In addition, Thierry needs to show that he can fully be committed, as he has a tendency to give up and quit after a bad play or a bad game.

Or a bad dynasty(ies)

Chapter 11

Lai sat in his office, slipping his coffee and going over the endless pile of scouting reports that his scouts have sent him. The Bulls are only picking in the second round, with the 59th overall pick, but even so, Lai wants to make sure it's the right one.

"So, any ideas so far?" Bryon Scott said as he entered the room "I trust the scouts have been giving you updates from the workouts?"
"I have a list, but it really depends on what happens" answered Lai with a sigh "Planning for the second last pick is such a pain in the ass Byron"
Scott chuckled "Your reward for a successful season"
"Excuse me Sir? I'm sorry to interrupt, but you have a phone call" it was Lai's secretary
"Thanks, I'll take it" Lai then turned to Scott "I'll see you at the staff meeting later"
Scott nodded and left the room, Lai picked up the phone "Hello? This is Leo Lai of the..."
"Chicago Bulls, I know that. I got you the job" the person on the phone said with a laugh, it was the owner of the Bobcats, Michael Jordan
"Oh hello there Mr Jordan, do you have a deal that you want to discuss? Oh by the way, Wade is not available for Stephen Jackson, no matter what the rumors are..."
"Nono, I'm not calling for a deal, even though that sounds pretty awesome" replied Jordan "I need a favor from you"
"So..What is it that you need?"
Jordan told him and Lai was puzzled, very puzzled.
"Why do you need me to do that? Arn't you in a better position to make that offer?" asked Lai
"You know why I can't, there will be media repercussions if i do" Jordan answered "Now, you owe me your job, so are you going to do this for me?"
Lai thought about it for a second and sighed "Alright, I'll do my best"

✧✧✧✧✧

"Ladies and Gentlemen. Welcome to the 2011 NBA Draft at the WaMu Theater in Madison Square Garden. It had been a wonderful season, one that saw the Los Angeles Lakers successfully completing their three-peat by defeating the Orlando Magic in the NBA Finals" stated commissioner David Stern "Tonight will mark the start of yet another new beginning, as 60 bright young men will be selected to begin their professional career as a basketball player in the NBA."
"The Milwaukee Bucks will be picking first, they have five minutes to make their selection" concluded Stern as he stepped off the podium.

The green room was buzzing with anticipation, there had been many speculations with regards to the first overall pick, the mocks have Harrison Barnes, the Tar Heel small forward that have been compared to Kevin Durant, going first; but after seeing the Thunder pick Cole Aldrich over John Wall in the previous draft, no one can be too certain.

Except maybe a few.

"I tell you man, you are going to Milwaukee while the Knicks will pick me for sure" fellow Tar Heel Will Sit was saying to Barnes "We're going to rip it up in the NBA!"
Barnes smiled but did not reply, he had butterflies in his stomach, something that has not occured since the Tar Heels played, and subsequently won, the 2011 NCAA Championship game.

Meanwhile, Sit was bragging to anybody he could see.
"Yeah, you see me? It's time for the Will Sit take-over!"
Arizona big man Martti Must shook his head "Somebody shut him up for once"
"What did you say? Don't forget you lost to us in the championship game!" Sit was gloating, Martti went quiet. He did not want to remember that game. He scored 19 points and grabbed 8 rebounds but his team got obliterated by the talented North Carolina team.

"Don't worry, you can get him next time" said a person who strolled over, it was Washington's Liam Washburn "Just kick his ass in the NBA"
Must grinned and gave Washburn a hi-five and chatted about what teams they would like to go for, when they noticed a huge body walking by "Any idea who that is?" asked Must
"Isn't he that guy from Sudan?" replied Washburn "What's his name? Ocho something?"
"It's Octavius Ocho" Argentinian Thierry Tirieux suddenly popped up, dressed in a suit that would make Craig Sager proud. Washburn and Must stared at him.
"What? You think the suit looks bad? Ok fine I'm leaving" Tirieux turned and left angrly, before returning in another Sager-style suit with a different color theme.

✧✧✧✧✧

David Stern was back on stage, ready to announce the Bucks' pick.

"With the first pick of the 2011 NBA Draft, the Milwaukee Bucks select...." Stern paused "Harrison Barnes of the University of North Carolina"
The New York crowd was making all sorts of noise. Barnes stood up, gave Sit a hi-five and walked to the stage.

Lai watched all of this from the draft room. It is going to be a long wait.

Would suck for you if you get drafted at the projected 13 as there is Tony Parker there, if you go high to New York or Indiana there will def be a starting job (Y)

Bulls pick up option on Rose, Gibson
June 20th 2011

ImageImage
To nobody's surprise, the Chicago Bulls have exercised the team
options for the final year of the contracts of guard Derrick Rose and forward Taj Gibson.

Rose is due to make just under $7,000,000 in this upcoming season while Gibson's option
will net him approximately $1,200,000.

Rose was the number 1 overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft and has had a quick impact in
the league, grabbing rookie of the year honors in his first season in the league and led the
team to a historic seven game series to the Boston Celtics. Rose has since been selected to
back-to-back all star teams and was named to the All-NBA Third Team selection in the
2009-10 season. As a member of the USA Mens Basketball Team, Rose helped the team in
winning a gold medal in the 2010 FIBA World Championship in Turkey.

