WASHINGTON — Trailing by a couple deep in the fourth quarter the Washington Wizards took the all important timeout.

It turns out the timeout was the right call as the Spurs kept missing the hoop whilst the Wizards thrived on three pointers to eventually take the lead and win a game they should of clearly lost.

DONT TAKE THREE POINTERS JOHN...

John Wall may be one of the best up coming players in the league, but for the Wizards sake keep off three pointers. Wall went 11 of 23 shooting field goals, engineered 7 assists and a fourth quarter comeback and (28 points) but went an embarrasing 2 of 8 on three pointers. The Wizards didn't shoot well during the first two quarters, but they improved steadily throughout the game during the second half.

PARKER STILL HAS IT

There were reports this season that Tony Parker's production was declining -- not in this game, Parker recorded 27 points and recorded 13 of 21 field goals. He wasn't productive during the third quarter which led to the Spurs scoring just 8 points, but when he was active the Spurs got to the paint effectively.

WHERE DO THE WIZARDS GO FROM HERE?

The Wizards now have just nine games left, and play five of them during February, it looks like they are the third best team this season behind the Miami Heat and the Los Angeles Lakers, but one has to think where would the Wizards be without the production of John Wall. Will the Wizards rest him? They play a grand total of 2 games in the final 2 months of the regular season schedule.

Yeah I'm a Wall fan. I'm pretty new to the NBA so I decided to like the Wizards (like 1 year) and drafting Wall made it that much better because he is going to tear some courts up lol

DALLAS — There road trip in the state of Texas hasn't been going too well, although they escaped San Antonio with a win, they couldn't evade the stampede of Mavericks coming to the court.

ACCURACY WINS GAMES

It doesn't matter if you score 9, 10 of 30 points, if your accurate your going to help your team a whole lot more and that is what Caron Butler did, Butler went 7 of 9 on field goals, 1 of 1 on three pointers and recorded 4 rebounds and 19 total points to help the Mavericks build a fourth quarter comeback which ended in a victory.

MCGEE?

Javale McGee may not like his time in Washington, but the young up and coming star is still trying to show the league he can play some ball, McGee went 4 of 4 on field goals and recorded 2 assists. Not the sexiest of numbers, but if the Wizards had got a little more aggressive and fluid with their game, McGee could of had a lot more chances, and a lot of more points.

FIGHTING FOR A SPOT

The Mavericks big win over #4 ranked Washington Wizards not only boost the morale, but it shows they can beat a good team on a good day, the Wizards who haven't lost two games in a row now travel to Florida to face the Orlando Magic who are turning their season around and are looking to go to the playoffs.

Thanks

I'm going to make the playoffs maybe 8 mins long, I just don't want John Wall to be getting 30-50 points every game lol. If I don't use John Wall much, then the Wizards suck pretty bad on the offensive side of the court :(.

But for the final few games i'll keep playing at think is 6 mins, from the playoffs and next season it's 8.

ORLANDO — In a sorcery contest featuring a spell casted Wizards against a team full of Magic, only one would leave the new Amway Center with the W.

It turns out the Wizards dominated the Magic for the better part of 3 and half quarters -- with the help of always handful John Wall and Josh Howard, the Wizards escaped with 85-75 victory.

U GOT WALL'D

When John Wall dunks, it's usually spectacular, but when he does it over Dwight Howard, it's that much sweeter. Wall recorded 33 points and went 15 of 19 on field goals, he commited a season high four turnovers, but was easily the best Wizards player out there.

DOMIANT D

When you allow Dwight Howard to score just 6 points, you know you have a good defense, the Wizards defense has been spic and span this season. A huge improvement over last years.

CRANK DAT UP

The Orlando Magic are playing much better basketball down the final stretch as opposed to starting out four months ago in late October. There fighting for a playoff spot and can make it if they play a little better defense, cut down on their mistakes and play to the same temp as last night's loss.

This looks really good, simple and well put together.

Wall has been amazing, you'd be screwed if he gets injured.

John Wall Rookie of the Month (Again)
Image
Posted by thatwizardguy on February 1, 2011 8:03 PM ET
probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com

Point Guard John Wall was awarded Decembers's Rookie of the Month Award, it's not really a surprise as he is leading the Wizards towards the play-offs and is leading all star votes at his respective position.

