Last season I fell short of just 4 wins. Playing on Superstar this time around, it'll be much harder, but we'll see how it goes.

2-game Recap

[3-0] Houston Rockets 114-85 Phoenix Suns [1-1]

Image
The Rockets used their 90's jerseys this game, which were more interesting than the game itself.

Dominant. That word alone is the only word in the English dictionary that can be allowed to describe not only this game, but the next game too. The Suns had an eight point lead in the mid-first quarter, and were up by 6 heading into the 2nd. Suddenly, in the 2nd and 3rd quarters, the Suns went cold, part of it had to do with the Rockets defense. The Suns went so cold, that Steve Nash was held to a relatively quiet night of 15 points. On the other side however, the Rockets exploded on offense. Every shot seemed to be falling for the Rockets, and they scored 30+ points in the 2nd and 3rd quarter.

"It felt like we were playing a pick-up game, due to the arena's emptiness in the 4th quarter," said Kevin Martin, whom was the Performer of the Game. The bench finished out the game in garbage time. "This win may have something to do with Amar'e gone, but I think Channing Frye can be a good replacement for him. We played our best offense, and best defense tonight, and I'm proud of my team," said Rick Adelman.

The Chuckwagon had 6 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 blocks.

A struggling Mavericks franchise came to Houston to show just how much they're struggling. Through the first half, both teams were in a tight contest. However, good offense and shot selection enabled the Rockets to pull away in the 3rd. The Rockets' bench held the Mavs out in the 4th. A Dirk-less Mavs was blown out, as the Rockets win their home opener.

Nice to see Chuck contribute. (y)

The Lakers might be your first loss, though you have been playing great so far.

The Lakers did not upgrade during the offseason, apart from Glen Davis. They don't have Derek Fisher anymore though, Shannon Brown is their starting PG. Overall, if Ron Artest doesn't play like he did in the Western Conference Finals, it'll be a close contest.
Thierry. wrote:As Andrew said, the Lakers will be tough. Not much resistance until this point.

The Clippers showed resistance. Maybe that foreshadows a loss in LA :P .

I like using Chuck. I use him as a center despite him being 6"6". He's as strong as any other center, but he's got the speed advantage.

With the settings I have now, I have to work for big leads like those against the Mavs and the Suns. The Mavs sometimes managed to come within 9. Hope the Lakers give me some sort of resistance.

2-game Recap

[5-0] Houston Rockets 103-89 Los Angeles Lakers [4-2]

Image
Old man still has game.

The Rockets have continued their dominance with a crushing loss to their Western Conference Finals rivals from last season, the Los Angeles Lakers. With Shannon Brown out with an injury, the Lakers were left to start Jordan Farmar, as Derek Fisher left to Cleveland. The Rockets had a terrific start, scoring buckets galore. Kobe Bryant started out the game shooting 2/10 from the field, but eventually would finish with 25, tying a game-high with K-Mart. While Farmar did dish out well, he didn't bring the scoring load that Derek Fisher would bring, only scoring 7. In the end, the Rockets continue undefeated, and now remain the only undefeated team in the league, as the Nuggets have fallen to 6-1.

And so the reign of terror continues....

The Rockets are now 4-0 against Californian teams. The Warriors fell victim to the high-flying Rockets. In the beginning, it appeared that the Dubs would give the Rockets very strong resistance, giving them a tight second quarter. In the third quarter however, the Rockets scored 3 3 pointers in a row, and caused an 8-0 run, and never looked back. The Warriors brought quite a bit to the table, but their shot selection brought them out of the game. Can anybody beat these Rockets?

What will be the title of your thread if you go undefeated till you get the ring?

Dominant till the end?

Anyway,Great 7 win start. As they say here,a good start is the half of everything

Re: Rockets.... Still Dominant [7-0]

I think you will lose one of those. 9-1 then.

Re: Rockets.... Still Dominant [7-0]

Still hoping you can go 16-0 to start, I know big winning streaks cop a bit of flak but equaling some of these record streaks is a challenge in itself as you can certainly lose your concentration or have a bad game here or there, so I say go for it and make that part of this year's story. :)

I don't think I'll go undefeated the whole way. For now, I'm just getting used to my settings, and sometimes have to boost the CPU's settings to get more of a challenge.

It'd be awesome to start 16-0. So far, no team, other than the Clippers, has given me resistance. A bad game is sure to pop up sometime soon.

Thanks! I'm glad to see a Rockets fan is reading this.

I've had to eliminate the Lakers in the Conference Finals, so I think I kinda had enough of them.

3-game Recap

[7-0] Houston Rockets 99-104 Utah Jazz [3-2]

Image
Kevin Martin could not convert crucial buckets late in the 4th.

The Rockets, similar to last season, had an excellent start to the season. Well that came to an end at Utah. The Rockets started dominating in the 1st half, shutting down Utah defensively. A huge scoring 3rd quarter brought the Jazz back in the game, sparked by AK47, Tyrus Thomas and Al Jefferson. The Jazz gained their first lead of the game in the third. In the fourth, the Jazz pulled closer and closer towards the Rockets, and around the 4 minute mark, went up by 1, thanks to a short range jumper from Big Al. It would just be bucket trading from here on out. However, with less than 2 minutes left, Kevin Martin missed 3 consecutive field goals, as the Jazz pulled away, but the Rockets did not give up.Yao Ming converted a 3-point play, that brought the Rockets within 3, but Ronnie Price would close out the game at the line, going 6/6. The Rockets have now faced their first defeat of the season.

[7-1] Houston Rockets 100-87 Memphis Grizzlies [6-3]

Image
With Rudy Gay gone, OJ Mayo had to bring the scoring load.

Coming from a loss at Utah, the Rockets travelled to Memphis. The Grizzlies got off to a good start, but Kevin Martin starting getting a lot of trips to the foul line, and the Grizzlies gave up their lead, and never got it back. The Rockets would eventually set out to a 21 point lead, but during garbage time, the Grizzlies would chip away at the deficit, and were taken out in front of their home crowd.

[8-1] Houston Rockets 106-91 Denver Nuggets [7-3]

Image
Kevin Martin scores the first 2 points of the game.

The Rockets played their best basketball of the season this game. The Nuggets gave the Rockets a tough contest, getting them over the foul limit, and Chauncey Billups being all over the game, scoring 10 in the first quarter. In the 2nd quarter, things looked bad for the Rockets, as they were struggling to make field goals. A 10-0 run came out of nowhere, and the Rockets found themselves up by 6. The Rockets would not give the lead back, and though the Nuggets played good basketball, the Rockets just played superior basketball, and the better team won. The Rockets scored many fast break points, got multiple defensive stops, and really tough defense was played during that 10-0 run, and that proved to be a key factor in the game.

Shame about the loss, I was hoping you could break another franchise record. Still, you came back pretty strong in the next two, hope you can make it four straight with the two games against the Lakers. :)

The Jazz sneaked up on me there, I never saw that comeback coming. I host the Lakers twice, so at least one win is acceptable. :)
