Talk about NBA 2K11 here.

Depends ur player style ... shot selection i mean

if ur athletic player with low 3pt rating and shoot 3 no wonder u get bad shot selection
Thu Oct 07, 2010 4:24 am
Probably too far out for your range?
I have a question for people who have the game, if the steals seem to be a bit much, isn't there a steals/interception slider? Or did they take that out?
Thu Oct 07, 2010 5:25 am
Yes there is a "steal success", and a "play passing lanes" tendency slider. Not sure about actual interceptions.
Funny, I made an all-around SG and was taking 3pters in my opponents face and getting good shot selection. I think it depends on your ratings and position/style.

I read in another forum that the legendary teams arent complete for the pc version.......
true or bs?

Played My Player until I got drafted.
Had 6 points in each of the 3 draft combine games and somehow got drafted 29th.....my white scrub got drafted over college players.....riiiiight.
Anyway, having issues with the "switch" logic. Multiple times the little blue thing under players saying who you're guarding switched multiple times within a second and sometimes multiple players were highlighted. Worse I properly defended a pick n roll and stayed with my man, but after he passed to the roller the game decided I should have switched and hit me with the "let man score" and "allow inside pass" even though my teammate was all over him.
Not the end of the world, just too subjunctive for basketball ratings.

I had 6, 8 and 4 points and went 15th. (Of course I also had 13, 15 and 20 rebounds and 2, 4 and 2 blocks.)

Yes, it's broken, and the AI follows it which results in PF/C's taking point guards for the entire possession and not letting you correct it easily.

True, the guys 7-12 on most of the teams are generic 50 rated guys. But the console versions are the same way. 2K couldn't or didn't bother to get the rights to these guys and are apparently too lazy to make them "roster forwards" and the like.

All the lawsuits against EA right now with the classic NFL teams might have scared them off too.

Can't decide If I want to get it for PC or PS3. Can console saved roster files be edited so maybe we will see roster mods replacing these generic players?
Thu Oct 07, 2010 8:17 am
not like the PC can, but the PS3/360 versions allow the generic players to be replaced by CAPs or edited.

i'm playing on pc, i love this game! gameplay is terrific!
Thu Oct 07, 2010 10:34 am
Haven't tried My Player yet, but I've been extremely impressed with the first couple hours of play. Jordan Challenge isn't really my thing, but the gameplay is far better than the joke that was 2K10, the presentation is phenomenal, and Association looks enhanced. Can't wait for Rashidi to release a decent roster so I can make an association.
Time to send 2K10 back to Gamefly after it got "lost in the mail" a year ago.

Hey it was between the crack the whole time!

Can the name and appearance be edited?

A few too many interceptions for my liking.
I'm ignorant - whats difference between default and simulation game style?
Thu Oct 07, 2010 11:43 am
Default: Kind of a hyper-realism. Shooting %’s will be slightly higher than real life, there will be fewer fouls, slightly more dunks, more and 1’s, etc. “Let ‘em play hoops” so to speak.
Casual: This is the setting you want if you like up and down play with lots of dunks and highlight moments. There won’t be a whole lot of stoppages and you’ll see higher scoring across the board. Arcade-style play is probably the best way to describe it.
Simulation: Real life stats. This is my game style of choice. With 12-min. quarters, you will easily see NBA averages across your stat lines. Don’t expect anything easy in the paint, you’ll have to work a lot harder and execute good basketball strategy to be successful in Sim.
Custom: If you manually modify sliders and settings on your own, the game slider will automatically change to Custom.

Tried My Player. Got 14/16 and an A- in the first game, and 12/7 (all offensive!)/4 and a C+ in the second, which made me quit the mode, and barely resist the urge to punch a whole in the wall.
Game is obviously not a 9.5, but its pretty damn good. Have been playing it on and off for about 6 hours now, and still haven't checked out the Jordan Challenge or ran an association sim. Fuck this game is fun.
Even though 2K had more of my type of music, I'm liking this game's soundtrack more. Probably just because I'm extremely weary of 2K10's offerings.

Got the game and tried to get a little more familiar with the controls, but I must say I'm having a hard time for now, especially when it comes to playing the defender 1-on-1, I can't really find any ankle-breaking moves for now.
I do like the fact that playing back to the defender at the post is no longer automatic and that you now have to hold both LF1 and RF1, seems more intuitive to me. Other than that, the presentation and cutscenes are top notch, the balancing of the sound during the game seems better to me, and the animations are great. It's just gonna take a while to get used to the controls once again.

Its a good game but not a 9.5 in my book. **Shrug** at some of the reviews. I thought they had fixed some of the chessing by the cpu. Like making my people do a full circle instead of just stealing the pass. No complaints tho, I'm just a basketball video gamer. I've bought Mafia II a few weeks ago and haven't even played it yet. Any basketball game is cool to me. However, this game IS a bit overrated!
Only disappointment was not getting the shader that the consoles got! That was kind of a shocker.
I might see you guys online this year. Just mite!
Thu Oct 07, 2010 3:49 pm
I sill don't understand this shader that the pc is missing and haven't seen any evidence pointing out the difference.
Thu Oct 07, 2010 8:48 pm
The game is great! It's a shame, we got no small logos!
Thu Oct 07, 2010 9:48 pm
This game is a very fair 8.5/10 in my eyes. Best 2k game I've played. If they release a good patch then I would be willing to bump that up to 9/10.

Sit, try Total Control Passing. You've got to turn it on in the controls menu though. Once in game hold R1 (I think it's called RB on 360), choose your intended recipient, then you can actually move that player to open space & then you can pass it to them. I'm still getting hang of it myself.
Thu Oct 07, 2010 9:52 pm
Those small logos are the reason why the game is only a 9.5 by IGN! Those small logos are 0.5 value!
Thu Oct 07, 2010 9:57 pm
As I learn the advanced controls, I could fathom giving this an 8/10. But the online is broken as hell, yet again. And some of the stupid as hell bugs still linger.
That said, being able to direct a player to the corner as you pass to setup a three makes you somewhat forget you probably overrated last years game. (Yes, of course, I just figured this passing out. And last year was a 7/10 at best if you were wondering. With My Player providing nearly two full points.)
The only way I could ever score this a 9 is if I was say, a "professional game journalist" and scored everything on a 7-10 scale because my advertisin...I mean objective point of view, said I should.
Thu Oct 07, 2010 10:49 pm
Online that bad is it benji? I'm guessing it won't matter whether you're on 360, PS3 or PC then? A crying shame if it's still not up to scratch. They gotta sort that shit out.
Thu Oct 07, 2010 11:01 pm
Haven't had a game that lasted more than a few minutes before it disconnected.
Under the same conditions that'd let me play plenty of games online for hours upon hours.
PC version.
Not to mention how it lowers the graphics.