Clippers power forward Blake Griffin was awarded the West Rookie of the month, but Wall's stats ultimatley destroy Griffins.

Wall is considered to be the front runner for NBA MVP, although Lebron James and Kobe Bryant are hot in his trail.

The Wizards have just seven games left to play, the rest have an average of 12-15 games left.

NBA Rankings Feb Week 1 '11

After 8 weeks a top of the #1 power rankings the Los Angeles Lakers toppled the Miami Heat and for the first time this season are ranked #1. They currently hold and most likely will go into the post season for the third consecutive year with the #1 seed in the Western Conference.

WASHINGTON — Unlike every other team the Washington Wizards have faced -- the Detroit Pistons found a way to stop rookie sensation John Wall.

John Wall still got the job done, but recorded just 19 points on the night, his season average was around the 27 mark.

YOU CANT SEE ME

John Wall was double teamed constantly throughout the night, it's no question he found a way around it, but recording just 19 points for himself on the stat sheet shows he was restricted pretty well. Wall was accurate when needed recording 9 of 11 field goals and 1 of 1 three pointers, he also registered 7 assists.

BRITISH HELP

Shooting guard Ben Gordon almost helped upset the Washington Wizards, although he came up short he still had good stats. Gordon recorded 22 points, played the most minutes on his team and recorded 3 rebounds. He's getting better and better as the season goes a long.

ALL IMPORTANT Q

As the season has progressed, certainly in the last couple of games the Wizards have not been as good as they have been compared to laying an ass whooping on the Miami Heat. When John Wall's play deteriorates for some kind of reason, the Wizards also perform bad. The Wizards have just six games left. Is it time to rest John Wall?

Wizards release Watson and Boykins
Image

probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com

The Wizards said goodbye to point guard Earl Boykins (no surprise here) and C.J. Watson as the Wizards continued to shape put their roster.

Both were hardly needed and one came through a trade. Although both contributed on the court, it was realistic that they would of been waived after the season.

But that didn't stop the Wizards from signing other free agents. The 6ft 6" 23 year old shooting guard Kyle Weaver agreed to a 1 year deal worth $1.09M. He's expected to be just a bench warmer.

The Wizards expressed interest in center Mouhamed Sene and small forward Cartier Martin. Both left the gym without contracts after an initial visit.

WASHINGTON — Try as hard as you can to beat these Washington Wizards but it's just no good.

These Wizards of Washington just find a new way each game to come through for the victory. And today it was passing all over the court.

20 ASSISTS

You can claim that the Bucks shut John Wall down to 14 points and forced 6 turnovers on him, but you can't say he didn't use his playmaking skills through the passing game. Wall by half time had recorded 12 assists, 10 points and 2 steals. Although he recorded just a handful of more points during the second half, he put up 10 more assists giving him 20. His team-mates call him unselfish for a reason -- And tonight you could see why.

KIDD STEALING

Jason Kidd recorded 4 steals, most came against long passes, but a steal is a steal and Kidd led the Bucks back into the game, although it was too late. Kidd recorded 19 points and 3 rebounds, it wasn't enough as they are on the outside looking in at the playoffs.

FINAL STRETCH

The Washington Wizards have just 5 games left, 1 in 2 of the last months and three more this month. They are trying to wrap up the #1 seed for the first time since 1978. 32 long years, but the Wizard fans have the hold their breaths, the Heat are right on their heels and still have twice as many games to play.

WASHINGTON — The Pacers stayed true to their name, they set the pace of the game which the Wizards didn't have a spell to counter.

The Indiana Pacers defeated the Washington Wizards at the Verizon Center, 88-79.

DANNY & T.J.

Danny Granger and T.J. Ford were the huge impact players of the game. Granger recorded 24 points and went 10 of 18 on field goals and T.J. Ford arguably played the best recording 21 points and 7 assists although he did turn the ball over the four times, Roy Hibbert also helped in with 14 points and 9 rebounds.

WALL OF FORTUNE

John Wall has been one of the best players this season in the NBA, he showed it tonight recording 25 points, 1 steal and 13 assists. Wall is arguably the front runner for the NBA MVP and has the rookie of the year wrapped up for a long time, he could win a FINALS MVP if the Wizards get that far, but that's a big if right now.

