Official 2k11 Impressions Thread

I sill don't understand this shader that the pc is missing and haven't seen any evidence pointing out the difference.

Just pay attention to how the shadows from the player appear on the jersey and shorts plus better floor shadows.

X360 VERSION with new shader models

PC VERSION older 2k10 models


Not a super big difference but makes the realism a bit better.

Interesting. I don't give a fuck other than the fact that I should calibrate to get the jersey colors correct. Take a look at how straight the shorts are on the first pic. I wonder if they turned off cloth physics for it.

juz Picked up the nba 2k11 PC version this day! at datablitz here in the philippines....! lucky i'm the 1st to hve...


my 1st part of my impression:


the good is best animations & game play from previous versions...

the bad is some bugs and animations didn't fix from previous version like having wtf! zombie head! also the stamina bar to ugly,menu bar didn't impress me at all same as nba 2k10.
about controls its to hard for some new user...bcoz some control button like crossover and etc... remove from previous versions! tsk3...also has a glitch in showing the user,all play message it goes to blank tab!

If you hit Y/triangle while dribbling in place, you'll do a little signature move to create some space for a jump shot. It automatically makes you pick up your dribble though - would have been a little more useful if you could drive out of it.

Ditto. Did a spin once, behind the back once, that's it. Yet to half spin.

Yeah but those size-ups are the same for everyone. The signature ones seem a little more effective - Derrick Rose's and Lebron's have spin moves built into them.

Just had a great game in MyPlayer (21pts, 15assists, 7reb, POTG) and ther suddenly, for no reason at all, game crashes. Quite mad right now!

Anyways I've played about 3 full quarter games, 2 Jordan Challenges, and 2 classic Chicago team games (not 12min qtrs).

First game that it boots you into with Jordan was sweet, but I was so pissed because it wouldn't let me edit the plays for each player. After attempting to, it switched every positions plays to all be the same. I was thinking "god plays were such a big deal, and they couldn't even make sure that had no bugs", but after that game I had no problems with them. And I'm happy to say I love the play system.

Pro's, Con's have all be discussed already, and I agree with most of them. Still can't comment on the gameplay as I'm still not that good with it. I cannot consistently get my posts to get into positition to back down. They'll catch the ball face up, I'll press the triggers, and half the time he'll just do some stupid iso motion move which then leads to a turnover. Any suggestions?

One BIG deal in my opinion is the little changes to Association mode.
The Player Finder and Trade Finder work AWESOME! Was looking for a mid 70's to 80's SG and walla! several trades found involving the players I was looking to get rid of.
While some of them were unfair for the other team (what happened to the whole trade logic being really tough?), there were still a lot of good options for me.

I remember having isomotion and movement problems in previous versions. I had to install XBCD drivers, increase the deadzone of the sticks and lower their sensitivity to 40-45% instead of the default 60%, then I could move around and perform moves without the player going off in some direction first before performing the isomotion move. Only drawback having slightly less responsiveness, but it's not like 2K has really had good responsiveness anyways.

Played a few games with my friend who's more of a casual NBA fan and hated 2K10. Beat him all 3 times (last game where I was the Cavs against his Heat was close though), but he was very impressed. Loved that it wasn't so easy to take it in, and the real player FG/FT%.

I'm still loving it as well. Some turrible courts like Cleveland and LAC (obviously Golden State as well, but thats just the way it is) but others have improved. Overall, still very pleased with the game.

iirc, that was the also the price of 2K10 (about $30).
Interesting. It's either no one in Datablitz got the memo that 2K11 PC price is now $30 (as compared to $20 for 2K10 PC), or not raising the price to sell more units, or we have price cap regulations for such things.

Odd that he mentions NBA Live 2003. There were a couple of solid games in between 2003 and now and 2003 was kind of a low point in some respects.

Still loving the game, but My Player is as frustrating as it ever was, and the Jordan Challenge is more or less a novelty. Stat padding's lame.

No, they didnt turn the physics off but its different. I played it on PS3 and the jerseys dont look so flaky. The movement is smoother than PC (jerseys that is). Also, if you havent noticed yet, PC jerseys have no shader at all, I mean last year we had a lil but this year no shades. So, I'm guessing these jerseys were created for the new shaders, unfortunately, we dont get the the shader models and we are stuck with plastic looking jerseys.

Hint: Just bring down the brightness and contrast a bit on your graphic card(s) and the game looks alot better IMO. Takes away from the cartoonist moment that mightappear...

Overall the game's graphics & physics (especially allowing the ball to bounce anyway) are nice , although you can tell the shaders are missing!

After a full day free of assignments, I was able to enjoy a day with the game. And mane, its crazy how overrated it is, well actually the blocking animations are horrible, plus the difficulty to stop all-stars are just DUMB! Mane, I got so mad at the fact that Amare, Garnett, & Pau did the same moves and didnt miss it not once, no matter if double team came or not!! Plus, I tried to lay the ball up and was morphed into a 180 turn towards Amare so he can block my shot! Still angered about everything that was happening, the only thing I could think of was "NO TWO PLAYER ANIMATIONS MY ASS!!! "


After about 15 games of anger, I adapted to the game and feel at home with the mishaps of it. My player is the 7th man in rotation for the hawks and we are 5-0. And I'm comfortable with my position as the "up&coming " role player with the sky being the limit as long as I control myself in the media....
