Monta Ellis on the Rockets? No, no, I don't like the sound of that. Unexpected trade by the Lakers too, but I liked the backstory. (Y)

The Laker-Cavs trade was imo really dumb. If the trade forces you to start Adam Morrison then we have some problems.

I won't be surprised if Morrison leads LA in scoring next year in this, Live 06's sim engine can do wonders some times. :D

Might be the Thunder's year...providing the Warriors don't have a Cinderella season. ;)

Makesie - OKC's huge add was signing Nene and re-signing Green & Westbrook this off-season after missing the playoffs last year; will be interesting if he's the anchor piece needed to take their game to ultimate level;

Oskar - thx man; yeah we're a player or two thinner than I'd like to be but we still have 2-3 Mil to spare and will likely sign another FA reserve at some point;

KD#35 - seems OKC's getting the early consensus vote so far;

Axel - dooood! Monta/K-Mart trade happened waaay back on like my first or second post! (course neither is with the team now but that's not the point lol); the Lakers? Yeah unexpected but when Mamba snaps his fingers, things happen!

Megarover - Live06 hardly does any CPU trades so when I saw this one go down, I was stoked! usually it's like none or one every 2-3 seasons (though i think i remember reading later version of Live really screwed this up with opposite results ie., too many trades);

Ax, Martti - I've a feeling "Simply Stachetacular!" may become a popular catch phrase in so cal this season;

Andrew - Thunder's definitely advantaged but don't count us out yet!

z02 - all you need to say is,

Spurs rally off a 42-28 4th-quarter to spoil the Warriors season/home opener capped by a deep Ginobili trey with less than 2 seconds on the clock… Duncan led San Antonio with 28 pts, 12 reb… Biedrins turned in a terrific night with 23 pts, 12 reb and 4 blk as the Warriors starting Center… newcomers O.J. Mayo debuted with 20 pts, 3 ast; David Lee with 14 pts, 8 reb; Rudy Fernandez with 6 pts, 3 stl; Chuck Warren with 6 pts, 3 reb and rookie Ayana Edney with 10 pts, 2 ast.

Image

The Warriors could not keep pace with New Jersey's up-tempo attack trailing by 10 after the 1st-quarter, by 15 by halftime… they closed the gap during the third but the Nets pulled away in the fourth behind Harris who led the Nets with 20 pts, 5 ast… former Warrior Joakim Noah didn't hoist a single shot attempt but did manage to clear 4 reb… Mayo had a huge night in only his second game with Golden State, a game-high 27 pts, 5 stl.

Image

The Warriors nab their first win of the season at home outscoring the Nuggets 70-51 in the second half… David Lee had his best game so far in a Warriors uniform with 20pts, 12 reb, 2 stl… rookie Ayana Edney notched 21 pts on 6-11 from the field, 9-9 from the free-throw line… J.R. Smith led Denver with 28 pts on 12-17 from the field

Image

The Thunder dominate the glass pulling away in the fourth behind Kevin Durant's game-high 37 pts… Azubuike led Golden State with 20 pts while Lee, Mayo and Curry tally 18 a piece… Warriors Chuck Warren is injured hyper-extending an index finger while battling for a loose ball… the sprained finger will sideline Warren approx. 4 weeks

With no love lost between Biedrins and Noah, the refs keep a watchful eye | 'Buike looks on as Mayo smashes one home

All too easy for the Durantula… final damage? 37 pts, 5 reb, 4 ast, 2 stl

Rookie Ayana Edney's been a welcome surprise… here he is breaking D-Wade's ankles!

Season Record: 1-3

Well, opening week is done and in the books and while our 1-3 record doesn't reflect it, I think we're on the right track and destined for good things as long as we continue to work hard.

We lost our season opener to San Antonio then lost again on the road in New Jersey which I actually think was a good thing. After the wild off-season we had, the loss of Carter, Randolph, Noah, Maverick, the additions of O.J., Rudy and the other new players, I think the team was too excited and a little ahead of themselves about getting a fresh start. Of course it's good being enthusiastic, but those two early losses brought them back to the reality that this is a long, tough season ahead and they've got to stay focused and hungry from game-to-game if we're going to be successful.

All n' all though, I think the chemistry's starting to form and guys are adjusting to their roles. Biedrins and Lee have clicked well, evident by Andris playing some of his best basketball in years. Lee's really making all the Warrior brass smile about the decision to pursue and acquire him from the Cavaliers. Even I'm a little surprised at how consistent he's been for us so far; he's not flashy, there's no showboating, he just gets the job done.