SO NEAR YET SO FAR

Even though the Pacers beat one of the best teams in the league, they are not same from playoff elimination although they hold a seed, they need to carry on their strong performences if they want to reach the post season.

Wall, CP3 highlight All-Star starters

Hollywood has it's A-List celebrities and the NBA has it's A-List stars. Whether you love them or hate them, each year the best players at their positions within the conference goes toe to toe with the opposing best player in their position.

Among the Eastern Conference, PG John Wall (1), SG DeWayne Wade (6), SF LeBron James (6), C Dwight Howard (4), replacements Chris Bosh (4) and Derrick Rose (1) will go against a strong fielded Eastern Conference side that boasts PG Chris Paul (3), SG Kobe Bryant (12) and Deron Williams (1).

All hell will be set loose when these colossal teams set forth inside the Staples Center this weekend.

WASHINGTON — It was one of those games where one of the teams were suppose to get blown out and one of the better teams put on a show.

For the majority of the game Blake Griffin and the Los Angeles Clippers had a 10 point lead, but the Wizards got back into the game and clinched there 20th win of the season.

REBOUND

Blake Griffin showed he can be a defensive masterpiece in this game, the 2009 1st overall pick recorded 7 rebounds and went 5 of 8 on field goals, the college student at Oklahoma turned pro didn't do much offensively but led the Wizards to just 14 points during the first quarter.

STEAL DAT!

The Wizards were down by 10 going into the final minute of the second quarter, but three steals by John Wall and 8 points later the Wizards went into halftime with a 37-31 lead. Wall didn't have a great start to the game going 2 of 8 on field goals and 0 of 3 on three pointers, but finished the game 11 of 20 and 1 of 5.

IF THE PLAYOFFS STARTED TODAY...

The Washington Wizards as the #1 overall seed would face the #8 seed the Orlando Magic who have appeared in the Eastern conference finals in two consecutive years. The Wizards best play came at the beginning of the season and has deteriorated significantly throughout the second half of the season.

HOUSTON — After an embarrasing performence against the Los Angeles Clippers the Washington Wizards answered back with a stunning performence against the Houston Rockers with Andray Blatche leading the way.

FOUR THREE POINTS

Josh Howard hada game to remember, recording 20 points Howard went 8 of 9 on field goals and went a perfect 4 of 4 on three pointers, he helped the Wizards record over 100 points and was a big reason why the Wizards put up 32 points in the second quarter.

WALL IT IS

It's no surprise for the third straight month John Wall took home East Rookie of the year honors, Wall recorded 8 assists and went 10 of 16 on field goals for 22 points, although he wasn't a one man wrecking crew like most weeks, he again used his playmaking ability through the passing game.

PERFECTION

There's not many who can shoot better than Andray Blatche this season, Blatche recorded 22 points and 6 rebounds but went a blistering 11 of 11 on field goals. He wasn't mvp of the game, but he certainly was deservable for it.

MARTIN'S GOOD

Despite not generally being happy in Houston, Kevin Martin is still performing at a high level, evident of his 24 points and 4 of 5 three pointers, he could seek a trade, but the deadline is coming up... fast.

SALT LAKE CITY — In one of the worst performences they've posted in game 26, after a great game 27 they came back and posted their worst performence in game 28. That's the Washington Wizards that is.

And the Utah Jazz made them pay for it.

POOR PERFORMENCE

When the best Wizards play poor, the team plays poor Wall hit just 10 of 22 field goals and 0 for 3 three pointers and Andray Blatche went 4 of 7, not that those stats were bad the Wizards did not play too well, the Utah Jazz out did them in every statistical category.

WILLIAMS' CONTROLS THE GAME

Deron Williams was on fire tonight, and the Jazz could be nearer to clinching a playoff spot due to his 31 points. Although Williams went 13 of 28 on field goals and 1 of 6 on three pointers, Williams also recorded 5 rebounds and 10 assists, no question he led them to victory.

#2 SEED

The Wizards have more or less wrapped up the #2 seed in the Eastern Conference, the Miami Heat overtook them sometime last week, but the Wizards are still one of the best teams entering the playoffs when they play their best.
