in the previous season's NBA Draft with the third overall pick and subsequently traded him after his rookie season. Evan Turner showed the Bulls exactly what they traded away.
Scoring a career high 38 points on 16 for 29 shooting in 27 minutes, Turner had his revenge on Bulls forward Luol Deng, who was the main perpetrator to Turner's departure from Chicago.
"It's frustrating how they just dumped me like that after one season" said Turner "Deng is an [expletive] and they kept him instead of me. I took it personal."
However, despite his big night offensively, the New Jersey Nets could not stop Bulls superstar Derrick Rose as he racked up 32 points, 4 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the Bulls to a 108-103 victory.
Joakim Noah notched a double double with 15 points and 12 rebounds, and also had 4 blocked shots while Taj Gibson added 8 points, 4 rebounds and also 4 blocks as he started in-place of the injured Carlos Boozer.
Kirk Hinrich dropped in 8 points and 6 assists while Luol Deng had just 8 points.
The Bulls bench was also big on the night, with the absence of Boozer, the bench clearly stepped up their game. Led by Kyle Korver's 17 points and 6 rebounds, and Shaquille O'Neal's 10 points and 10 rebounds; the Bulls bench outscored the Nets bench 37 to 21.
For New Jersey, Devin Harris led the game in assists with 13 dimes alongside his 17 points while center Brook Lopez racked up 10 points and 10 rebounds, but no other Net was able to score in double figures and the Bulls pulled away late in the game for the five point victory.
Chicago now boasts a 24-13 record, good enough for the second seed in the Eastern Conference while the Nets remain in 9th place with a record of 19-20.
Notes: Turner had a brief standing ovation from the crowd during intros....Bulls' Luol Deng and Nets' Evan Turner were issued with a double technical in the second quarter....Victoria's Secret Angel Marisa Miller was amongst the sold-out crowd....

Rose's late jumper gives Bulls narrow win over Spurs
D-Rose knocks down the shot and wins the game for Chicago
Chicago, IL - With each passing game, Derrick Rose is making his case for league MVP better and better.
Rose sank the go-ahead basket with 7.1 seconds left, and the Bulls held on for a 93-92 victory over the San Antonio Spurs as Tony Parker's 18 foot jump shot attempt bounced harmlessly off the rim at the buzzer.
Derrick Rose led the way for Chicago with a game-high 30 points and 9 assists while Joakim Noah chipped in 13 points, 13 rebounds and 5 blocks. Luol Deng added 15 points while Kirk Hinrich had 8 points and 6 assists.
Shaquille O'Neal continued to make the most of the increased minutes due to the injury to Carlos Boozer and dropped in 12 points and 6 rebounds while Boozer's replacement at the starting four spot Taj Gibson had 10 rebounds along with 5 points.
San Antonio, on the otherhand, was led by an offensive explosion from swingman JR Smith, who tied Derrick Rose with 30 points of his own as the game's top scorer. Smith was 5 for 10 from beyond the arc and looked unstoppable for the Bulls' defense throughout the game.
Tony Parker dropped in 14 points and had 7 dimes, but was clearly outplayed by the Bulls' rising star point guard while Tim Duncan had a solid double double of 12 points and 10 rebounds.
One bright spot for the Spurs could be the continued development of rookie center Octavius Ocho, who is starting in place of the injured Greg Oden. Ocho had 9 points, 12 rebounds and 2 blocks in 32 minutes of play and was able to put up a good fight against Chicago's Joakim Noah.
"He's got potential to become very, very good" said Gregg Popovich "Especially on the defensive end, that's where he thrives in"
Chicago has now won four straight games and remain as the second seed in the Eastern Conference at 27-13 while the Spurs stay at sixth in the Western Conference Standings with a record of 22-17.

Boozer Practices, Will Make Return on Friday
January 26th, 2012
Bulls forward Carlos Boozer participated in the team's morning shoot-around on
Wednesday and was involved in full contact drills and scrimmages in practice earlier today,
his first practices since being sidelined with a separated shoulder back on January 8th,
almost four weeks ago.
He will be suiting back up in the Bulls home game against the Los Angeles Clippers on
Friday night.
"It's great to be back on the court," Boozer said "They have done a tremendous job while
I was out and I hope we can continue that kind of play now that I'm back"
In the 10 games since Boozer's injury, the Bulls have gone 8-2, including a 7 game winning
streak. They currently boast a record of 31-14 and are second place in the Eastern
Conference Standings behind the Orlando Magic.
The play of the Bulls big men have been elevated since the 6-9 forward from Duke went
down, most notably Joakim Noah, who had averages of 15.9 points, 13.7 rebounds and
3.2 blocks over that 10 game span, including a career high 21 points along with 20
rebounds in Chicago's 114-82 blow out win over the Philadelphia 76ers yesterday night.

Paul, Hornets agree on six year extension
January 27th, 2012
The New Orleans Hornets agreed to a contract extension with
guard Chris Paul that will keep the MVP candidate with the team for the
next six years.
The Hornets will pay Paul the maximum allowable under the NBA's collective
bargaining agreement, starting at 25 percent of the salary cap for the first
year of the extension, with 10 percent raises thereafter.
In other-words, it is a max extension worth approximately $125M over the
six year period.
Paul, 26, has averaged 21.6 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 10.6 assists along
with 2.6 steals this season so far as his Hornets are leading the league
with a record of 39-6.Williams, Jazz agree to max extension
January 30th, 2012
The Utah Jazz has come to terms with All-Star point guard
Deron Williams with regards to a maximum, six year contract extension.
The deal is presumebly exactly the same as the one fellow draft class
point guard Chris Paul of the New Orleans Hornets had signed a few
days ago, a max extension worth approximately $125M over the
six year period.
This move comes as a surprise as although Williams' play is as excellent
as usual, with averages of 23.5 points, 5.2 rebounds and 7.0 assists per
game, the Jazz have struggled ever since Jerry Sloan left via retirement.
Utah is just 19-30 for the season and are 12th in the Western Conference.O'Neal Done For Season With Torn ACL
January 31st, 2012
Miami Heat center Jermaine O'Neal will miss the remainder
of the season with a torn ACL in his left knee.
Heat president Pat Riley announced earlier this evening that an MRI
exam on O'Neal's knee revealed the torn ligament.
O'Neal suffered the injury on Miami's 100-106 defeat at the hands of
the Detroit Pistons yesterday night, he went down following a rebound
two minutes into the game holding onto his knee and had to be helped
off the floor.
For the season, O'Neal has been averaging 12.5 points, 8.3 rebounds
and 1.6 blocks for the 27-20 Miami Heat, who are currently fifth in
the Eastern Conference.
Surgery to repair the injury has not been scheduled.
