NBA Injury

Postby KidJustin on Sat Aug 28, 2010 6:37 pm

Another member of the Trio is injured
Image

Another Miami Heat superstar has fallen victim to injury as Chris Bosh went down hard in their first loss of the season against the New Orleans Hornets. Bosh landed hard early in the first half after a layup attempt. He immediately went to the bench to be treated. He would return, but was not the same player, finishing with only 8 points in the game.

Dwyane Wade and Mike Miller kept it close scoring 24 and 23, respectively. But it was not enough as Emeka Okafor, David West, and Chris Paul each scored 20 or more points.

If the Heat weren't being tested already, they will be now as Chris Bosh will be sidelined for at least 6 days with back spasms. LeBron is still out for at least another few more weeks. It is fitting that is all up to Dwayne Wade now (and again) to lead the Heat.

The Hornets are in second place in the Western Conference with a record of 4-1 as they dropped the Heat to second place in the Eastern Conference with a record of 5-1. The only teams undefeated are the Los Angeles Clippers and the Indiana Pacers, each with a 5-0 record.

This was the second straight game the Clippers faced a superstar SF and both times Eric Gordon and Blake Griffin shined. This time they faced off against the disgruntled Carmelo Anthony and if the rumors are true, Anthony should be more than happy the join the Clippers. If Melo were to land in LA, he would actually be the 3rd leading scorer at just above 20 points per game. Griffin is scoring around 25 points per game, while Gordon has been going just over 30 points per game.

The Clippers as a whole did not cruise through this game however as they continued to struggle from downtown and too many turnovers. Melo also made sure it wasn't going to be an easy game as he turned it on in the second to extend their lead by going 5 out of 5 in route to 10 points in the second quarter alone. But with the Clippers leading in rebounds they were able to keep it close so that by the third, Baron Davis tried to take over the game with some good playmaking and defense as the leagues leader in steals he came up with 3 crucial ones tonight. Chauncey Billups, along with Anthony, tried to put the game away in the fourth after leading after each quarter, but Gordon and Griffin wouldn't let them. Baron continued to find Griffin to chip away at the lead and eventually tie the game.

With the game tied at 101 a piece late in the fourth quarter, Eric Gordon would hit a clutch 3 pointer to give the Clippers a comfortable lead. After some strong defense on the other side that forced a tough outside jumper by Billups, Gordon came down the floor and scored another clutch bucket beating the shot clock and left only 4.5 seconds remaining. The Nuggets, out of timeouts had run out of options as a full court toss out of bounce would signal another victory for the Clippers.

A nice way to start their first road trip of the season.

Durantula_MVP, as long as he dishes the ball he doesnt need to score...Gordon and Griffin are good at that...
plus i'm more worried about the 8 turnovers than the 8 points...

Game Recap - Back2Back wins on the road - Defeat Jazz

In Clippers history, they have always struggled in the EnergySolutions Arena in salt lake and the start of this match appeared to stay consistent. The Clippers starters were very slow and sluggish, most likely because they just played last night in the high altitudes of Denver, Colorado. But midway through the first quarter the Clippers got their second wind and started to show life after the rookies, Eric Bledsoe and Al-Farouq Aminu both hit 3's in the first quarter.
Image

A rare 3 pointer by the Rookie

In the first half, Clippers battled back behind the plays of Baron Davis and Blake Griffin. Baron was dishing out assists and would end the night with a game high 14 assists, while Blake had 8 rebounds by halftime, 3 offensive and 5 defensive, he would also lead all players by the end of the game with 12 rebounds. The Clippers began to find their range this game as the Clippers hit 4 3-pointers in the first half, which is more than the amount they made in the entire game last night.

In the second half, the Clippers continued to score from all over the floor, but still trailed the Jazz attack. Eric Gordon and Baron Davis started the 3rd both hitting 3 pointers while Gomes, after going scoreless for 2 straight games finally made a bucket on a jumper on the left side. But when Griffin went out to rest and Baron found himself in foul trouble, the second unit could not hang with the Jazz as the small margin started to grow. Kaman would end the game with 9 rebounds, but for some reason once Griffin left the floor, whoever was in the game for Clippers could not grab any rebounds.

The Clippers really turned on the heat in the fourth by an unlikely hero. Rookie Willie Warren who has found himself deep in the depth chart was in at the beginning of the fourth. And he did not disappoint the Coach hitting back-to-back 3 pointers to start the quarter and give the Clippers a 1 point lead. Eric Gordon, who still struggled shooting finished with 5 3 pointers, and Blake Griffin rallied the team home to a 1 point victory which came really close to a 2 point loss. In the final moments Deron Williams cut the lead to 1 on a 3 pointer, then fouled Eric Gordon, who missed 2 free throws which allowed the Jazz to collect the rebound and take the last shot, but strong defense by the Clippers for Kirilenko into a tough 3 pointer which bounced off the rim and then collected by Griffin for another rebound.

It was a good effort by Williams, but it wasn't enough.
