David Lee breached the rare 20/20 barrier in a stunning and spectacular upset over the World Champion Los Angeles Lakers… Lee's 10 offensive rebounds topped LA's entire team tally on the offensive glass… surprise rookie Ayana Edney continued to impress dropping 25 pts leading the Warriors bench to outscore LA's reserves 61-24… Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol combined for 51 pts in a losing effort, or as Mamba would state after the match, "lack of effort."

Image

Stephen Curry's team-high 33 pts was not enough to weather a powerful front court assault led by Memphis forwards Zach Randolph and Rudy Gay… the duo annihilated to the tune of 58 pts, 19 of which came from trips to the FT stripe… 32nd overall pick, Chris Leschyshyn, filled in at Grizzlies' off-guard position for 3rd overall, Levar Wiles, who sat with mild injuries

Image

The Warriors rallied from an abysmal third quarter to squeak by the Chicago Bulls on a clutch Biedrins free throw in the final seconds… fouled on a rebound with 2.9 seconds and the score knotted 123-123, Biedrins airballed his first attempt but came through with the go-ahead bucket and finished with 23 pts, 9 reb and 6 blks… Mike Miller would have a final attempt for Chicago fall short but still finished with a team-high 24 pts… Mayo continued his strong play with 27 pts while Curry added 24 pts, 6 ast

Impressive win over the Lakers and a nice comeback against the Bulls, shame about the fourth quarter of the Memphis game though. Good to see you with a winning record.

5 teams from the East on top of the standings, that truly is the tougher Conference now. :o

Great wins over the Lakers and Bulls, tough loss against Z-Bo.

Congrats on blowing out the Lakers. Slow start to the season for them. Really hope Charlotte and/or Detroit manages to break New Jersey's futility record!

I see that the Grizzlies still have your number. :) Not a bad start to the season, but there's definitely still some room for improvement.

Thierry - Mayo's been generally good for 20+ pts, a couple reb and asts which is pretty much what VC was doing for us last season only at 10+ years older; gonna focus training on Mayo's D and make OJ the ballhawk that Vincrampity could never be, so I'm liking the switch ;)

Andrew - thx and yeah MEM's front court just had their way w/Biens and Lee; wasn't expecting that after Lee's domination over Gasol & co.;

Martti - Beasts of the East are back! For now at least; things sometimes change on a dime in Live06;

Hyperize - yeah, I forgot that was Mayo's first trip back since the trade; probably would've focused more about that in the game quick-cap but we lost and he didn't do much so it didn't matter; he led the team in assists though so I guess the rowdy crowd got to him and made him pass a lot :D

Lamrock - thx man; I'm surprised to see DET and CHA where they're at but I'm sure they'll climb out of it, I think? Actually, reminds me of a question I had for…

:?: Andrew, I've been running 'primacy fix' at the top of each week to acct for injuries and returning players - Is this too much? is the fix supposed to be only a one time thing? Just curious, since the records for DET and CHA seemed excessive (although both did have major injury probs with starters missing from what i see)

Awesome win against the Fakers!!! (B) Good to see Biedrins' first airball didn't flatten his confidence to come through with the clutch second free throw attempt. (Y)

No, you're best to run it consistently as primacy recalculations will occur throughout the season when injuries and transactions take place.

You're welcome. I'd agree that weekly is a good schedule for it, particularly with injuries.

Will Wallace Spell 'Repeat' For the Gold & Purple?

Wallace Crashes The Party In Tinseltown

November 18, 2012 Los Angeles, CA (AP) -- Well, Mitch? That didn't take long.

In only the fourth week into the 2012-13 NBA season, Lakers' GM Mitch Kupchak made a bold adjustment to the team's lineup acquiring high-energy defensive stopper Gerald "Crash" Wallace from the pitifully struggling Charlotte Bobcats.

"We may have been too hasty in some of our off-season decisions," admitted Kupchak to the press on Sunday. "Luckily the Bobcats were willing to part with such a tremendous player as Gerald but, well, they're really in no position to negotiate are they?" said a smiling Kupchak of the Bobcats organization who currently own the league's worst record at 0-11. Wallace was also grinning ear-to-ear once hearing of the trade and added, "The Lakers didn't acquire me; they rescued me."

The deal to obtain Wallace sent the expiring-contracts of forward Luke Walton and recently acquired guard Maurice Williams, plus budding center Desie Novak and their 2013 1st-round pick to Charlotte.

Bobcat's owner Michael Jordan also addressed the media regarding the trade, "I think we made the right decision bringing in some fresh faces as well as putting us in a good position to improve in next year's draft. Gerald's been a fan favorite here but things just aren't working out and it was time to part ways. We wish him well."

Kobe Bryant, whose Lakers are currently 6-6 on the season, was optimistic and took the opportunity to slight former Laker and last year's Finals MVP Ron Artest, "Gerald's going to be a great addition to our team, especially on the defensive end. I battled him many times and it'll be nice to have him on our side for a change. He's easily one of the top defenders in the league… far superior to our previous defensive guru."

Artest, now with LeBron James' Cavaliers, told reporters, "Kobe? Just suck my <expletive>."

Wallace joins the world champions currently averaging 11 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and blocks a piece this season and will make his debut in a Lakers uniform on Wednesday the 21st in Minnesota, as Los Angeles faces #2 draft pick Yazid Porter and the Timberwolves.

EDIT: My bad... previously listed Porter as the #1 overall pick when in fact he went #2 to Detroit's Rex Sorenson taken #1 overall

Great move for the Lakers and Wallace, or so it would seem. Not so great for the Bobcats, at least until they can do something with the cap space and/or develop Novak.

Jesse Eldridge returns to PG for LA. He's been pretty much their starting point for a few seasons now and his 10.6 pts, 4.6 ast, 3.5 reb, 1.04 stl in last years Finals was enough to help capture the championship;

yeah, seemed a good move for both considering LA wants to stay on top and the 'Cats are just horrible going nowhere fast... if i remember correct, Dwight Howard's in the final year of his contract and could potentially be the biggest FA on the market so maybe MJ's positioning to make a run on him..?

thx Bot! :lol:

yeah, i knew that trade would sit well Laker fans but not 'Cats fans; actually though, considering the list of free agents is potentially the biggest since 2010? i think MJ did a great job freeing up cap space to give them a legit chance of luring an impact player (or two or three); their current 0-11 record has CHA lotto bound probably pretty high by the end of the season (unless Luke Walton steps up his game to LeBron levels lol); and they have LAs 1st-rd as insurance so i think they made out well; then again, that's only IF these potential stars test the FA market and elect to sign with CHA. if not, MJ might've blundered... we'll see ;)

anyway, thx for the comments guys; just have a homestand v. OKC then i can post the next week... probably sometime this weekend (if not later today)

I'm pretty sure Nowitzki and Duncan explore free agency, they usually do, while younger players don't.
