Re: Ariza Builds a Brick House [50-8]

17 to go! I'm expecting some huge nights from Martin to try and capture the scoring title while keeping the streak going.

Nice 3 wins there!!
Your team is forming a great run here!
And Yao is just great on those games (Y)

Hopefully he can be your leader along with Martin

man, wasn't too long ago Ariza was the flavor of NLSC and on every fanboy's crash n' burn dynasty; now he's a "cancer patient?" :o daaang KG... that's just wrong

i like how Lowry (?) cheapshot Rondo with a chop to the neck  hopefully the refs didn't catch it

17 to go? Wow, you say it like it's a sure thing. If the 22-game win streak can't be reached, then hopefully the scoring title for Martin will be there. (Y)

Thanks, Badger. :)

Yao may need to step up his scoring, but Scola and AB have made up for his lack of scoring, so that's a good thing. (Y)

No doubt, it's obvious from the thread title. In all seriousness though, watching him shoot bricks just made me glad I traded him away.

Yes, Ariza is a team cancer, just like Monta Ellis was last season. The "cancer patient" came from the RL trash talk between KG and Charlie V, thought I'd add KG's personality.

Yes, it is Lowry who took a cheapshot to Rondo, I guess he didn't like the fact that he has a jumpshot now.

yeah i know about the RL KG/Charlie V reference, though either Charlie V is a puss or KG said exactly what CV said he said during the heat of the moment and had good PR people help him cover his foot-in-mouth incident; i could see either case being true
Gente latina, FTW!!!

man, i swear that said, "Genitalia FTW!!" i've gotta get my eyes checked out

Martti., definitely, like Andrew said, 17 to go.

Clutch, I think KG just needs to shut up, and play basketball. I'd recommend getting your eyes checked though.

Do You Believe In Magic? [51-9]

Fri Nov 19, 2010 1:16 pm

2-Game Recap

[50-8] Houston Rockets 85-91 Orlando Magic [29-28]

Image
Behind Vince Carter's huge game, the Magic overpowered the Rockets.

I believe in Magic. Jameer Nelson is out with a hyper-extended knee, Mickael Pietrus was the starting point guard, and Dwight Howard in foul trouble. Yet, the Magic still managed to win? Now that's magic right there. The whole game, the Magic were playing catch-up basketball, and wouldn't gain their first lead until the third quarter. And in the fourth quarter, the Magic would catch fire, and the Rockets went cold. Despite a big effort from Yao Ming on the boards, the Rockets fell short.

"It's a huge accomplishment to hold this team to less than 90 points, and still win the game," said Dwight Howard, who spent over half the game in foul trouble. "It's a tough setback, knowing that we had all the advantages, and yet we still couldn't capitalize on them," Shane Battier said on the subject.

[50-9] Houston Rockets 106-96 San Antonio Spurs [23-36]

Image
Yao to Blair: "If it's not sushi, get it out of here."

The score says the Rockets won by 10. Actually, it felt as if the Rockets won by 20. Both teams were shooting over 50% throughout the whole game, but the Rockets just had more firepower, shooting over 60% in the first half. The Spurs lacked three key players: Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, and Antonio McDyess. They are all injured, which explains San Antonio's 4 (now 5) game-skid. Despite that, George Hill (21), Richard Jefferson (25), and Tim Duncan (19) still put up excellent performances. Yao picked up two quick fouls in the first 30 seconds of the game, which lowered his numbers this game (8 points and 8 boards). Kevin Martin stepped it up though, he had a 23-point first half, and finished with 35 points.

The Spurs lit it up in the fourth quarter though, going 4/5 from downtown, which explains why the margin of victory looks respectable. "We silenced the haters this game I bet. This win makes a statement that we can, in fact, take advantage of what the other team lacks, and in this case, it was three key players," Kevin Martin said after the game.

You should have won the Orlando game. :shake: missed opportunities. If Orlando has to go Pietrus to start at the point, Nelson out altogether, and Dwight has foul trouble, that really should have been easy.

AI looks nice in a Magic jersey, lol.

Nice to see George Hill stepping up, but it sucks to see the Spurs with that record. Hopefully TP, Manu, Dice can come back soon...

Wrong nationality. :P

22 games left in the season. Win every game the rest of the way and you can set a new franchise best with 23 in a row. ;)

VC was lighting up the scoreboard, and Dwight Howard came back in the fourth and took control over the boards. :(

I think Manu is coming back in a week or so. Don't know about TP or Antonio though.

2-Game Recap

[51-9] Houston Rockets 103-105 Denver Nuggets [31-28]

Before I go any further, watch these highlights from our team!

Yao Ming rejects Chauncey Billups in the paint.
phpBB [video]

Kevin Martin shows his athleticism on the fastbreak.

Image
Chauncey Billups' penetration throughout the whole game frustrated the Rockets defense, he had 25 points.

The Rockets showed atrocious defense in this game. They were allowing Chauncey Billups to get to the rim at will, and not closing out on any shooters. Despite the poor defense, this game came down to the wire. The Rockets lost control of the game in the fourth quarter. Kevin Martin sparked a huge run, and as mentioned before, is making a big push for the scoring title.

After a bucket by the Nuggets, the Rockets called a timeout with less than a minute left in the game. Kevin Martin knocked down a three-pointer, bringing the Rockets within one point. Chauncey Billups was fouled, and sent to the line. He surprisingly split the pair of free throws, and the score was 103-101. After a timeout, Kevin Martin called for a screen, drove the lane, and posterized Nene, to tie the game at 103. With 7.7 seconds left, the ball was put in Carmelo Anthony's hand, and this is how it all went:
phpBB [video]

"Huge blow here. After working so hard to score 42, and being close to bail out my team's lack of good offensive performance, all that work was wasted. The Nuggets just played better than us," said a disappointed Kevin Martin after the game. "This has to be the biggest shot I've made all season, it feels very good to beat the defending champions," said Carmelo Anthony.

Melo didn't really stick out the whole game, but the spotlight was ensured with the game-winner.

[51-10] Houston Rockets 104-96 Portland TrailBlazers [34-27]

Image
A Rudy Gay dunkfest made up for Brandon Roy's 11 points.

The Rockets got off to a horrendous start in this game. They turned things around in the second quarter though. The second half was when things really got interesting, but with tough defense, the Rockets were able to get their first win of the long upcoming roadtrip ahead. "It's our last roadtrip, and then we close out the season at home. Can't wait when that happens," said Donte Greene, who provided six points off the bench, all in the second quarter.
