im waiting for the same article about Deng...

as long as Rose is making the jump shot, it's all good. should be a lot of pick n roll this year. being a 3pt threat is nice but making the defense pay for playing him under the screen will be huge this year

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

If Rose can be established as a threat behind the 3 line defense will close up more on him, leaving spaces on the paint for him to try a dunk or find a rolling teammate for the inside shot.

That's going to be a long wait.

george-yeh having the 3pt shot would be nice. having the jump shot will be more important. i'd rather him be more Chris Paul then Deron Williams

andrew-why do you say that? i can't imagine Deng not working on his range this offseason. btw do a google search of deng and game winning shot

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

I guess I'm still just a bit down on Deng and remain skeptical that he's going to show much improvement or evolution as a player from here on out. I hope I'm wrong though.

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Wed Aug 04, 2010 9:53 am

this should be Deng's best year efficiency-wise. there's no more pressure about contract negotiation, having to carry the load as the team's best player, etc. he just needs to do what he does best- move without the ball, hit open jumpers, play some defense, disappear late in games.

he showed last year he can hit the corner 3. i dont think its asking much for him to hit that shot at different spots along the arc. shit- he should be getting a lot of open looks

maybe i am crazy but i do have some concerns about this guy's ego. his skillset is ideal for a 3rd scorer type but this will be the first time he'll be forced to play that role. and honestly i think Brewer is a better "slasher" then Deng. he finishes better & and can actually dribble more then once and score successfully

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

I hope you're right. As far as him being the third option I reckon his ego can handle it as he's been in that position before, behind Gordon and Rose in 2009 and Gordon and Hinrich in 2006.

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Wed Aug 04, 2010 1:20 pm

2006 those 3 were very close... Gordon being the top dog and there was Noce(!) firiing away as well

2009 i'm not so sure. he had his poorest season (since rookie year) and the Bulls were pretty mediocre until Salmons (and Miller) arrived

big difference with those situations and this upcoming season is this will be the first time in his career where he clearly is 3rd option at best

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Wed Aug 04, 2010 9:26 pm

If he doesn't play well, I think it'll have to do more with his playing style rather than his ego.

Not sure how much of an egoist he is, but it should be all good as long as the wins.

Fair enough, but I still don't think it will be a problem. He doesn't seem the type to make a fuss about that stuff, if anything he might be more comfortable (and thus content) in that role. Here's hoping.

yep. silver platter... Delonte West, anyone??

The Ultimate LeBron Stopper...if the rumours are true.

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Fri Aug 06, 2010 9:21 am

so since Mason went to the Nyk...

that leaves Bogans, trade for Rudy Fernandez, Delonte west (lol), t-mac lolz

i'd trade a future 1st draft round pick for Ru-Fer. preferably the charlotte pick

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Fri Aug 06, 2010 11:35 am

Fernandez is easily my preferred option as well, though doesn't seem like the Blazers are all that interested. Bogans would be alright.

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Fri Aug 06, 2010 11:46 am

I don't think the bulls should do this but do you think they should sign Delonte West? Now that he's been waived.

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Fri Aug 06, 2010 11:53 am

Not really, no. I suppose if it were a one year deal at the minimum it wouldn't be a terrible move, low risk without any longterm ramifications at any rate. I'd prefer Fernandez or Bogans.

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Sat Aug 07, 2010 1:10 am

Especially Fernandez, he'd be a great fit for the bulls, i think he can play both gaurd spots.

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Sat Aug 07, 2010 10:49 am

According to Sam Smith, Bogans it is.

The Bulls reached agreement with Keith Bogans on a two year deal valued at about $2.5 million, NBA sources confirmed Saturday.

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Sat Aug 07, 2010 12:29 pm

I still don't think Fernandez is quite worth a first-rounder, but it would be pretty fun to watch him in in the open court with Rose, Noah and Brewer.

As far as Bogans goes: yeah fine. He doesnt need to do much, but will likely be handy come playoff time.

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Sat Aug 07, 2010 5:34 pm

Not my favourite but will give some quality time from the bench

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Sat Aug 07, 2010 8:39 pm

He's not really a threat from the downtown but still can't leave him open and his strength is on defense anyways, being solid and not gambling much. I am not sure if that was what the Bulls were looking for, but he should be a good pick up imo at 2.5 million.

Portland is willing to deal Fernandez for Gibson
http://basketball.realgm.com/src_wireta ... fernandez/

I would easily pull the trigger on that trade.

The problem is the Bulls are not open to trading Gibson. They made James Johnson available, though.

It’s widely assumed that the Blazers want Taj Gibson back from the Bulls, but sources say Chicago is not about to include Gibson in Fernandez talks. James Johnson is the best young player Chicago has made available.