A 6 foot 9 inch power forward, Taj Gibson was selected with the 26th overall pick by the
Chicago Bulls. Gibson ended his rookie campaign being selected to the All-Rookie second
team and continued to grow as a player, fueling the Chicago bench with his high energy
and defensive plays.

Chicago Resigns Brad Miller
July 1st 2011

Image
The Chicago Bulls have announced the resigning of center Brad Miller, ESPN reported
earlier today.

Miller will return for the veteran minimum and is on a one year deal. A 14 year veteran, the
7 foot center from Purdue averaged 4.0 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game over
82 games coming off the bench for the Chicago Bulls.

Aside from his contributions on the court, the 35 year old also acts as a mentor for the team,
especially big man Joakim Noah.

"Just passing on my knowledge of the game to the next generation" Miller had said "Doing
whatever it takes to help them get better"

Chapter 12

NBA Deputy Commissioner Adam Silver was beginning to feel tired.
"Just two more" he thought to himself as he walked to the podium, it had been a long evening in the WaMu Theater at Madison Square Garden, but it was about to wrap up.

"With the 59th pick of the 2011 NBA Draft, the Chicago Bulls select.." Silver announced "Marcus Jordan of the University of Central Florida"
Marcus was in the crowd with his family when he heard the announcement, he looked up in surprise as the mocks had him as being undrafted and he came only for moral support of his peers. His dad did tell him that there will be a surprise, but he didn't expect this. He stood up and hugged his parents.
"I didn't think this would be the surprise you were talking about dad" Marcus said to the elder Jordan "This is great!"
"Do me proud son" was the reply from the Bulls legend, he was smiling as his son walked up the podium to shake hands with the deputy commissioner.

Meanwhile, in the Bulls front office, Leo Lai reached for the phone once he saw the announcement.
"I trust that you are happy with this?" Lai said "He'll still need to prove himself though"
It was Jordan on the other end "Yes, I am thankful for that. He won't disappoint you"

✧✧✧✧✧

With the draft behind them, Leo Lai and his front office staff got to work on the rest of the offseason. Some of the scouts' contracts have expired and Lai quickly wrapped that up, resigning NBA Scout Sheldon Hubbard to a 1 year deal worth $750k and replacing his retired prospect scout with Dee Copeland for the same price.

This was the easy part.

"Sir, it's time for your meeting with Mr. Wade" Lai's secretary reminded him, waking him up from his short nap "He's in the conference room"
"Thanks" Lai said as he got up and yawned, he hasn't had a proper sleep in days. He took the cup of coffee prepared for him and made his way to the conference room.

"Thank you for seeing us" Lai was greeted by Wade and his agent, Henry Thomas. "Now, my client and I would like to make things clear here."
Lai did not respond, he simply waited
"My client has asked for the removal of Derrick Rose and Evan Turner from the team, and that has not been done. Furthermore, there is no indication that you will do such a thing" Thomas continued "If you do not give us guarantee of their trade out of Chicago, we will be the ones who will request a trade, and as we have a No Trade Clause, you will be trading my client wherever he wishes to go"

An awkward silence went through the room as Lai gathered his thoughts
"Is there any way to compensate this?" Lai asked "Dwyane, I know you have a problem with those two 'stealing the shine' as you call it, but is it really a reason to ask for a trade out of a contending team?"
Wade laughed "Contending? We will never contend if we have those two clowns here. If you want to win, you win it my way"
Lai frowned, he had spent so much effort recruiting Wade to play for the Bulls, and now he's asking out "I'm sorry, there is no way I could compile with your request"
"Then trade me" Wade replied before turning to his agent "Give it to him"
Thomas reached into his briefcase and took out a sheet of paper "This is the shortlist of teams that my client would like to be traded to. Don't try any funny business, we have the right to veto any deals. You don't want this to become ugly"

✧✧✧✧✧

"So, got something worked out yet?" It was Bryon Scott "Don't take it too hard man, we've got time"
"Not really, We can never get equal value if we answer his requests" replied Lai, still deep in thought
Silence concurred before Lai suddenly spoke up "Byron, I just got an idea"
"Yes?"
"How would you like to have Carmelo Anthony on the team?"
"It'll be great but how would you do that?" asked Scott "We don't have cap space"
"We can trade Wade and Deng or someone away to get the cap space"
"Well ok, it's up to you" replied Scott "Good Luck with that"

✧✧✧✧✧

Deciding to go ahead with his plan, Lai let go of all the free agent expirings with the exception of Brad Miller, he likes the tough veteran presence that Miller gives.

"It's a pleasure to have you back on board" Lai said as he shook Miller's hand "The team needs you"
"Thank you" replied Miller "Can I know the latest info on Dwyane?"
"Honestly, I don't know right now" Lai answered "I'm sorry, I promise the team will continue to contend though"

After Miller left the room, Lai decided it was time to contact Anthony, the big prize in the 2011 Free Agency.

"Hey there Melo, how would you like it if you came to Chicago?"

The Chemistry problems is why I even needed to contemplate trading Wade in the first place :shake: Stupid superstar tantrums
The Young MJ would need to prove himself if he wants to be part of the rotation...I might even send him down for D-League stints, but we'll see
