Rajon Rondo and the Boston Celtics were too much today for the Knicks who have now lost their 2nd game of the season, 104-84.
Rajon Rondo was phenomenal today and proved why he could possibly be the best point guard in the NBA. Rondo had 16 points to go with 7 assists, 4 rebounds and an amazing 7 steals. Rondo was dunking numerous times including a vicious dunk over Defensive Player of the Year candidate, Anthony Randolph. Rondo sat out the final half of the 4th quarter due to the big lead that he sparked.
Knicks Captain, Amar'e Stoudemire scored 27 points to go with 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 blocks and 3 steals. Stoudemire consistently kept the Knicks in the game and at one point in the 4th quarter had the Knicks within 1 point until a surge by Rajon Rondo sparked the victory for the Celtics. Stoudemire is considered the #1 MVP Candidate at the current moment due to his fantastic play throughout the season.
For the Knicks, J.R. Smith had 17 points, Jonny Flynn had 15 points and 7 assists and Anthony Randolph had 14 points, 5 assists, 5 rebounds and 5 blocks. For the victorious Celtics, Kevin Garnett had 17 points and 9 rebounds, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen had 14 points a piece, Nate Robinson had 12 points and Shaquille O'Neal had 11 points.
Anthony Randolph was slightly injured and will be out of training until early January, however he will be back in time for the next game. Furthermore, Eddy Curry will be back in action in the game against New Orleans after his recovery from a near-fatal stabbing 4 weeks ago.
The New York Knicks now have a large break in the season to recover. The Knicks next game is against Chris Paul and the New Orleans Hornet at Madison Square Garden on the 11th of January, 2011.![]()