We lost new forward Chuck Warren to injury this week which is unfortunate. From what little I've seen he's still plenty raw but makes up for average physical skills with an extremely high basketball I.Q. He just has great instincts and feel for the game. I'm looking forward to his development once he returns, but that won't be for at least a month yet.

So far I think I'm most surprised with rookie Ayana Edney. While we were working with Cleveland to acquire Lee, I really pushed that Edney be included in the trade package because I think this kid will be special. I think his skills are on par with his father's during his prime playing days if not better already. He's also showing the floor leadership I need at the point whenever Steph's taking a breather.

I tested Ayana During our win over the Nuggets. Left him in during the final minutes to close the match with the game's outcome still in the balance, and the kid delivered. Kept his poise, made the good pass, knocked down clutch free throws (7-of-8 in the final minutes if I remember correct.) Curry shot me a slight grin and nod of approval as the rook confidently iced the win while he watched; Steph knew what I was up to. He'd been put through similar during his rookie year under coach Nellie to earn his wings.

Anyway, signing off for now. Going to try an steal 30 mins sleep before our plane touches down in Cleveland. It'll be busy from there as we get ready for tonight's match against LeBron and the new-look Cavaliers. Lee's first game back since the trade; I'm curious to see how he'll respond.

Rudy Fernandez, OJ Mayo, and David Lee are great...but losing Joakim Noah and getting Andersen "The Flop" Varejao? :shake:
and damn, you have my man Noah to the city that he hates the most...i mean "who goes to Cleveland on vacation?"

Feel for Joakim right now, lucky this won't ever happen in real life :scold:

newc - i really wish RL Biedrins would play consistently more like his 'virtual' counterpart ;)

valor - if you think Noah will be a Bull his entire career in this day & age? you're smokin' crack lol; actually i kinda like Varejao for comedy relief if anything but it didn't work out as he was a major piece needed to acquire Lee;

thierry - VC who? :lol:

Andrew - things started to click in week 2 (as you're about to see)

Well, I certainly hope that he, and Rose will go against the trend (which i think is horrible) and stay as a Bull for life. Given that they remain successful (and I don't see why not), I'd say Rose and Noah are not going anywhere (Hell, they refused to trade Noah for Melo, which JVG and Mark Jackson bashed them over about it during the opening game against the Thunder) (Y)

Really high scoring games you have right there, definitely GSW. The loss to Jersey sucked, too, the Nets scoring 120 on an NBA team is rather eyepopping, although it's not the real Nets team. :p Hope you can pick it up for a better record.

WEEK 2: November 4 - 10, 2012

Image
Shift+Click individual game tabs for Box Scores

Image

Golden State stormed out of the gate on a 12-0 run and never looked back… the margin ballooned to 18 pts led by OJ Mayo who scored 22 in the first half… LeBron James tried to orchestrate a come from behind victory whittling the lead to as few as 6, but solid free throw shooting by the Warriors kept Cleveland at bay… Mayo finished with a game-high 27 pts while 4 Cavaliers (James, Faust, Hinrich, Artest) scored 20+… Golden State outscored Cleveland at the charity stripe 28-16

Image

The Warriors new additions seized control in the 4th to break an 89-89 deadlock behind David Lee's monster night of 28 pts, 14 reb plus a big 24 pt contribution from rookie Ayana Edney coming off the bench… Edney sizzled from the FT line drilling 11 of 12 attempts… Rudy Fernandez also knocked in 10 pts on 4-9 shooting… ultimately Golden State's dominance on the glass (41-29) played a huge role in sealing the victory despite huge games by Boston's Big Three (Pierce, Allen, Rondo) who combined for 72 of the Celtics total offense

Image

Golden State trailed the Hawks by as many as 23 pts mid-way through the 2nd period… behind 17 at the half, the Warriors clamped down defensively opening the third on a 9-0 run and outscoring Atlanta 36-18… Curry stepped up with 11 pts in the 4th quarter (18 total) to snag the upset win… Mayo torched the Hawks for a game-high 31 pts adding 7 reb, 2 ast and 2 stl to counter Joe Johnson's team-high 26 pts… 7 players scored in double-digits for Golden State

"GET THAT OUTTA HERE!" Biedrins yells as he checkmates King James | Lee was absolutely brilliant vs the Celtics

refusing to trade Noah is different than Noah electing to play elsewhere; KG basically forced a trade to BOS when he was what 29-30 yrs old? Noah's 25 and his 5-yr deal will cut when he's at his peak (provided no major injuries or slumps knock on wood); that'll put him in a "We'll see" position just like 'Melo now; Rose has team options up thru 2012-13 i think? after that he'll be the Bulls biggest concern; of course winning the title and restoring the Bulls glory days would change the whole equation; i'd love to see it but am just keeping it real ;)
