Thierry., I got a suggestion....something that I will do next time after my 5 failed dynasties (actually I did this method with the midnight ballers one, so yay me)

Finish a season. Not a complete association, but just 1 year and pile up the recaps, boxscores, pics, all of it. Then scheduled release that crap. While you are releasing, play the next season, pretty much keep a buffer. You'll lose out on community interaction/tips/thoughts but if you want to entertain us with a full season, thats how you should do it.

And if you want to keep switching teams (I honestly dont know why you fail at stories, just mentioning this) run a 30 team association and switch all you want. Run a Thierry League instead of a Thierry team.
Opinions are my own.

You wouldn't get "attacked" for that until you (inevitably) retired the story.

I tried that too Yao, most of you won't remember probably but I had a Knicks thread and traded everybody for Europeans  José, Pietrus, Hedo, Gasol, Gasol.. I played like 50+ games and then lost my saved game. Had so many screenshots and stuff. Oops, didn't mean to scare anyone. ;)

Good, will try that. Thanks a lot for the suggestion Jao. And nevermind, will choose a team myself this next days. Coming another round of exhibition tests... :cheeky:

Hey guys, I had a question about Association in 2k10 (I didn't buy it, still have 2k9).

Does the CPU still make those horrible contract choices? In 2k9, every player with an 85 overall gets near max or a max deal, which seems ridiculous. Was that fixed in 2k10? Or if not has it been discussed for 2k11?

I know this isn't too on-topic, but didn't want to start a new thread and this seemed like the perfect place to ask.

Pretty much, but it depends on their age. An 80 rated Shaq will get 1 year/3 mil, while an 80 rated Steph Curry will get 5 year/60-70 mil.

Darn, that's the thing that bugs me the most about Association Mode. 28 year old 82 rated Hasheem Thabeet asking for 4 years 10% back starting at 10.5mil D:

On the other hand, I often signed obvious MLE guys for $1 or $2 million per. I agree the 2k salary system is pretty bad. But you kind of know that when you see the trades that go on.

Shit like that happens in real life though (see Kwame Brown, Darko Milicic), but it can be annoying. I edit players' salaries down sometimes if the contracts signed are really ridiculous (like the Blazers signing Charlie V to 5 years, 70 mil to back up Aldridge)

that's not unrealitic though imo

Big men get paid. 82 is pretty high for a center too.

I'm thinking to start association. But i don't know what team to choose. I always play about 10-15 games with one team and then i get bored playing with this team. Can anyone recommend team, what could be interesting to play with?

Started 2 Associations

Got a 97 one with the bulls, first game ended with a MJ buzzer beater. 2nd game was more of the same but I won it with 10 seconds left.

After remembering how much I liked association mode i started a '10 celtics one. Ran about .500 till February and then I turned trades on. Got rid of Daniels and Jermaine Oneal for Grant Hill and Warrick. Rubio was unhappy on the Mavs (he was a FA....I messed up having him in there) so I got him for Von Wafer someone else I picked up off FA and a pick. After the all star break I found out that Shaq and Perk were both pissy about their minutes. So I dumped Shaq to the Nuggets for Birdman and somewhere in their i got this Damien Wilkins character. Played the Nuggets the next game which was pretty interesting seeing my goto cheese player on the other team. Perk was performing a lot better than Shaq though. After beating the Lakers and losing the Nuggets Ray Allen broke his knee in half (patella tear) and is gone for the season :( I can't hit shit with Pierce for 3 so I relied on Nate and Ray to carry the 3 point load. I'm training Rondo to be a 3 point shooter and maybe Ill change PP's sig shot to something I can hit with.

Having a lot of fun with it...but I have 3 associations now (NLSC roster is the 3rd), 2 playoffs (EBC mod, NCAA mod), a My Player, and I'm trying to make a Finals Team only roster for the past few years. Fack, focus Jon....dammit.
Opinions are my own.

What is my character like in your NLSC mod? I don't have 2k10 so can't find out. :)

With the exception of Sit, you guys suck. I'm disappointed at Jao for placing me in the Raptors. It's like sentencing me to play in hell.

I think he needs to do an nlsc association thread, now.

I kind of realized that practicing in association mode is cheating. My team is 99/98 overall every game and it just dawned on me why I am 9-0. Only risk is that the ratings get too high and the whiners start complaining. That's what I get for downloading a draft class with overrated players.

What is John Wall's or the highest rookie rating in that draft class?

Do you have progressive fatigue, player roles, team chemistry turned off?

Martti is on chicago
De8 is on the bobcats
Sit is a cav (I think you're lebron)

again what I did was sum all the ratings up for all the players, used the sum as my guideline for best/worst players, then went with post counts from high to low to determine "rank" if you will

randomized skin tones and accessories and tada, generic NLSC roster! (Pat I never did find the texture I needed to edit for the eyebrows thing)

and you guys dont want me doing another association/dynasty....it only ends with tears of potential, so someone else do it.

that celtics association....yea, shaq ruined that team....dumped a 0 happiness perk after the playoffs (first round exit thanks to the damn wizards) and pretty much gutted the bench. I'm going to try and develop my "Jordans" (DeAndre and Marcus) and picked up the greatness that is Joel Anthony. (someone said he is good) Got rid of Finley but kept Nate and Grant Hill. Ray Allen is still fucking hurt....another 2-4 months on him.....WTF 2k....being realistic and shit....having multi-season injuries. Just played a quarter of the first preseason game, tied the first....had enough for the night and simmed till end. Remember 4 minute quarters but the final was 39-19 against the Nuggets.....2 points for me in the 3rd......looks like simming will be a strict no-no. Found it hilarious that the Nuggets threw Shaq on the bench behind Nene. BTW, I only turn on CPU trades in February and left them on during the offseason. Rockets got rid of Battier....picked up Iverson (4 year contract). Darko got sign to 4 years as did Kwame. Gawd.. and it was a Blazers Nets finals. Nets won. Harris just beast mode'd the entire season (MVP) and Wall got ROTY.
Opinions are my own.

I have two ideas for an association but I can't decide which one to do because of certain difficulties.

First one is to have an association with Chris Paul and Kevin Durant as teammates. I want to work within the CBA rules (no fantasy draft, trade override, or custom teams) so I've been trying to figure out how to make that happen with trades.

Second is a custom team. Problem is I'm having trouble filling out the roster. Here it is to give you an idea.

C: The greatness that is Joel Anthony
PF: Kwame Brown
SF: Adam Morrison
SG: ?
PG: ? (Chris Quinn for now, unless I find no one more talented than him)

Backups
C/PF: Darko Milicic
SF/SG: ?
SG/PG: ?
9th: ?
10th: Brian Scalabrine
11th: Stromile Swift
12th: (Antoine Walker)

I originally wanted Michael Olowokandi to be the backup big but he's not available in 2K9, 2K10, and highly doubtful in 2K11. I don't want to hassle myself with a CAP so I replaced him with Darko.
NBA champion Antoine Walker will be the playing coach of this team if in 2K9, or just coach if in 2K10 or 2K11, dunno if he's available in 2K10.
I plan on completing an 8 man roster with the players mentioned and the rest I'll just fill in with scrubs.

They are not good enough. I demand the best.

Shaun Livingston has been suggested but he's not good enough too.

Stromile Swift has been added as my 3rd big after the greatness that is Joel Anthony and Darko.
