Thanks for not trading him to the Lakers. (Y)

The Grizz are hyper-athletic now with Wall, Mayo, Gay and McGee, plus Randolph is a double-double machine. I remember that Wall went to Memphis in my short-lived 2K10 association.

Postby KidJustin on Wed Sep 15, 2010 8:04 am

Thanks for the feedback, I hope this will make things more competitive

I really like it when rookies are given opportunities and lowly NBA teams make their way up.

well, now back to the topic at hand...My Clippers...I got a poll up. And I'm interested to see what you guys think (Y)

EDIT: i'm having difficulties with the poll..i'll get it up as soon as it works

EDIT EDIT:
so the poll isn't working but i was going to ask:
Who will emerge as the Clippers Leader/Superstar?

I'm not sure what was going on with the poll but it should be working fine now. My vote goes to Durant.

How is Tony Allen's offensive ratings? Particularly the midrange and three point shooting ratings? I'm glad you got a center in return in Marc Casol, he could develop nicely, i think you should work on his defense. That is some team in memphis to, Gay, Mayo, Randolph and Wall, wow!

i'm not Washington (or Memphis)...haha

i did this because Arenas was taking away form Wall's stats on his rookie year...i want Wall to be a good player and battle (my) Griffin for ROY...so i did a trade between two OTHER teams so that Wall doesn't have to be shadowed by Arenas (no matter what i did...the game kept making Arenas the star and Wall a scrub...so i had to do it)

(Still pending...)
Rules:
Registered NLSC members, or Agents, will be allowed to enter contest that will award their client, or NLSC Draftee's, with "Smart Dudes Dynasty Points" (or SDD Points). These points work for two purposes: (1) Impact Draft Stock (2) Player Improvement. Only 1 NLSC Draftee per Agent.
(1) Impact Draft Stock
NLSC Draftee's draft stock/position will be determined based on how many SSD Points they have accumulated during the season. Contest prizes are detailed below. NLSC Draftees cannot lose points, thus cannot lose draft stock, however other NLSC Draftees that gain more SSD Points (raise their stock) can greatly affect the draft stock those who have less SSD Points.
(2) Player Improvement:
The SSD Points earned during the current season (season before the draft) will be carried over to the NLSC draftee's rookie season. These points can be used toward the player improvement of individual rating of a NLSC draftee. Only the Agent is allowed to decided when to use the points, how many, and in what area(s). Agents will be limited on how many SSD Points can be used per month, details will be determined after the final contest. No monthly rollovers. Unused SSD Points expire after 1 season.

Agents can contact me via PM or a post on this thread.

Earning SSD Points:
Throughout the "Smart Dudes Clippers dynasty" story, various contest will be posted, each with their own details on that contest rules and how many points can be earned. Contest can range from trivia questions, to predictions, to user submissions , and more.
Agents can continue to earn more SSD Points during their Draftee's rookie season, but cannot use the newly won points toward Player Improvement until February of their rookie season (or current season). The SSD Points will be dated with the year they were earned to differentiate. (ex. 2010 SSD Points vs. 2011 SSD Points).

Contest Prize:
Grand Prize Winner (Agent with the most SSD Points) - NLSC Draftee will be rated 80+, projected to go top 3, and have a shoe deal
Middle Group - NLSC Draftee will be rated 70+, projected in the lottery (top 14) - ranked based on total SSD Points
Bottom group (0 SSD Points), if any - NLSC Draftee rated 60+, projected to go 2nd Round or following draft

The Clippers started off very slow against this weak Timberwolves team, but that was mainly due to the part by the surprisingly tough play by the T'Wolves swingmen. Corey Brewer and Wesley Johnson forced turnovers and made it tough for the Clippers to score on the defensive end. They also scored the ball with fluid ball movement on the offensive end. The Clippers were very surprised as they started the game down by 8 after missing their first 5 shots. It was as if the team took the T'Wolves too lightly or never read the scouting report.

They were lucky to take their first lead at the end of the 1st after a steal by Eric Gordon lead to a 3 point play by Kevin Durant and then another steal by Al-Farouq Aminu lead to a buzzer beater 3 pointer the traditional way by Durant. The team continued to struggle against the T'Wolves defense, missing as many as 8 field goals in a row, being out rebounded, and trailing at times by as much as 12 points. Thanks to some solid defense, deflections, and steals by Gordon, the Clippers found themselves down by only 5 points at the half, despite shooting only 44% from the field.

...that led to an easy layup

At the start of the second half, the Clippers dominance wasn't the only thing missing as Coach Vinny Del Negro never came back to the sidelines. Assistant Head Coach Marc Iavaroni took over the duties in the second half. The mid-game coaching change didn't help much as the Clippers did play with more energy, but still could not match up against the T'Wolves energy coming out of the tunnel.

After trailing by as much as 15 points, Acting-Coach Iavaroni decided to play the starters the rest of the way from the 6 minute mark. A big gamble since they are playing only the first of back-to-back road games, but it did pay off for this game as they were able to find a way to win behind the leadership of Baron Davis. Behind Davis, the Clippers went on a 18-8 run to end the final 6 minutes and seal victory number 12 on this early season.

In the final minute of the game...
With the Clippers down by 4 a very controversial call was made by the referees as they called Kevin Love for the charge against DeAndre Jordan, causing a turnover. In the very next play Eric Gordon made a layup to pull the team within 2. A steal by Baron Davis would lead to a fast break layup to tie the game with 37 seconds remaining. Tough defense forced a T'Wolves miss; Blake Griffin with the rebound and an outlet to Davis. Davis took the ball to the hole and gave the Clippers their first lead of the second half. Without any timeouts, Jonny Flynn was forced to heave the ball at half court as time expired; the ball missed its marked and the Clippers win.

First Baron ties it up...

...then takes the lead to secure victory #12

The Clippers barely held off the NBA's lowest team. Now they will need to save the remaining energy they have left against another surprise team tomorrow night against the Indiana Pacers. The Pacers had been the only other undefeated team until they lost last night to the Atlanta Hawks. Will the Pacers lose for the second straight time after winning 8 in a row? Or will they server the Clipper's their first loss of the season?

Post Game Quotes:
Reporter: What happen out there Baron? What happen to Coach Del Negro?
Baron:
I don't know man.....The Timberwolves have talent, can't doubt that with their record. They are just starting to put the pieces together. It just shows that you can never under estimate your opponent. The Coach?...I don't know man...
