NBA 2k10 Expansion Mode Idea!

I had this idea and I think it woul really make an impact on the game! Its simple to create, its never been done before and I believe players would really get into this! Its basically an advanced "create a team" mode from last years 2K9, I call it...


The 2K Expansion Team Mode

Like the name says, this should be a mode, where you can set up your own NBA Franchise! This is how it works:

Step 1: Choose a City

It should be no problem to add lets say 20 to 30 citynames to the commentary so the team will feel "real" during playing! Suggestions for those citys by forum members would be appreciated! Some suggestions by me: Montreal,Vancouver,San Diego, San Jose,Jacksonville,El Paso,Seattle,Oakland....just a few from the top of my head

Step 2: Choose a Name

Sam as step one, just select a prerecorded franchise name for your team! Again, suggestions appreciated!

Nationals,Chaparrals,Rebels,Falcons,Sounds,Tams,Pipers,Stars,Huskies,Sails,Rollers,Ironmen, Spirits....those all once were NBA franchise names, in case there could be a license problem

Step 3: Expansion Draft

Just like in real NBA history, hold an expansion draft. Basically you choose your roster from a bunch of players that are not protected by their teams and free agents. If you want to know how an expansion draft works in detail, please look it up on wikipedia!

Step 4: Choose Staff

Former or unemployed coaches should be just as available as former or unemployed GMs in order to set up your management!

Step 5: Create your Apperence

A little creator to set up your jerseys, different colors, different fonts for numbers and letters, a couple of graphics etc. After that you´ll need a logo for the club, maybe 2K could make one for each franchisename, or even better, allow to upload jpg files, so players can create and/or share their own....this would be awesome for the jerseys too!

And off you go! Build your very own NBA Dynasty from scratch!

I'd love it. Actually found this post because I was looking for information if it was possible to somehow pull that off in 2k9 but I guess not..

that is a great idea and it would help modders to create old school franchise teams so they wouldnt have to change the other teams. post at 2k sports.

Sorry to resurrect this old thread, but I just wanted to say that I think it's a great idea.
The mode they have this year, were you can create you're own team, is definetly a step in the right direction. I think it would be cool to creat your own team, then enter Association mode and having the season start with an expansion draft where they use real expansion draft rules (i.e., teams protecting certain players and others being eligible for the draft).

Alot of players love starting Associations with non-playoff contending teams. What better way to instead start with your own team with your own logos and arena and just putting together scrap players and start building your team up during multiple seasons.

This is a great idea and something I have wanted in a dynasty/association mode for a long time.

It sounds like a great idea, and I don't think it would be TOO hard to implement.. if not at least add a feature within the association mode which allows teams to relocate! (similar to recent madden titles)

Yeah relocation would be nice since creating your own team would not make much sense having more teams in the west or east. Unless you added a couple teams. That is sick anyways. I thougt 2k10 had that! oh well.

Yeah, its an old idea of mine, but positive feedback is always nice, no matter how old the threat!

And by the way, I still think its a good idea, hope someone at 2k at least read the post, I posted it on their forums as well!
