Some fucking company has taken $130 out of my bank account. They are called CD Earth, I've never ordered anything from CD Earth! Their website seems to say they sell "free" CD's of various programs.

Wait turns out my mum used my debit card to pay $3 postage for this stupid free CD and now I'm down $130. I sent an email, from what I've found they have scammed a lot of people. I'm fucking angry.

my future brother-in-law got arrested this afternoon on 3 felony charges (short story, sexting) he's 21, she is supposedly 16, theyve known each other for years, its a small town, many other people have been couples that young with that kind of age difference......truthfully I dont feel that bad over what is going on....but this family does NOT need this now.

in the past year they had a nasty divorce, money and health problems, and after the search warrant was fulfilled and they took him away my future father-in-law had chest pains and numbness on his left side. So to the ER we went, hes fine now though after a much of meds and tests.....more tomorrow after the 8am arraignment (its 130am for me now)

night amigos

Yes! I have something to let off steam.

I'm playing My Player mode in NBA 2K10. Leading my team (Bobcats, as z02 said that they won the whole damn thing  ) at assists and points per game. Last match, I scored 61 points and 12 assists in 2OT match against Bulls. Normal. But when I go to fastbreak, I pass to Felton and he passes to someone (especially Jax and G-Force). And he makes an assist. What does he want from me? :x

I would chronicle all the real world problems people have had in this thread to juxtapose it against yours, but I think the above post from JaoSming is good enough that it proves my point.

And before you counter with your eloquent analysis, even those of us who posted trivial Steam entries are aware of its trivial nature, as this thread caters to many forms of steam.

In this case the steam is the fact that your horrific steam is causing mine.

You know, if I was capable of it instead of being able to be harsh at a drop of a hat like my forum mates have termed me.

In other words, please post in our Debate Threads.

What's the age of consent where you are? I've always found it absurd that it's legal for two people to have sex, but not for them to see each other naked.

Since all the surrounding states are 16 to JaoSming's area I'll assume it happened prior to today or outside of that general area. Especially once factoring in the stupid parents pushing the case.

For references sake, I agree with consent laws but I'm not sure an arbitrary age definition is best. I think it is possible to set some age level while allowing for a way to prove consent is possible below that age. I've met 25 year olds I wouldn't grant consent to, and 10 year olds I could. (I'm assuming all contracts, not sexual interaction you perverts! I'M NOT ON TRIAL HERE! JACKAL WAS OF AGE!)

Yeah, I've certainly met plenty of people over 18 far more stupid than some I've met under 18. It's a bit hard to assess maturity and whatnot in any sort of concrete way, however, so an age limit has its benefits in that regard.

The thing with the age of consent, though, is that any 'pornographic depiction' of someone under the age of 18, with the definition of 'pornographic' and 'depiction' varying from one jurisdiction to another, is considered in most places to be child pornography, even if the age of consent for that area is lower. Further, they'll often prosecute the person sending the image, even though they're technically the victim of the crime.

Any age of consent sexually is a bit silly, though. An age below which you can only legally have sex with people also below that age makes far more sense. Prosecuting two 12 year olds for having sex with one another is silly, because you're again really just prosecuting the victim of the crime.

Debate thread.

I'd rather it not.....

...but to post more information on a public forum he got out with no monetary bail but has to drive 45 minutes to a courthouse 3 times a week to check in. Bunch of other conditions that prevent him from going to college this year or working....really even leaving the house. I mean its this or wait in jail till mid-October (where the trial date will be set) so yea, good thing I have a lot of 360 games for him to play.

Everyone is in as good of spirits that we can be in. First time Ive ever been in a courtroom (other than jury duty and going in the wrong door trying to find the land registry....idiot) so it was really weird. Their mom almost lost it a few times during the arraignment which was fun.....

Whatever, moving on....but now neither boy is going to move out to school this year.....so where the fuck am I going to put my pool table (we were going to take over one of their old rooms)

Sorry to hear that Jon, glad to hear that everyone's putting as positive a spin on it as possible and sticking together, and that your father-in-law is OK.

Just put yourself in the shoes of the accused ZanShadow, or even as a family member of the accused. Do you want national media coverage?

Yes, that is the point I was trying to get to.
Buy sympathy? How so?

"A 21 year old and 16 year old are a couple? They are in love, drop the charges!"
"A 21 year old and 16 year old are a couple? Lock down that corrupter of the innocent! Death penalty if you must!"

Tell me ZanShadow, which of those two is the most probable mindset the people will choose when they hear/see it in the news? And that's just the people, doesn't yet include the media outlets themselves which put their own spin in their coverage.

(Apologies to Jao if anything)

If Zanshadow responds, the mods can feel free to move the posts to that Age of Consent thread if they see fit.

I don't know. :P

I think too much what ifs. But I don't really have much to say on age of consent discussion as I never thought much about it anyways. I'd rather be a listener than a speaker on this issue.

On my personal rants, no BBQ this weekend for me but instead more work. I was interested in one of the girls I met last week, but seems like my friend already is working on her. Instead, this girl I wasn't interested got my phone number and called me about the party.

My cellphone screen has a crack on it. Fuck that. Stupid me for throwing something and accidentally hitting my phone. I am screwed if my mother finds out about it.

There's a hostage-taking situation going on in Manila right now. The hostage taker is allegedly a guy who lost his job and is trying to have it back by getting the attention of the authorities by means of taking a bus and holding all passengers hostage.

I'd like to clarify that I'm not the jobless hostage-taker.

8 dead, 7 wounded out of of 25 hostages. 9 were initially released, and the released driver was the one who told the police that the hostage taker sprayed bullets on the passengers.
